I'm confused. Why don't you put a wooden/plastic/whatever material piece behind the lip?

Quote from deggis :I'm still hoping someone would hack RBR source code so it would be possible to create mods with totally new physics, as long as that won't happen proper Group B physics or RWD at all isn't just possible.

IMO the only proper way to model a RL track is to do it the way iRacing is doing it. I can't think of any reason why I'd want to see RL tracks in LFS. More from Eric in S3 and I'm completely satisfied.

Guys(esp. Tristan), how realistic do you find the tire sounds in nkp? Slicks in particular. I never hear them squeal, just a big swooOOSHhh when I spin. Is that correct at all?

Right now I'm going to put my friends Delta Audiophile 2496 soundcard in to hear the difference in sound quality with my onboard AC'97.

edit: Nope, can't hear any difference. I wonder what's all the fuss about with on-board audio being lousy...And LFSU30 still crackles on high revs.

Quote from skstibi :Hey! Those first 6 pictures are mine, check yer Messages. It will show me to be the source of those pictures. You can use them just try giving credit to the right person . Lucky I did not do any modding because I had to send the wheel back.

Sorry, I left your name out because I wasn't sure you'd want it there or not, edited!

Quote from Bob Smith :I don't mind at all, but why would you need to duplicate the photos from this thread onto a server in the first place?

Well I thought I'd collect all G25 related pics there just to be sure. Anything can happen and so on...

Pics of the shifter provided by skstibi and Bob Smith, thanks and hope you don't mind.

So what would be the best way to mod it? Just remove the leather and add a custom H-gate, which would probably be enough to add some grunt to the noise and possibly some additional resistance as well. In order to do that the plastics have to be carved away from left & right sides, correct?

Indianapolis 500 at the age of 10. Ran pretty smooth on our 20mhz 286 actually. The debris on collision was great! I loved fiddling with the setups back then and I'm trying to get that feeling back again.

Not so foolish to me...Something like this has to be implemented in some way and at some point, definitely. It's just a bit complicated, isn't it!

Damn, I wish I had something to suggest but I don't. Consider this a "+1" then.

Real mirrors get corrupted when alt+tabbing here as well. I did it a few times in a row, happened every time. No other way to get them corrupted, it seems. However, I then opened catalyst control center to check stuff out, closed it and wasn't able to reproduce it any longer. I had rebooted earlier so the drivers should have been all loaded etc.

To disable LFS generated sounds just press SHIFT+N. I don't recommend that though, less feedback. SHIFT+F4 get's LFS windowed so you can set CSR volume for each car individually. CSR remembers the setting next time.

I got mine setup like this

CSR volume for all cars 1 or 2

LFS:

Engine 8.0
Skids 1.7
Wind 3.0
Echo 1.2

Try if that's any better.

Seems like your wheel has 180 degrees of rotation. So set wheel turn to 180.

Yeah, nothing wrong about GTL having it. Almost nothing wrong with the flat spot effect netkar pro had, but it seems Scawen has chosen not to implement these things, for a good reason. And I like it.

Try to run LFS without any Antialias/Anisotropic filtering.

Set them to "Application Controlled" or "Let the application decide" from your graphics card drivers.

It should shake your race frame - the whole setup you sit on, including the wheel. To do that requires a force dynamics set or something similar.

GTL just has that effect to please your senses, it REALLY shouldn't even be there...

Well I feel there's only one way to set up any wheel with 900 degrees of rotation for any car. The only variable is the strenght of force feedback which is up to personal preference. That is if you want realistic steering at all. Logitech Momo wheels have 270 degrees of rotation so it is only realistic with the MRT, on any other car it needs compensation.

What wheel do you have and what are your settings?

Quote from Omen :...I´ve made a sound file and hope that you can hear the problem...

I get that as well, just not as audible. AC'97 onboard with the latest drivers.

Hmm sounds pretty good!

Dynamic LOD reduction: Sets the value for the dynamic change of "Level of Detail". Zero means no, and one is full dynamic LOD reduction. This makes the Level of Detail change dynamically depending on how many cars are visible and on your current framerate. Use higher values if you experience slowdowns when multiple cars are visible.

sin[nk] states this:

Wheel turn is the value that determines dependence of car's wheels angle from controller's wheel angle (you can adjust this also with steering lock and wheel turn compensation). What you see in cockpit view - is the graphical representation of your actions. You can affect only smoothnes or nonlinearity of this, but car's steering wheel lock-to-lock angle is constant. (for example: mrt has 270 degrees and lx6 - 720)

AndroidXP states this:

Each car in LFS has a fixed wheel turn rate (which is what you want changed). If you set the "Wheel turn" option in controllers correctly to your wheels turn rate, then full lock on your wheel will always mean full lock in game, iirc. The wheel turn compensation will not alter this, but only the steering curve, which is linear at 0% wtc and gets more non linear the closer you move it to 100% (1.0). What wtc tries to accomplish is to make the steering around the center as close as possible to the one in the car.

Example:
Wheel turn 270°
LFS car turn 540°

Without wtc, 1° rotated on wheel is 2° rotated ingame, everywhere.
With full wtc, 1° rotated on wheel is 1° rotated ingame around the center of steering, but closer to 3-4° on the edges.

Basically, wheel turn compensation gives you more precision on the center and less on the extreme steering angles.

I don't know exactly what happens if you have more wheel turn available then the car in LFS (which is likely with a DFP). My guess is that the steering will always be fully linear, and on a MRT for example you'd need to turn your wheel more than 3° to turn it 1° ingame (hence the preferred method to catch a slide is "flailing arms of doom").
Clutch + shifter only -event

Don't know if this has been discussed in the past but now that the G25 has spread across the globe, would it be feasible to organise an event which forces the use of a clutch and a shifter?

Looks pretty bad to me. I would definitely rather reinstall than try to fix something that takes 5 mins to shut down when it's 'working'. I'd also install all software from scratch as just copying stuff from C:\Program Files\ might work with LFS, it will pose problems on other software.

Good luck!

Quote from Psycho Evangelion :I plugged in the wheel. NOTHING. The LEDS on the wheel did not go on, nor did the wheel auto center as it always does. I restarted the software, restarted the hardware, nothing worked.

It is happening again!

I haven't used the wheel for about 3 months now. I plugged it in, nothing. Thought I'd change the potentiometers and check inside if there was something wrong. Nothing.

Any ideas?
