Ahhh good old GPL, loaded it up again a few days ago, can't believe I used to be able to drive these monsters

GPL still has it checked GPL rank and my rank is still there after all these years.

Where do the years go?.

You do get what you pay for, If you like racing on demo, good for you enjoy, race it for the next 10 years if you like , but you will not get what LFS is really about .
Its been posted many times how much better the racing experience is in the full version.

To answer the OP question, No of course not.. have you seen the mess the world is in ATM that is Tension, I come here for fun and relaxation.

Buy a licence or stick with the demo makes no difference to me I judge others by how fair and clean they race, demo or s2.

I know demo users are getting about 1% of what the licenced version offers and I'm not just talking about more cars and tracks it's even better than that .

You choose.

In the long term the g25 is probably the cheapest wheel you could buy.

Hopefully it will last for at least the 5 years+ that my momo force did, how many cheap wheels will you have to replace in the time?.

Saying that If the Momo Red Force was still on sale I would have bought it ahead of the g25 in a heartbeat, IMO it had a better feel around the centre of the steering and had a smooth frictionless action that makes the g25 feel slightly "sticky" in comparison, and its whisper quiet compared to the g25.

But I also like the Idea of not having to open up the G25 every few months to change or clean the analogue pot.. swings and roundabouts
With what on the market just now the G25 is light years ahead of the DFP
I think the pedals will outlive me

I went from a momo force wheel to the g25 and thought I was driving another sim for 2 weeks.

Give it time ,driving with a wheel is the way to go,try using your mouse again in a few weeks, bet you cant drive with it

Setups do make a difference when you know the track well, but a bigger influence IMO is If you won the race before, or you got a really smooth fast lap and dropped a second or so in your lap time, something changes in the way you drive that track.. Lets call It Confidence.

I have in the past sent setups to other drivers saying they are the best thing since slice bread and only noticed at the end of the race I had selected the wrong setup at the start.

Funny thing is these drivers get pb's .

I've bought 2 racing games/simulations in the last 9 years the first was GPL , the pleasure and sheer addiction from GPL lasted 5 years and I will never forget those days.

Then I downloaded the LFS demo and it started all over again, and its still going strong, My biggest wish is for the sounds in LFS to reflect the Buzz I still get from driving the cars .

I vote long life.

Quote :Huh? I remember seeing you pwning everyone on demo-servers on a daily basis back in 2004. Maybe that was some other John Penn ...

Back then XFG was my car of choice there, still isI remember trying the XRT and at that time it was MUCH harder to control than it is now, that first chicane at BL in the XRT.. ohhh man I still have fond memories of going into Basil Fawlty mode after once again spinning out on the exit

Quote :I used to pwn him on AS nat

yes you do...please stop it

The only reason I drive the XRT is I like the way it handles and feels on track ,never really tried it much before STCC, its great fun trying to up to speed with it and still keep everything feeling smooth and easy ( that slow is fast feeling) still nowhere near that point yet but it's a pleasure to drive.

Even if it got half the points of the FXO I would still be driving it.

Hopefully if radiator or other damage related to hitting another car from behind can be implemented It would make a big difference at t1 and in other situations.

We can only change things in a very crude way, changing various volume levels will do nothing but make the sounds different, not more realistic or better, just different.

The real changes I hope are coming later, and all the tinkering will not make any difference, but If you get enjoyment from it go for it .

Yes I get it, got it in GPL as well, 90% of this feeling came from not wanting to make ass of myself by ramming the driver in front of me.

Talking about the true great drivers of LFS( aliens) you have nothing to worry about they will give you room in a race then pass you without you knowing

And the replay facility.... Its an instant palliative to most situations if you review the incident from the other drivers point of view (or from above). On more than one occasion I've played back an incident that I was certain was the result of poor judgement from another driver, only to witness my own limitations written just as large

Same here . plus it can be educational watching replays and when there was good racing they're a geniune pleasure to watch at the end of the day with my mug of Horlicks with added prozac

A small minority of fast" drivers" believe its win at ANY cost, taking out a slower driver.. NP.

I respect many racers as well, driving fast laps is a small part of it, its the way they treat others on the track, they pass when its safe, they back off even though they are far faster than there oppenent

They do it the hard way.

I really hate taking people out of races. I'll usually pull over, or if I'm really mortified I'll spectate. The LFS equivalent of the ground opening up and swallowing you.

Shocking feeling Isn't it, makes me feel like a green felt frog every time

No not wrong.

Clean first.. there is nothing worse than gaining a position at the expense of a bad move on another driver, what makes racing online good for me is seeing a drivers you Know and respect on your tail and KNOW your going to get a fair race, and that happens a lot therein lies the pleasure of LFS for me.

We all make mistakes I know I do ,but when the flag drops my main concern is avoiding taking other drivers out in the first few turns. now that is probably not a good mindset for winning races, but I cant drive any other way.

Been racing the Silver/Gold server for the last week or so and I tell you one thing i've been impressed with how clean the racing is,, hard racing yes but clean.

Moved onto the XRT a few days ago and I'm finding it a handfull to get up to speed ( great fun), plus I'm seeing "this is your first lap" message a LOT, never raced so many new combo's its like LFS used to feel like for me when I first bought it.

Well done to all at STCC
