www.autosport.com gets most of the racing covered... the news are usually free, the more technical stuff requires a subscription...

Quote from hungryhippo :we will have to agree to disagree then.

back in the good old days of WRC, we often see several drivers all trying to out-slow each other at the end of day 1, it has been part of the game...

Quote from Mustafur :Wow Atkinson got 3rd, solberg is getting distroyed this year.

a 3rd is still a 3rd despite finishing 3min off the lead...

Solberg was challenging for the lead on day 1, until a rock suddenly found its way onto the stage and u can guess it Solberg hit it (again!) and retired (again!)...

Quote from hungryhippo :Anyone think the ford team, Hirvonen and Latvala deserve some kind of penalty for deliberately slowing down at the end of stage 16 so that Sordo would have to run first on day 3 to clean the road for them?

why should they be penalised~? it's all part of tactic...

it has been this way ages ago, where car would delibrately try to out-slow each other so they won't have to be first on the stages the next day... obviously that got changed and now FIA decided to change it back...

I thought the F08 was very easy to drive... the only thing you need to worry about is how much throtle to apply when getting out of slow corners...

whereas the RAC, yeah it's fun to drive but there're so much more you need to worry about to get it to point at where you intended. so this get my vote~

Quote from axus :A big thumbs down for silly Safety Car pitting rules.

they better change that before Monaco / Canada~!

I don't mind spoilers for IRL oval races, as I wouldn't watch them anyway~

I don't really like these ideas of unexpected victories by stretching fuel or playing differently with fuel strategy, but yeah at the end of the day it's the wins that's important so well done~!

Quote from aoun :Talented or not.. Senna like, even, or not..

But can a 16 year old young developing body handle a Formula 1 car? Or a full distance race?

What do you think?

I think its possible, but at the same time, i just don't think a kid can handle it.

who said he'll be racing for Honda anytime soon~?

Quote from thisnameistaken :But we'd actually get to see Coulthard beat seven shades of shit out of Massa, like he promised.

that's the only thing I'd like to watch from F1 at the moment~!

Plus the incident at melbourne this year which i couldn't find a video for.

I never see the point of turning into a car that he knew was there already...
only one thing would happen if one do that, it's to have an accident and damage the car, and he's driving a open wheelers not a touring car for god sakes...

so in Melb and Bahrain he'd perhaps missed a point scoring opportunity by delibrately turning into someone...

Quote from Albieg :No, the only certain thing is that he refuses the allegations of nazism while accepting all the rest.

but apparantly he's only sueing for "breach of privacy", if the nazism was untrue surely they'd go for defamation as well~?

or of course the alleged sueing only for breach of privacy might be made up by the media~ lol

I'd love to get an onboard from Lewis for the start~ he overtook some 5 cars in the first couple of corners and somehow the director forgot to get their hands on that onboard footage to show it on the replay...

I reckon perhaps McLaren opted for a more wet-oriented set up than the Ferrari, either that or unfortunately the Ferrari will just escape at the front at 1sec per lap... McLaren simply didn't have the pace of the Ferrari this weekend, but if the rain does come it'll make things VERY interesting~!

Quote from Noccy :Enjoyed the race yesterday, but i fear one thing..and fear it allot.

The manufacturers wont be happy if every race has half of their pampered drivers spin out. Too bad for their precious image.
So they will hold a few anal meetings and go talk to Max and Bernie.
Midway through the season Max or Bernie suggest it's much too dangerous without TC and propose a rulechange for 2009.
Before we know it all teams agree to use TC again and we are back to the boredom of the last few years.

Really hope the (good) drivers disagree loudly enough and the fans riot too so it doesn't happen..but if the manufacturers agree on it and get support from the FIA it will be hard to stop them.

the crashes has NOTHING to do with ban of TC... other than the one Massa has in T1...

it's just Piquet taking out 5 or 6 cars in the 1st lap, THREE Ferrari engines let go, DC crashed out while turning into Massa, Glock flying out after running wide and hit a grass ramp, Nakajima running into the back of Kubica, along with a couple of reliability issues for some other cars, that explained all the retirements...

Quote from Kalev EST :But technically Kimi didn´t retire? He completed enough laps to be classified and get points.

I think technically he did, just that he also completed enough laps to be classified and get points.

Wasn't it Honda or Super Aguri who tried that trick a couple of years ago~? by pulling both of their cars into the pits at the 2nd to last lap cos they ain't gonna get points anyway but will get a fresh engine for Malaysia... (and then both blew up in lap 6 of the race~ lol)

Quote from Bawbag :Ahh, I see, never heard the commentators talking about this, I guess it's still the same though, probarly best to keep this engine change in his pocket, than waste it for a couple of points he would have got anyway.

especially after seeing Rubens car exited the pit with a red light on~ it's probably worth the gamble~
and at least we know who Kimi really should thanks if he win it by a point again this season~

Quote from Bawbag :From what I picked up on from the itv commentators, engine changes do cost you a 10 second grid penalty, I don't know how long the engines need to last but the gearboxes were said to have to do 4 races.

They spoke of Kimis choices when his engine went sour and contemplated on whether he would preffer a couple of points or drop out now and have a fresh engine for the next race.

the engine need to last 2 races... otherwise it's a 10 place grid penalty...

but there is a small change to that this season, is that every driver are allowed ONE "unexpected" engine change (when the engine hasn't lasted 2 races) which would not incur any penalties...

Quote from srdsprinter :I believe he may have retired to avoid having to take another qualifying pentalty next race. His engine was dying badly, and if he had finished, he'd only have gotten a couple more points. But then next week he'd undoubtedly need a new engine, 10 spot qualy pentalty putting him in the same situation he was this week. DNF = No pentalty for engine change.

everyone is given a free engine change this season, so he wouldn't need to worry about 10 spot penalty...

but what I don't know is if he DNFed and changed his engine, would that count towards that free engine change~

Quote from scania :If we just watch the race, NASCAR & V8 is very exciting
but, if we open the corver, it is a very useless machine

if you really could "open the cover", you will take exactly what you just said and stuff it right back into your mouth~

Quote from three_jump :Nice race and a classic start-finish-win by hamilton. Podium was quite surprising after this chaotic race.

Shame about Bourdais engine, was a really nice race by him.
And Barichello... a man who is so long in F1 should know that he can't leave the pits when the light is red. Or maybe he forgot...

Btw: Was Kimi having a hangover or did he make holidays with Montoya recently?

I was in tears when I saw the smoke from Seabass engine~

Quote from scania :ya, old fashioned way.
it is very sexy for who is just love car, but, for me, I would like that racing should help the auto car technology today & tomorrow, autoracing is not just a sports, but also a laboratory.

umm... so you reckon a 18,000rpm 2.4 V8 will finds it way into cars we actually drive~?

lets face it, motor-racing is a show, and a business, and a massively huge waste of resources, both in terms of fuel and guys working 24/7 to improve things by curving certain part of a car slightly differently... these are of no use for the road...

Quote from scania :I don't like NASCAR, because it have no technology

try rev your average V8 to 9000rpm for 500 miles and see what will happens to it~

NASCAR does has technology, it just prefer to do things the old fashioned way, in terms of their pushrod V8...

Quote from deggis :Ok...

If this new IRL doesn't take off and Tony George continues to pretend it's a great series, then ALMS might be a serious winner. Or then NASCAR gets even stronger.

NASCAR already benefited from the arrival of JPM~ at least now it got more international exposure~

lets hope IRL will get their acts together and ditch some ovals~ a few ovals is enough~!
