Quote from Scawen :I've been working on a 1000Hz update rate for the physics that allows better time steps between graphical frames so that should help with VR if I can manage to sort out the remaining issues.

Heart

That's definitely a higher priority than targeting any more XR standards at this point, great to hear you're working on it. The skipped frames in VR is the only thing that stops it from being a perfect implementation in my opinion.

Quote from gu3st :Wish I just had more free time to actually play games with it rather than somewhat proof of concept all my usecases for it.

This is the main reason I never bought a Switch. Thanks for the summary though, it is tempting.

Impressive. Every time I see posts about the Steam Deck, I want one more and more... This might just do it if the experience is good enough?

Quote from Victor :Question for the streamers:

I'd like to add options to store stream URLs to seasons / rounds. But I was wondering if the stream URL is always the same, in which case I can add it to a season. But if it changes per round (event) it should be stored with each round individually.

I think the Twitch streams are usually the same URL, but I'm not sure how it works with YouTube and others? Are those different urls for each stream?

Just saw this.

For Twitch it's always the same, but for YouTube it generates a new URL every time, with the next scheduled live stream available via the vanity URL: youtube.com/channel_name/live

For Sim Broadcasts, I'll now be scheduling every round before a season begins, so the list of URLs and VODs will be known ahead of time if that helps?

Quote from MrWave :Frown
So option one it is. I updated race distance in the first post

Or accept that managing tyre heat will be part of the challenge, unless an update to the mod can be made to improve it before then.

Quote from MrWave :Or we can try and do some inSim trickery, something along the lines of
if (tyre_temp>threshold) {tyre_temp = acceptable_value;}

That said, I'm not familiar enough with inSim to tell if it's actually possible. Also a sudden jump in tyre temp is, probably, very disturbing, so it would have to be cleverly masked somehow

What do you think is better?

You cannot do that with InSim.

Quote from nexttime :Your reply is the forum equivalent of changing the rim size of an already existing car and pretending that you made a new car.

Ah, I didn't see your reply. I had mine drafted earlier in the day but didn't post it until later. Big grin

@Scawen: if you want livestream links, there will need to be a field in each event listing for that information in the leagues system.

There's a bunch of space on the LFS landing screen, maybe you can create a simple News/Calendar UI there?

There's a lot of real estate, and it's the one place everyone who plays LFS visits every time they want to race. It doesn't have to include much info, just enough to direct someone to the relevant page on the lfs.net/leagues system.

You could mimic sbtv calendar or the first 5-10 entries on the lfs.net/leagues listing. E.g.

Include a tab for the latest official news article and a link to the article online, and you're away.

For me, it's sad to see weekend participation hitting an all-time low. It's a lot of effort from a lot of people for us to be preparing for/streaming/stewarding and competing in races with tiny grids.

In the end, the more noise we make about events that are happening, the more likely it is we'll see attendance pick up until the next major LFS update. Stick a calendar on the landing screen, can't hurt.

EDIT:

I really like the idea above about "subscribing to events" and receiving emails to remind you. That's a good one.

Thanks for the feedback. Chris is commentary liaison, meaning he feeds the commentary team and director extra information and generally oversees the production. That information is on the team page of the website but we will make it clearer during streams from now on. Cheers!
