It looks like a fun laptop as long as it is not your only pc. I think i'll buy one of those. They're good for console stuff, internet (although the resolution isn't enough for most websites), e-mail and it's a perfect e-book reader. You should have an other computer if you do more then those tasks (like playing LFS)
Most small laptops cost more. Only some 15,4" laptops are cheap, but that's indeed big for a portable device. I have seen Chineese 12" laptops (WXGA so much higher resolution) for a little more then 500 euro's with coreduo. If the quality of those laptops isnt't too bad I forget about eee. You should be able to play LFS on those.
They can't be boring. All tracks are completely different. If you drive WR's on every track you can say you're bored, if you don't you don't get everything out of the track. I'm far from bored
You need a new motherboard as wel. And then you've almost replaced your complete pc. If you can sell your current one i should just go for a new one (only thing you can use from your current pc is harddrives (if you use sata) and your cd/dvd player/burner and maybe the case (you probably need a new power supply too )
Since you started taking rFactor and rFactormods in the discussion. A new LFS version does mean stuff will be missed. CTRA needed an update for patch X, Ghostcar , slickmod, smokemod and LFSTweak are incompatable with Patch X. It's not only the hotlaps.
They promised to make it more realistic. Maybe it is compared to Carbon i don't know. I can't even play it on my pc, so i can stay in my closet playing LFS
From what i've heared it's not very realistic. Cars with 400 HP still slow down when you take a corner. It looks nice, maybe i'll buy an Xbox someday and then arcaderacers can be fun.
Why do you worry about that? Then there will come something new. Maybe S4 with the same masterserver, or maybe everyone will be playing Need for Speed Carton.
You said "reinstall the game", not your entire computer
Or just install an other version in an other directory. A lot of people have multiple installs to be able to use other apps (slickmod, smokemod, ghostcar and so on) and to test stuff.
You did not use any crack? Cracks can do strange things and make games look bugged. (i don't expect an other answer then no, but if it is yes you could save us some time thinking about what it could be).
I did try early S1 versions but i did not play it enough to miss the old blackwood i guess. I played it a few times and a few years later (the S2 U or V patch ) i rediscovered LFS and bought S2
I don't think you can overclock it much. For me it is the bottleneck as well (XP 2000+, 756 MB ram andd an Radeon 9500@9700 pro).
Problem with this CPU it's already very warm (hot) at stock speeds. Last summer I had to underclock it to be able to use my pc. I've got a better cooler now, but it still doesn't overclock. For a 300/400 euro's you have a now PC with decent specs (amd X2 dualcore, 2gb ram and a videocart)
My pc does handle it well BTW. Decent framerates, but very low details with 30+ people on a track
I think you have to give more details of your pc (processor and memmory are important).
But i think most stuff from the startpost will work. It does on my 6/7(!) year old computer. Only when there are a lot of cars on the track it doesn't look that good anymore (all the details are gone, but it doesn't lag).
A SUV? Sure, why not. A Mercedes ML63 AMG and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S could be fun
I like that thought. Rally tracks where you ruine your car if you don't slow down. But there will always be aliens that can blow trough big stones full throttle.
Longest time for me is about 50 hours. I woke up on Thursday's at 07.00 am and went to sleep at Saturday's at 09.00 am every week for a few years because i worked Thursday and Friday nights and had to go to school during the daytime. It got me a head age every Saturday (like you have when you had to much to drink the other day)
And it was kind of allready there because they made a function you can sit on the left or on the right. Not to much work to make you sit on both sides and in the back to then.
