FOX and club can be heaven or hell, depending on who is in behind you at t1, racing earlier it was the forked tail variety

Fox is such a stable car to drive ( makes for good racing)then it bites when you dont expect it( makes for many expletives and death threats)

It was like the Opray Winnfrey show last night without the bouncers

Quote :I've had a spate of people just religiously holding their line like Rosberg did today in the GP. I'm completely along side them into corners like the right hander after the straight at Blackwood and they just won't yield

Hi Mike
Are you on the inside at this point, in what way should they yield, and why? would you concede the corner if the roles were reversed.

Interesting subject

One thing we should remember ITS NOT REAL never will or can be.

Quote :Best thing to do is to race others as they race you

.

Yes I agree 100% with that but If I implemented it , it would end in a blood bath in some cases.

When would everyone feel its ok to make a pass attempt on the inside?.

1: ahead of the car on the racing line.
2: level with car.
3: half a car behind.
4: just enough behind to read the numberplate.

Framerate will vary a lot depending on how many cars are on track, and how many are in front of you .
I have a 3.3G p4 with a GF 6800 GT and can get 30FPS at the back of a full grid, rising to 100FPS+ with no other cars.

GPL great memories for me, drifting never felt so good.

The biggest buzz I got from any PC "game" came from GPL.
But times move ..LFS has everything apart from the sound, cars feel great to drive, and since the patch driving smooth almost slow, and seeing the lap times tumble .... great stuff.

Its all there we just need a Patch for the human's.

Pit every time... for me winning a race using last lap pit would make me feel like the biggest loser in LFS.

What prize do we get when we win?.

Pitting on last lap, gives you around a 7 second lower overall race time ( at ASnat)than the majority that does pit .

Its not tactics its disrespect to you fellow driver's .. VAST majority of races with pit are 20 laps at most, would you say its then wrong to pit on last lap in 20 lap race, or 10 laps? where is the cutoff point where its ok?

There is no way you can defend pitting on last lap.

Winning is everything, but winning fair and square...priceless.

I wrote a novel on the back straight at Blackwood in the UF1000...

The plot was thin and the butler wrecked everyone at t1

I have problems with racing and chatting, I need 100% concentration just racing and anticipating other drivers moves. the fact my KB is about a metre away dosn't help, but the real problem is my brain dosn't multi task very well, wish I had one of those new fancy dual core brains

PS: its a good Idea to wait untill the race is finished to ask for setups.

Skin folder is 802mb here.
I race in the insane bracket and I average about 2-5 gig a month, but this includes downloading lots of HD WMP demos.

Have a look ...its stunning stuff http://www.microsoft.com/windo ... ideo/contentshowcase.aspx

LFS is no bandwith hog, no worries there.

Quote :@John Penn: The 2 second rule doesn't apply here. We're racing not motorway cruising.

Lol .problem is in many cases were doing neither.
Have been enjoying online racing since GPL in 1998, these cars are a LOT harder to control and yes we got t1 smashes , but in LFS its getting worse not better ,just thinking about AS club at t1 , ohh boy an exercise in futility.

I think it relates to driver's in real life who when the road gets fogged up,
there answer is to go faster to get out of it quicker, and you know what happens next.

I still believe that hitting a car infront of you is ALWAYS your fault unless the driver in front brakes early to cause mischief.

BTW you should try driving on the M8 in rush hour,2 second rule LOL

Quote :But when there are 10 rows of cars approaching t1 and a car in front brakes 25 metres too soon, it's their own fault when they get collected

,

What does collected mean? what about observing the car in front of you and reacting accordingly,( who decides where the correct point to brake is. ?,
Were racing not hotlapping.

I have been nudged to saftey about 30 times today, I thank the kind drivers for trying to save me . but come on.

Everyone brakes differently and at different time's thats why LFS Racing is a great challenge, and FUN.

At T1 there is no correct braking point that is goverened by the car in front of you ....end of story

This week I have been racing a lot on the blackwood/GTI Mercury server and at times I have been pullling (what little I hair I have) out at the lack of respect from some drivers, but on the flip side the majority of the races and drivers have gave me some of the best Racing I have had in LFS. no contact, close racing, and knowing the driver just behind you will not make some crazy and impossible inside move at the corner... priceless.

Rather than ram a car in front of me, I will run off the track If I can.
Its about respect, not so I can feel morally better, but because it feels good to race others and win or lose you don't do it at there expense.

I see other LFS user's who drive like this everyday, and that is why I keep plugging away.

Who said this was just a game

Just watched the replay, what has that got to with LFS and racing other's online, if this LFS user wants to do this to produce a WR ,I wont loose any sleep over it.

I bought LFS to race others online and meet other poor addicted souls.
Its like saying I can play the minute waltz in 50 seconds( my PB BTW
But its what happens when you go on the stage that counts.

HI how can I send replays to nassa admin.
Another great race night ruined by 1 person

cheers

Yes I've seen and been on the receiving end of wreckers in s2.... not bad drivers.... or inexperienced drivers, but wreckers, worst of all many of them were part time wreckers, who could and do drive ok at other times
then due to boredom , lack of sense ,, whatever take pleasure in wrecking other's races.

I could name at least 20 Licenced wreckers (backed up with replay evidence) but whats the point, what I should have done was send the replays to the relevant server admin's at the time, but through lazyness or sheer apathy I didn't.

But even though the number of wreckers are very small in comparison to all the other good ,clean drivers out there ,it only takes a few to have an impact of LFS

So in future I will save ALL wrecking behaviour and send it to the relevant admin, or even better some central database where server owners can check and decide if they want these "racers" on there server's.

Can't remember this problem n S1.. excluding demo servers.

If you leave the track you have to rejoin when its safe, I have gone "walkabout" many times and the first thing I do is look at the map before returning to the track.

BTW hope the guys involved in this were asked if its ok before posting replay?.

Quote :n00b: A newcomer who is lacking in skill and behaves recklessly online not caring about taking out other racers because they don't know where braking points etc are

.

Ahh yes ok, I use a different word to describe this type of driver.

Regarding learning track's online thats the way I did it, joined a server watched a few races, then entered the track well away from others, all the time keeping an eye on the map for other racer's, as I got to know the track I would start from the back of the pack , leaving lots of room between me and the other drivers, funny thing is how quick you catch up at t1 .

What makes a "good" driver there is a question.

New drivers, (dont say Noobs arghhh )

I have seen many new drivers this week who are really slow ,learning the track , etc.. but I would share track space with them anytime, you trust them going into a corner that they will not make an impulsive move that wrecks both of you.

They give you respect on track, and respect is always paid back.

Good Idea Marc, but driving ability does not alway's mean clean racing , human nature and hormones usually bugger it up

Quote :dunno, I told to mate to buy a pair as good headphones on a tight budget, he loves them to bits, but they weren't a pinch on my Beyer's at the time, which sound muffled compared to my new Grados.... which are less than 10 times the price of the PX100s

.

I'm not a grado fan at any price Way too sharp to my old ears.
In 20 years of buying HI FI these Cheap little headphones really blew me away, and still do the fidelity of the sound is way beyond its price tag.

I never liked using headphones with LFS , the extra clarity they bring also highlights some of the weakness in the LFS sounds as it stands at the moment.
