Well steam is first and foremost a drm and drm mostly exists just to annoy paying customers. There are lots of people who see steam as something totally amazing when in reality it is pretty much worse than a disc in every other way but one. You don't need discs.
I don't think alonso is comfortable with the car either. Alonso is just doing better job with bad equipment and kimi has had some misfortunes that have cost him a lot so the gap isn't really that big as the points make it look. Alonso has had technical issues as well but not something that drops you 24th from 3rd place. To say that alonso is completely destroying kimi is a bit like saying ricciardo is totally destroying vettel.
And apparently there are more alfas coming as well. Though it does look like most of them will be dlc but "at least one Alfa Romeo car model will be included in the 1.0 version of the game".
When I was writing that I did not know about the idea to make the mid race restarts standing starts. You are right there are lots of problems with it and it sounds almost as bad idea as the double points for the last race...
Dunno. The formula abarth feels very skittish to me. When nkpro came out the cars felt a bit like the formula abarth. Very stiff, very skittish and the road feel was almost like the tires were made of metal. But when nkpro eventually got its first physics patch that metallic feel went away. Compared to what the F2000 and ftarget felt at their best to me the formula abarth feels kind of meh. Could be the setup too. I've only driven the f abarth couple of times and I never touched the setup. Maybe it is just the monoshock front suspension that makes it wonky...
One thing that just came to my mind is that because the F1 cars are designed to be so aero efficient there is not much drag and the rules have also been changed to address that (taller, narrower rear wings). In theory that has resulted the cars being able to follow each others more closely (more efficient aero = less lipstream) but at the same that has also killed the slipstream effect. So unlike in early 2000s the cars can now drive closer but can not pass without ers, kers and ders...
Generally rolling starts are pretty boring compared to standing starts. Out of all race series that I can imagine only the big fat oval racing cars need to watch out for wheelspin when the green flag comes out but in every other series you just smash the throttle and see who anticipated the start the best. I don't think the cost of clutch is that much important. Unless you force the cars to start from stationary using some electric motor the cars would still need the clutches when exiting pits. Unless you want the teams to push the cars to get them moving after pitstops. Not to mention the increased amount of yellow flags when a spun stationary car always needs to be towed or pushed away.
Fia could just make a stupid rule that any car that drives under 60kph can only use electric motor for that. That would essentially remove the need of the clutch (the car could just shift from neutral to 1 at 60kph) but that would probably require new powertrain because in the current F1 cars the electric motor is connected to the engine crankshaft and as such you need to be in gear to use it. But electric motor wouldn't need a clutch. Not sure if the starts would be as exciting...
I think the standing starts is good for f1. If I got my way I would remove all electronics from that system except antistall (stationary cars in the grid are really dangerous). No programmable clutches, just one clutch paddle and let the drivers do the starts.
I did not have ac back when the car voting happened so I did not vote. Anyone here know what cars came on top in that voting? What were the most popular cars that are not in the game?
Ehm... really, you really think that? I just can't help but disagree 100%.
I think the best sounding car I've heard is the iracing corvette. Nothing in lfs comes in close no matter from what pov you are looking at it. Purely from sound perspective it is the real recorded sound. From physics pov iracing has modeled the drivetrain flex and play (either one or both, can't remember for sure) and you can hear that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFPsscuOWEA
I don't think forzas are bad at all either. Forzas sound just great imho. I don't know if the claims of the forza devs are actually true or just marketing speech when they say that they add little roughness to the sounds to get the same effect loudness does to the sound inside your ear but I like the results: www.youtube.com/watch?v=P18WiDH1ojE
I don't know enough about pcars to comment it. Ac sounds good enough for me already. But lfs. It hasn't ever sounded good. It sounds good enough so that most of the time you are not annoyed by it. Saying that lfs has the best sound is imho like saying lfs has the best graphics...
Driving straight could be lethal if you get it wrong (drag racing). When you design a race track or plan a rally course and then add a jump or corner that is guaranteed to kill or injure the driver or the co-driver if the driver or the co-driver gets it wrong is just plain stupid. Why on earth would you do such thing ion purpose? Only reason for having such jump or corner on the track is to make sure people crash. And when you have enough crashed people get injured and then if you have more crashes people die.
Lack of safety on purpose is just sheer stupidity period.
I've only bought the bridge and the euro truck sim2. Luckily I don't know much about modern games so I don't really have any games I really want so I'm going to save lots of money .
I don't think it is about removing all risk. It is possible that some jump or section of corners can be too dangerous. I don't have a problem with difficult corners and jumps but if you have a jump that you can overshoot just a little bit and it can kill you then it is not right. Or going too slow and end up not making it and getting seriously injured.
Perez moved but I'm not sure if Perez moved under braking or just before. Anyways moving so late with someone so near you is always really dangerous because the guy behind you has more speed and literally no time to react. In the end Perez made a reactionary move too late which left Massa (who was fully committed at that point) no time or room to react. Perez has been driving really well this season but he needs to control his maldonado or he will end up as one...
