Only fully manual & 720 degrees for me since I got the G25. I´m usually 1-3 secs slower than the flatshifting setupcheating paddlepullers (:tilt because I tend to leave more room for mistakes now that it isn't 95% certain to succeed in braking and downshifting any more. So when doing a 10 lap race I can be at the top because of increased consistancy. Saves the tires too. I miss many shifts on the 10 laps though and it always pisses me off
Operating the clutch in LX6 gives great feedback and is probably the best car to learn it in, imo.
I´m really looking forward to the incompatible stuff that's coming up
for the newbies fine but it would take a popup to explain/give a choise so it's much of an annoyance to all the screenshot generators. maybe it could be clicked like "don't show me this stuff ever again".
I don't know who recommended you to use spring and damper effects but LFS doesn't take any advantage from them, only the opposite if anything. Also centering spring can most likely be unticked as the newer driver software doesn't have that certain bug anymore...
I'd like to know what car/setup/track combo are you using to test this? If UFR@SO5R with 100% forces doesn't shake your wheel in every bump and rumble strip then I'd be worried.
I'd like to know exactly what kind of effects were you getting on the MS wheel that are now missing with the DFP..?
Also set the overall effects strenght to about 105-110% in the Game Controllers section, it gets rid of the annoying non-linearity near the center with the logitech drivers.
I just installed the 64bit version of Vista and my desktop resolution is 1024x768 by default. I also installed the 64bit ATI drivers but still I´m not able to set it to the native 1024x1280 res. Is this a common problem or what?
Did a quick test and LFS unlocked and ran fine, phew...
I joined the STCC server which was running the same combo as on the screenshot but alt-tabbed to windows (i know i shouldn't) and left it to load. When I maximized LFS it displayed an error which I can't remember but anyway it didn't let me join. I then closed LFS and started it again with pitspotter, tried to join the STCC server in a normal way but it was full so I went to SP mode to play with the XFG souds a bit. I wasn't able to go to the garage and when I clicked "add AI driver" it told me there is a race in progress. Going back to the start-up menu didn't solve the problem and changing the track didn't solve it either. Only restarting LFS did.
I got this after canceling the U35 autoupdate and pressing 'back' and very shortly after that 'button 15 ctrl_f4', which is mapped to '/exit'. Wasn't able to reproduce it...
I hope the skid sounds won't be amplified any more than they currently are. The limits of grip and the whole awerness of what's going on should come to you in a balanced array of all the information LFS is giving you, for many reasons. PPL should get rid of the bad habit. I got skids at minimum, wind maxed and engine at 6 and I can hear the squealing even in a closed cockpit environment quite well. TBO's make too much noise as well IMO. This is when racing with decent headphones.
IMO the only proper way to model a RL track is to do it the way iRacing is doing it. I can't think of any reason why I'd want to see RL tracks in LFS. More from Eric in S3 and I'm completely satisfied.
Guys(esp. Tristan), how realistic do you find the tire sounds in nkp? Slicks in particular. I never hear them squeal, just a big swooOOSHhh when I spin. Is that correct at all?
Right now I'm going to put my friends Delta Audiophile 2496 soundcard in to hear the difference in sound quality with my onboard AC'97.
edit: Nope, can't hear any difference. I wonder what's all the fuss about with on-board audio being lousy...And LFSU30 still crackles on high revs.
