Quote from dekojester :NDR have survived from it's rather shambles and sometimes disastorous beginnings to keep a rather high level of interest.

Oi. I'm right here you know.

Quote from vipex123 :Road cars have never been used for endurance really, so I don't see why we shouldn't use it. Plus people like Joe suck in GTR's so we have to let them have a chance with everyone else, plus there are plenty of people out there who do laps day in day out with the STD class and I feel it would be great to endorse that group of people into league racing. I mean the STD leagues that have been run that I have seen have always brought in a really good diversity of drivers who are prehaps unknown to most but competitive because its in their comfort zone. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasically what I am trying to say is I dont care what we use, when we use, where we use it as long as it brings competitive drivers and grids and I think Road Car Endurance is the answer to that.

Completely agree with this

And I think, as a fairly average driver myself, a road car series gives us a better chance to mix it with the big boys, rather than racing GTRs where they all have their awesome setups and thousands of hours of practice

I am driving on the right, my 5 year old lad is on the left one, there are 6 race seats all in a line and all connected to the same LAN network, cost £2 for 10 mins racing. Its a Rockingham Motor Speedway in Northamptonshire, went to watch the BTCC meet and this was one of the highlights of the day! :oD

Quote from dekojester :
DEFINITE: 6th Annual Kyoto 250 on it's usual end of March time frame.

Quote from dekojester :LIKELY - GT1 World Series (FZR 1%/15kg, XRR, FXR) - Endurance races: 3h, 6h, 12h, 24h, 500km, 1000km (one of each).

Quote from dekojester :-- BF1 Series to be the upper echelon of NDR's single seater series. Similar to LFSCART, longer races by a few tens of km, otherwise same general format

:thumbsdow
Quote from dekojester :-- Return of TBO Challenge in it's old or somewhat revised format

but in an endurance format, perhaps instead of GT1 World Series. TBO endurance would be good and I think the top teams would be up for it more than another GT series.
Quote from dekojester :-- Might have a short MiniFBM season later in the winter.

Quote from dekojester :DEFINITE: 6th Annual Kyoto 500 on it's usual end of June time

Quote from dekojester :DEFINITE: LFSCART 2013 usual format.

Quote from dekojester :LIKELY: GT2 World Series as is

Quote from dekojester :-- LFSCART Light runs alongside LFSCART like it did in 2010.

And an iRacing league. Plus AC/rF2/anything else if they're good

Quote from CrAZySkyPimp :More LFS guys like Thomas Arends (Dutch GT championship) and Phillip Ellis (F3 Euro)

Ah yes, thanks! Was racking my brain to think of more people. And Valteri Bottas too!

Yes.

Examples:
Rudy van Buren
Norbi Kiss
Tommy Ostgaard
Scott Andrews
Wyatt Gooden

I dare say that's because they have "natural talent" rather than just by practising for days on end but yes they correlate pretty well. From the small amount of karting I've done I dare say I'm better IRL than I am online, but I may reconsider that after I've hopefully done some proper karting next year

EDIT: The skills are exactly the same, the only real difference is the physical side (which is the bit I tend to struggle with IRL :P)

Couple of questions from me - is the new calendar the same for the next 2 seasons? And also what happens in Week 13? All I ever see for week 13 is lots o YouTube videos of people wrecking :P

Yeah, I suppose he was going for the "lets drive a car I can drive in real life" kinda thing. Definitely got it spot on about the differing driving styles IRL compared to online. Although I'd struggle to describe iRacing's physics as "spookily realistic" - not sure I'd even describe LFS's as quite that good.

Quote from Hyperactive :The best to do it would be to have some kind of electricity to heat the metal bars inside the front wing on the start line. This would make the wing drop down to the optimal level and be there for the whole race. Then after the race on the cool down lap the driver presses a button and a similar system hidden inside the car would turn on and would start heating up another metal bar inside the front wing. This added with a spring (o gas expansion) would "pull" the wing back up.

Really simple, light weight and totally within the spirit of the rules!

I'd say that's not within the spirit of the rules (and almost actually illegal) as it could be argued it's a driver activated moveable aerodynamic device. With the oil you can argue pumping it through some metal is actually "cooling the oil".

Quote from amp88 :I'm not saying this is false, of course, but let's play a game of "find the oil rails" on the front section of the chassis from this image taken on the Friday of the British GP.

edit: Compare with Force India and Sauber (I think).

Quote from three_jump :I don't see how a nose change should work then, as you'd be opening the oil system. Or did I misread that?

Yep agree with that, unless there's a secret heat exchanger somewhere in there? Good idea though.

Quoting someone I know, on RBR's front wing flexing:

Quote :In simple terms they design it to have hollow box sections either side of the pillars. These allow the whole wing to flex considerably, like up to 50mm! However they fill these hollow sections with a low melt alloy. This is heavy stuff but has a melting temp of around 70-80C. They run tubes through this alloy that are pumped with oil from the engine. So, when the car is running and the oil going through the LMA is hot it melts the alloy allowing the wing to flex. Then when the car stops again at parc ferme the alloy solidifies and keeps the wing stiff for scrutineering. Clever but arguably against the sporting code of the sport.

Didn't give his source, sounds interesting and within the plausibility of the brain of Adrian Newey

Quote from oz3bto :Fine that evryone will send you the setup on the servers .. But where do i find the setup when someone sends it to me and how do i send it to others ?

Press "n" until the player list comes up, then next to the player who sent you the setup there will be a green "S" - click it, input a name and click ok. Then go to your garage and will be in there as long as you have the right car selected
