Everyone driving the same car has always worked for me, the track is unimportant, the people on it is what makes it fun ( or not).
Keep it simple, no points, no prizes, admin the server properly and lead by example, we wouldn't need any patches ...everything that makes LFS fun is already there and has been for 7 years.

Code cant admin.

The Solstice is a great drive,Doesn't have the HP to mask errors which is part of the reason why I like it, an honest drive that lets the driver shine.

I love the Skippy but I still prefer the Solstice, vastly underated car, many see it as stepping stone to something better, I think its a lot more than that.

I don't like the Jetta, I would rather race my Fabia estate

For me the meaning of life is evolving enough to use your intellect to overcome primal caveman fears and insecurities

Patriotism at its worst encourages non thinking , rise above it.

Never had problem on the server, personally I like racing where everyone drives the same car,the huge speed differences that come with multi class racing detracts from the simple and very satisfying one on one pleasure that come from everyone racing the same car.

But good luck to you and thanks for hosting

There are too many track/car combos IMO, Yes new tracks and cars deliver more income in the short term but I dont think in the long term this is the way to go. I think its spreading the userbase too thin as it is and thats bad news.

Look at how many good and empty LFS servers there are?.

Less is more .

With a calibrated monitor everything should look better ( or more accurate) be it game, film or Image.

I just upgraded my old Viewsonic 19" 4x3 panel for one of these
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158551 not the cheapest monitor but the difference Is night and day ,incredible colours.

In lfs Its as if the cars have all be resprayed. all those old familiar skins looks stunning, I could never go back to a TN panel now.

The Rules apply to everyone being fast is great, being fast and leaving your ego in the pits...priceless.
Respect comes from actually giving a damn about everyone you race against, fast or slow, I have genuine respect for these drivers, ( and there are more than you think)they stand out every time I see them.
Don't know where this latest EXP point system is going but I have concerns about it if becomes the norm, when I joined LFS I could race on any public server and benefited from watching more experienced drivers.

New drivers are the lifeblood of LFS show them how to drive by example, if they Mess about and disrupt the racing THEN exclude them.

Timo I got as far as the Skippy then set up home there.

This is the most exciting and predictable car ever in any sim going back 12 year for me, I felt the same when I tried the solstice but the skippy is better and not just because its faster .Forget about SR ,IR, and all the angst that people go through trying to desipher the point scoring sytems.

Enjoy it for what it is.

3 months on I'm still finding ways to go faster by not trying to( as in overdriving )... Its sublime.

Good post, In an an Ideal world with no lag, and no plonkers I would Agree. But Its not so I leave room until I know I don't have to.
Contact with others is a grey area, open to abuse so I avoid it like the plague. You can let another driver pass you only to repass them where it really counts.

I wish the races were longer in LFS, 30 minute races would help people develop tactics, see where the other guy is slower and exploit it...etc.

But It seems everyone wants instant gratification these days.

Limerock is still my favorite track,VERY challenging to race, easy to hotlap.

My tips for Having fun in Iracing if your starting out.

1: Never chase fast laps let them come to you as descibed in number 4.
2: practice practice practice first ..then race.
3: dont worry about what others are doing or not doing,( unless there wrecking ).
4: Don't hop from car to car,Don't rush to move up, find a car you like and stick with it, keep driving it until all those frustrating corners normally accompanied with massive sawing at the wheel on the exit suddenly feel like you have all the time in the world to make them, its a slow/fast almost effortless feeling and its worth the practice.

5: enjoy it, it's not a job

I still think its just LFS , It was that when I downloaded the demo and it still is but better.

While you wait for the update Here's a sport some of you may enjoy, the white coats add that little touch of magic that makes me think we are not long for this planet as a species

There are Idiots in every nation, where a driver comes from Is meaningless , If they cause crashes report them.

I must have shared the track (mostly practise in the last season)with hundreds of drivers but in the few races I've had mostly in the( dreaded ) Rookie Solstice class I've only seen 1 genuine plonker in that time and acted accordingly.

Maybe I've just been lucky

Had my first few practise laps tonight In the Skippy@ Infineon the most demanding and Infuriating track so far for me...I Love It.

The Spec racer is great fun to drive it's the car I drove when I got my free demo which was the last week 13 It does wander about about a bit on the straight though feels a bit like the MRT , the Skippy is still the business for me Its the worse choice Iracing could have picked from a business point of view, Its just so good I don't want anything else.

Weeks after trying It for the first time it doesn't get boring it just gets better and better, but to fair maybe the SRF has hidden qualities to be discovered , I just cant get used to the drunken sailor feeling in a straight line.

Respect the drivers around you and you can tear up the rule book , racing hard for position or a win is fine and expected but to hold up another driver just because a rule says your allowed to.. be honest.

I sense this subject is rearing its head again comes from drivers racing Skoda's and Ferrari's at the same time?,

I would make everyone drive XFG at Blackwood .. 20 lap races, no toilet breaks, or beverages until you finish

Who's winning anyone have the score?
Those Hotlappers are causing all the problems, how dare they set fast lap times, avoid them like the plague.
As for Iracing when you drive the cars its just on another level from anything I pretended to drive before , but it faces the same problems that LFS does.

1:No one is ever wrong and they will defend that postion untill there's no one left to listen.

2: In Iracing the hotlappers get special black colours to warn you about them

The more thing change the more they stay the same.

The good admins are the ones you never see or hear until your messing about and doing something other than racing in there server.

The good Admins practise what they preach.

They don't have God complexes ,they know how much pleasure and fun racing can be when everyone is there to do it, and its there reason for wanting this frustrating job.

Where's the replay?.

The content I have ATM is more than enough for me , been driving the Skippy for a few weeks , Its got more layers to it than an onion
More content = more income, in the short term at least, but spread the members too thin and who knows the outcome?.

I think you can have too much choice sometimes, only time will tell.

Got a feeling the next patch will be worth the wait,I wouldn't be that surprised if it was the patch to end all patches and I wouldn't blame them either.

We celibrate New Year more than most( or at least we used to) here in Scotland, but its changed over the years, used to look forward to who would be our 'first foot' of the new year, your door was open to all visitors, I remember growing up people knocking on the door and getting welcomed in with a drink, a bit of shortbread and a plate of Mum's homemade soup.

And Ricky Fulton on the telly

I'll remember having a great time in LFS, and talking to hundered's maybe thousands of people without ever having to say a word.

I remember the team400 server and waiting on teamspeak for someone to say ' join now' because it was so busy.

I remember a member posting about a broken collar bone caused by a mountain bike accident....LOL

I remember being able to shred your tyres in the xrr in one lap by locking them up for one or two corners, drove smoother because of it.

I started on dial up 56k as well ,I'm now on the adsl equvilent of 512k and my line can still throw hissy fit

Not bad for £24
