Don't worry, picture is coming, got a pm from Bozo (the guy who took our group pic) He emailed it to Ben, so it should be up tomorrow or Saturday. Ben right now is at a Trivium concert here in portsmouth... it will be up shortly though
Well Niko, you could have at least let us know that you weren't coming by simply saying that you can't make it. I don't know whether you reason is true, all I know is if I had to travel to another country for a meet, I would be in contact with people all of the time to make sure its all going ahead as planned and tell them whether I can make it or not and WOULD CERTAINLY NEVER EVER FORGET THE DAY I HAD TO FLY OUT!!! EVER!! NEVER EVER!
so you excuse doesn't really hold up.
It doesn't matter too much, we only had to pay £2.50 on top... but it would have been nice of you to be more in contact or at least say that you are not coming. Some people ever reported you browsing the forums on Saturday
That's right, people can always overthrow a government. Just look at Ukraine and Thailand for some examples.
Ukraine is where they had the orange revolution, where people were standing outside during sub zere temperatures demanding the election as fraud and corrupted.
People often say, that protesting doesn't work and that it won't change anything but if a half million people actually get up off their arses and actually do something governments would take note. Governments are all scared of mass protests, they are uncontrollable, they cant stop them and when one happens there is very little government can do. Unless you are in the UK where the British Government banned and outlawed any protests outside the Parliament building in a 2 mile radius. Here in the UK its just as bad, I've spoken to so many people about what they think of Tony Blair and his government and many have very strong views and disagree which a lot of things the government does but rather then getting of their arse and doing something they just talk words. It's sad but that's the way it is.
Hankstar's posts above really hit the nail on the head.
Please guys don't turn this into another America bashing thread!!! We have head way too many of them already.
Yes, after the massacre they were banned but look at the UK now, UK is suffering from the ever increasing gun crime. Just go back a few weeks and you will hear about shootings in a London suburb. Banning guns doesn't really solved the problem, if someone wants a gun then they will get their hands on it whatever means necessary. I am sure it wouldn't be that difficult in the UK either.
In America it does seem to be way too easy to pick up a gun though, it shouldn't be that simple to simply walk into a store, say hello, right I want that one. What XC said earlier in the thread. by making things legal like drugs and guns you will get rid of the problem because then there wouldn't be any need for having them I disagree. I just don't see by legalizing everything you will solve the problem. The sort of people that take drugs usually come from deprived families, have social problems, are part of city gangs, for pleasure and then you have the addiction. To these people legalizing drugs would mean peanuts. If you take alcohol for example, (yes its a poisonous drug) alcohol is legal pretty much everywhere, accessible everywhere, but it doesn't stop people from drinking. Here in the UK we are suffering from binge drinking and its becoming a serious problem, alcohol is way too easily accessible and when that happens people start to consume way more! Same would happen with drugs and guns.
It's they way it goes in today's world, certain countries have world media priority. Main point with Iraq is that so many people have been dieing daily people kinda get use to the headlines and when you see the mess in Iraq you don't really expect anything else, they should start reporting days where no one was killed.
In America school shootings are not unheard off, they've happened before and people always knew at some point they will happen again, just no one knew when. When they happen its usually a big shock as you wouldn't expect these sort of atrocities going on in a developed stable country. Any loss of life is sad but 32 people dead is nothing compared to the death-toll in Iraq.
I just feel sorry it had it was the students, young people who had their life still to live.... very sad and I can't believe the campus wasn't closed when the two shootings happened few hours earlier.
Some of these features you have talked about deggis are in S.T.A.L.K.E.R There you are limited by the amount of weight that you can carry, mas is 60kg, if you have over that you simply cannot move, this bit "not moving" is a little bit silly as you just stop and all you can do is look around until you drop a gun or ammo or anything that you can to make you lighter again. Nice little feature is that when you are close to the limit say 59kg and you run, climb jump this seriously hurts your stamina bar, goes down very very quickly. If you were only loaded by 10kg of weight then your stamina goes down very slowly and you can run further jump and climb anything. It also has bleeding after you get shot your health bar continues to drop and you have to bandage yourself up, you can also get radiation poisoning which severely affects you and your health keeps dropping until you inject yourself with some anti radiation medicine.. or drink Vodka lol... Still though the rest is unrealistic, shoot em ups can never be as realistic as real life as deggis already pointed out.. unless they start selling guns with the game that you would hook up to your pc via usb, mount it on your monitor and next time you get shot in a game it will shoot you. hmmm lol
think games are realistic as they possibly will get for now, until processor power and graphic power develops and people find a new way to give you reality.
Really nice tutorials, this image is just soo cool if the car in the distance wasn't breaking it would easily look like its all just a miniature toy... great stuff. Will play around with it at somepoint...
I have today downloaded and installed the W9 test patch and I have also come across the bug where by joining a server picking your car and then leaving your garage I was booted off with a "false start - return to spectate" message as I drove out of the pits. I have been trying to reproduce it but with no luck. It only happened the first time I actually joined a server with this patch and after that all seems well
Serious Sam 2? hmm interesting... doesn't really remind me of that as that was too much gung ho, kick ass, being swamped by hundreds of enemies type of game... Stalker has quite an eerie atmosphere and its like fear/oblivion..
man... I am knackered.... long and painful cycle home!
The event was a great success, really a good day....
Pub was good, once people started to turn up it then got nice and chatty...
Racing was a great experience, the 20min GPL session was good fun even though I knew what to expect although it seemed a lot easier to drive with the big projector screens, I was quite surprised to be top of the time sheets for that one only though by +0.025s away from Chris (Viper)
The LFS races and qualy was good fun too, managed to grab a first place in the qualifying, race grid was then reversed and on a track such as South City Town it always provides a lot of action which it certainly did. Had a nice race with Bob in that one...
The second LFS race at Fern Bay gold went well too (to my surprise), after my not so good qualifying I started 3rd in the reversed grid and then managed to win one one having a close race with Bozo until our slight contact which caused him to touch the grass...
The venue was better than what I expected, seeing the pictures I didnt think much of it but actually seeing it in the flesh was great and those big projector screens are wicked. The pods them selves were nice and comfy except pod number 7 which was just too small for my ass and were fully adjustable. Pedals had a really nice feel to them too and were 100x better than my momo ones at home.. Staff at the venue were really friendly and it was great to meet Adrian and co. Was good too see him come out after the event for food and beer, was also cool to get a ride in his Lotus!!!! :hyper: cheers again! We engaged on some lenghty discussions about GPL, LFS and other things sim related and it was really nice and relax end to the day.
must do it again soon!
thanks to everyone who attended, was great to meet you and good fun to race
Yeah.. i am sure it will take some time to get use to the fov and the distance from the screen, also the pedals and momos will be different.. gonna be fun... i havent drunk a single beer for over a 2 weeks its been a draught so loking forward to the after race drinking... hope a few people will hang around after the race..
