The forum has changed beyond recognition for the worse since I signed up for a tour of LFS,does it bother me? ...no.. I have the option of not reading.
On the track things are still look healthy, seen some new drivers who will do very nice in the months and hopefully years ahead.
Observed a change where a few years ago blatant Wreckers would post on the forum and would come over like very reasonable misunderstood chaps, thankfully that trend now seems reversed.

I wish this and other forums were here when I studied Psychology years ago... rich pickings.

I went into Curry's and even with a crap signal and default garish settings one set stood out by a large margin the 42" pioneer Kuro 768 pixel set, expensive but worth it, Had mine for 6 Months now.

Viewing Blu ray films It beats any 1080p LCD set I've seen and for viewing freeview or standard broacast material the difference is even bigger, shame they stopped making them.

From my point of view up to 18 was sheer bliss looking back, there was no internet, I was always short of money, there was Led Zepplin and I saw a unknown band at Stirling University at the age of 17 called " Queen" with the women who later became my wife .

Technology has transformed our live's since my stone age days, but I think where it really count's nothing has changed.
Enjoy life its painfully short, stop bitching and complaining.

PS :I complained as well at the time but the Internet was so slow back in the 70's its only coming through now.

Rock on

We only' Buy' the software, the real reward comes from other user and putting a value on that lately makes for pretty depressing reading TBH.
Had 3+ years of laughs and good racing so I got a bargain and then some.

Quote from Glenn67 :Definately not the first couple the first couple I was aware of was roadhog and sexkitten - anyone remember them from s1 demo days They were both alot of fun. Sexkitten in particular had a whole lot of F binds that used to have the server in stitches whenever she raced

oh yeah, welcome to S2 guys enjoy your stay

Yes I remember them on theTeam400 server when I first tried Teamspeak, her casual swearing would have make Peter cook and Dudley Moore proud.Have many good memories of those days, cracking racing but more importantly some really good laughs.

Thanks for the free car much appreciated.

The crash bug that I keep hearing about can be alleviated by not hitting the wall/ object/ which in real life would end your race and probably kill you many times over from what I've observed over the years.

When do we get Human upgrade?

We have a happy ending.
One thing I would add if you see someone blatantly wrecking and It doesn't involve you... get involved.

I got my £24 worth after the first few weeks, everything else a bonus. Content isn't the problem new tracks/cars would be sticking plasters.
I think we have too many servers, and a general apathy to online conduct or lack of it, many bitch and complain when they get carved up or wrecked but If its someone else... tough.

I see team members tacitly excepting there fellow team members inexcusable behavior I see admins not practicing what they they preach.

But ...Just one more race.

There are many server's where you will get a good race.
Never drifted in a racing sim apart from GPL where it actually worked and made sense .

BTW the GTI still provides some of the best racing going on pickup races, has done for 4 years +, don't attribute low speed with boring racing its far from it.

The most important thing is your fellow racers and not the car/track combo, you get to know the good guys/gals pretty quick if you watch and listen.

Quote from mrodgers :I don't believe he claims it as him having a problem with it. Sam just gave the OP a suggestion. A valid suggestion IMO.

A little story. I was once new to LFS. I found the forum on RSC. When I wasn't racing (if that is what you'd call it back then) I was on the forum on RSC. I joined in 2005, and I was reading forum posts that dated clear back to when the first demo was released. My point, I was interested in LFS, so I used my reading ability to learn more about it, all on my own.

I fly RC airplanes (or use to until I crashed it for the final time). It is quite intimidating to fly RC for the first time. You can go out and spend $1000 or more very easily, launch it in the air and within mere seconds, have a $1000 pile of scrap sitting 10 feet in front of you. I didn't want that to happen. I wanted to purchase the right aircraft to get me flying, get me learning, and allow me to join the hobby. I didn't ask on the RC forum, I read the RC forum. I found the million threads asking "what 1st airplane?" I noticed a pattern of X, Y, and Z airplanes being suggested to a beginner. I searched out info on X, Y, and Z airplanes. I learned the pros and cons of those and narrowed it down further. I purchased my first airplane with that information and never made a single post. I was completely happy with my selection and posted my first on the RC forum with my enthusiasm after the first day of launching it in the air and flying.

I flew my "beginner" airplane for 2 years, and crashed it many many times as well. I had thousands of flights on it. It was a fantastic purchase to get me flying in the RC hobby. I had a great experience because I researched it and made up my own mind from the information I had right in front of me.

Sometimes, I wonder if I am the only one in the world who gets interested in something such as RC, sim racing, guitar, photography, or whatever hobby I am in at the moment that actually seeks out information and knowledge on my own rather than finding a forum and immediately asking questions.

I can fly RC airplanes, race with racing simulators, play guitar, shoot photography in full manual mode, fly flight sims, play GTA, and everything else I do without ever having the need to ask a question on a forum.

I sometimes wonder, how did my daughter ever learn to ride a bike? She is of the current generation of children, and she never asked how to ride a bike on a forum. How in the world did she do that? People today have no patience to learn anything. They want instant gratification, and you don't get that by seeking out the information themselves.

The funniest ones are those who ask a question on forums, then post 10 minutes later, "No one want to answer me?" I have to laugh every time I see that.

I fly model aircraft as well, have done since 2005, I recently built my first large model http://www.apacheaviation.co.uk/Chipmunks/Pepsi/pepsi.html wood ,glue and months of swearing later I flew it, Incredibly rewarding and terrifying in equal measures.

To OP I find you get what you give in LFS at least on the track, yes there a few on the forums who seems to enjoy flaming others, for me I never really saw the appeal of It.

LFS is just like life you get the good ,the bad and Ugly.

I think surround sound would be a great addition to LFS, adds a lot to the immersion factor, and hearing where a car is can only be a good thing don't you think?.

All the fernbay tracks are good fun , gold has great camber changes, Club t1 Is one of my favorite corners, such a tactile and satisfying corner especially when you trailbrake it, don't like gold reverse T1 ,mental corner with ever changing kerbs
My favorites are still Blackwood, Kyoto national, Westhill, and Aston Historic ,technical tracks that just feel and look more" real" to me, with corners you can get your teeth into

When you learn the tracks and nuances of the car's a good setup is like a breath of fresh air,If your new to LFS you will not appreciate the difference I know I didn't.
Setups can and do make a huge difference to the lap times no one races with default sets.

To my shame I have never tried doing a setup My first port of call is always Shop of Inferno

Forget about doing a fast lap, think line and smoothness, the emphasis being on the later you will know when you get it right as you will get a pb

BTW the best laps always "feel" slow

This latest cheat doesn't effect my enjoyment of LFS ,seen these " not there for racing" LFS users many times and I don't give a damn about them.

We should think about what's important in LFS, now for me cheating in hot laps is waaay down the scale, I'm far more worried about empty servers and a general malaise in LFS.

less posting and more passing
