Quote from Eclipsed :Hmm,not sure if that would work - overwriting dds file would change skies graphically, but lighting will stay same,I believe.

For specific servers, yes, but not for specific channels within servers I don't think. You can change your nickname per server using the nickname command:

/nick your_nickname_here

Note that this command doesn't work on servers where the changing of nicknames is not permitted.

LFS COMMUNITY DISCORD SERVERS

Hello there,

I've set up a new Discord server for the Live for Speed community after the previous server hit trouble with the owner losing access to it. You can connect to it with this invitation.

Discord is a free text and voice chat application designed for gaming communities. I believe that LFS currently lacks a centre for community interaction that was previously filled by the LFS GameSurge IRC server which is now only used by those who have lurked there since the dawn of time. I hope that this server will act as some centre, other than the forum, for people to chat with others about LFS.

I hope to build it to the stage where we can set up channels for upcoming events and leagues in any driving sector (racing, drifting, cruising etc.). Currently we have channels set up for very general topics but, although we don't want to overload it, suggestions are welcome for new ones.

At the moment there are 3 server admins (TFalke55, MandulAA and myself), but I hope to recruit some moderators soon to help keep it a safe and open space for everyone to chat.

Thanks and happy chatting!

Pete

Unfortunately this collides with the BurnoutCrew CityLiga practice race otherwise I'd be there.

Have you tried running an ethernet cable from your PC directly to your router to rule out any problems with your mains/powerline adapters?

It's been suggested a lot but it would be nice to finally see full tyre change control being added to the F12 menu.

There was a race on Rockingham during CityLiga 23 where the race was lost because the leader was unlucky and changed too many tyres. It happens a lot actually but to lose a race because you didn't know the exact percentage wear on each tyre is silly. Let us choose which tyres to change, problem solved.

Riddick, that's unbelievable. Not what I expected from a driver of your caliber. What were you thinking?

I think I'm now glad I missed today's race. What a disgrace.

Auto clutch has always been a sort of gentleman's agreement in LFS. There are 2 sides to every argument but when it has a very clear advantage, even in a car with only 4 gears and a track with only 2 real corners, it should either be recommended or disallowed. So long as everyone knows what the accepted clutch method is, there can be no argument.

I'm firmly in the AC camp because BC feels unrealistic and cheaty.

As had been highlighted above, you're unlikely to be able to fix this easily.

Yes.

Wait what. I don't recall hindering anyone after the end. Frown

Edit: Ok, so on rewatch I hit Jared on my victory lap. This is worth a 1 lap penalty? In a derby event? That's no fun.

Quote from pik_d :Meaddie finished 3rd in the Bonus Run because he hit all the hidden objects in the tires. Shame about the text disappearing though.

I was gonna say, I'm fairly sure I won the bonus run Tongue

Shame about the text, Rony. Regardless, thanks for the effort you put in as always.

Quote from Ibtasim6781 :Still, whats the problem of it? Blackwood and Westhill are British circuits (cant remember if BL was real or fictional). Nothing will make the game different for having RHD maps or LHD maps. It depends of what the devs think of, either british or european.

The only real track in LFS is Rockingham, the rest are fictional.

Just pointing out that this patch, like 0.6P, overwrote the following files:

- data/sound/sirenfast.wav
- data/sound/sirenslow.wav

The kerbs in Q13 are now bearable. I just hope a quick-fix like this comes along for kerbs like WE1R T2 some time in the not so distant future. Thank you. Thumbs up

Quote from k_badam :Textures only change time of loading, as they are all loaded when you select the track/join a server.

Johnny, I believe that the curbs should work much better when the new tyre physics are, which, look like they could be out soon.

Indeed. This track, plus all of the other ones that Eric has been working on have been developed with the new tyre physics. I did a few laps of GP in various cars last night and the kerbs really were a problem when I hit the sweet-spot where the tyre-glitches happen. I can only assume that the glitches we currently experience with the current tyre physics have been alleviated with the new physics else we would be seeing fewer of these types of kerbs rather than more. Until the new tyre physics head our way, we're going to need to approach the kerbs with as much caution as do for WE1R T2 etc.
