I use m0n0wall. It's very small, and runs fine on old hardware. i'm running it on a Pentium 1 200Mhz, it manages 44 mbit throughput with 2 Intel network adapters.
If you have a more powerful system, take a look at pfsense. It's basically m0n0wall on steroids, it has a lot more features.

Quote from gezmoor :The upload is what it is. It's down to the technical limitations of the Cable network. You are never going to get high upload speeds on a cable network. Just like with ADSL, the download/upload speeds will always be heavily asymetric. Just something you're going to have to accept basically.

0.5 mbit certainly isn't a technical limitation. 10 mbit upload is offered over here (with 120 mbit down), and the platform (eurodocsis 3) supports up to 108 mbit. That cable company probably never upgraded it's hardware...

Quote from BlueFlame :Look's like it's so old, it's a collectable.

Nokia 1611, made in 1997 A new feature on this model was that is was capable of sending SMS messages

If you thought the 3310 was a brick, this one weighs twice as much, a whopping 250 gram

And it uses a fullsize simcard, not just the little tab

If he cleans it everytime like that there will be no paint left after a few years :P
Why the hell would someone spend so much time on such a mass produced car... Detailing a rare car is ok, but why bother on an Astra Now you can clearly see that every panel has typical mass production "flaws". So much effort on polishing the front bumper, which isn't even properly color matched.... So much effort on cleaning the interior plastic, which doesn't even fit properly....

Measuring the paint thickness is just retarded Even the most expensive Mercs are sometimes partially resprayed after transport. Face it, you can't transport and store thousands of cars in a sealed box. Maybe if you buy a Rolls or something equally expensive, but every other mass produced car is transported with just some protective stickers. It's not like it's been resprayed by an idiot with a can of paint from the local DIY store, most car storage facilities have a professional resprayer on site.
You should be thankful if it has been resprayed. Twice the paint thickness for the same price

Do you really believe the Zimbabwean dollar will be worth anything within a reasonable amount of time?

It does make a nice birthday gift, a suitcase with millions of Z$.

Ah, IL2.

Shot to pieces on final, but still made it

Too bad not all aircraft are flyable in-game. It requires some modifications (or go to a server that has all aircraft unlocked) to fly all aircraft, but AI aircraft like this B-29 don't have any interior. You also can't do proper bombruns with AI planes, since they don't have a bombsight.

Get one of those static discharge keychains. You'll have to touch your car with the keychain gizmo first, then it's safe to touch the car.
If you're really cheap, get a 1 megaohm resistor. Works the same as the keychain or lightbulb, but only costs about 1 Zimbabwean dollar.

At least it was a graphical interface.

My first pc had this interface:

And a bit later later this:

btw, the file manager and graphical interface of Windows 3.1 were still shipped with Windows XP, they were removed since XP SP2. start -> run -> progman for the graphical interface, and start -> run -> winfile for the file manager.

Get a license first. Driving without one could get you into massive trouble. Not just a ticket, but also problems with your insurance company. They dont pay anything if you cause a crash. Hospital beds cost up to €2000 per day. If they need a surgeon, well, you might want to win a lottery then.

Quote from theirishnoob :well, to be fair diesel 9 times out of 10 gets you further then petrol so its better for the environment

Diesel emits far more NOx and soot particles. Petrol just emits slightly more CO2. NOx and soot are proven bad, they cause smog and air pollution. CO2 is claimed to be bad by an idiot whose household consumes 20 times more electricity than the average household and flies a private jet all over the world to tell you about using less energy.

But what's the point anyway. If you want a slightly less polluting car, don't buy a fast car.

Quote from mrodgers :
What I would love to do is the virtual flying with video goggles.

Or real model flying with video goggles:

It's an Esky lama coaxial helicopter, very easy to fly. And it's cheap, about $80 ready to fly.

Not really a book, but a lot of useful information:
http://regedit.gamedev.pl/Mirr ... hysics%20for%20Games.html

Of course it doesn't cover everything, but it's a very useful reference to use. It doesn't give a specific implementation, that's all up to you.
