Quote from tristancliffe :Is that 'race driver' speak for 'I clipped them'?

Might be .

Yup it was a Formula BMW. Absolutely amazing experience, first time driving a SS and first time driving anything with downforce. The high-speed corners were the hardest to get used to, just having belief in the car and trying to disregard your natural survival instinct of "If I go round a corner this fast I will die".

The biggest difference driving it in real life compared to in the game was that in LFS you have no real feel for just how much grip there is. I suppose this is because getting a sense of speed is much harder, but in real life the thing stuck like glue. Now I know how your Dallara must feel, just with a bit more oomph!

I've had a chat and a hand shake with Frank Sytner, ex BTCC BMW works driver.

I've also raced 1/8 scale Nitro RallyX buggies again Lewis Hamilton's brother and if the batteries in the buggy hadn't gone flat I would have been racing again Lewis himself.

Quote from tristancliffe :The Rockingham chicane, at the end of the lap, is quite nice in real life (for a chicane). Although the apex tyre stacks are quite scary, as I'm sure they weigh more than my car.

They destroyed one of my wingmirrors once...

Sorry for stating the bleeding obvious, but it says at the bottom of the screen the first soundtrack is Gas - Discovery and the second is Julien Neto (or Nelo) - Farewell and the last is High Skies - Shape of things to Come, which is I guess why Vendetta posted those links...?

Saw Harry Brown the other week, thought it was absolutely brilliant. Michael Caine was superb in it.

If you haven't done any track driving before, a standard soft wobbly road car is one of the best things to learn in. The fact the car moves about so much means it amplifies any little mistakes you make and really portrays the weight distribution from corner to corner. Maybe best off leaving it as is for the time being then working up to certain modifications as you gain experience?

Great vid that GianniC, I guess Rea assumed Baz was still right up his chuff so instinctively rode defensively which allowed Baz to catch back up again after his off?

Great action!

I drive around in a bog standard Ford Focus. I took it on a track day a while back and only made a couple of modifications to it.

The first, and main one, was, like Tristan suggested, to uprate the braking system (or parts of it). We used higher temperature brake fluid and EBC GreenStuff Pads as brake fade is one of the most common problems with tracking a road car. These upgrades were enough for the brakes to last fine all day.

The only other thing we did was lighten it by taking out the rear seats.

It depends on what you mean by a "better" road car. At the end of the day everything's going to be a comprimise. If by better you mean better fuel efficiency, better handling and slightly more spritely performance then reducing weight is a good idea. Alternatively, like Tristan said lightening a car by taking out carpets / sound deadening will make it louder and less comfortable to drive.

That looks pretty rediculous, the onboard with Courtney is scary, could have been a massive shunt if the JD car didn't move over.

What I don't get is that in the article about it it says the safety car was waiting to pick up Whincup, yet when he appears behind the safety car it just sits there?

Having recently seen the effects a boring, hard, stressful job can take on someone, I'd pick fun job over money.

My case in point is my Mum, she's been working at the same company for nigh-on 30 years now. She manages accounts, sits behind the desk and working 12-hour days was not uncommon for her. About 2 months ago she started feeling really strange. She had absolutely no energy, no enthusiasm for anything and felt completely un-connected with everyone, even her closest family and friends. She was a completely different person. It got so bad she got signed off work for a month by the doctor, but she only got worse so now she's off work for 6 months and spending some time in the Priory. Thankfully, she is getting better, but it's going to take all of those 6 months, if not more, for her to recover fully. At which point she's going to quit that job and find something she loves doing.

This all came about because of the stress of work just building up over the years until it finally boiled over. She was in a state for a couple of weeks, and having seen first-hand the effect a job like hers can have on someone, I know now that my main priority is doing something I enjoy.

I'm sure you could do a compilation video like that for almost anyone on the grid to make them look good but, for me, seeing all of his overtakes from his F1 career doesn't really prove he's one of the best racers out there.

He may well be one of the best, not denying that, I just think one can read a bit too much into these types of vids...

I can only really think of a few:

Muse - Absolution

Moby - Play

Suprised no-one's thought of this yet, my favourite: Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane

I know, I either thought get it in first so if someone does have the same idea it'll look like they copied me, or wait until the end so no-one can copy but then I risk someone else coming up with something similar in the mean time. In the end I thought sod it.

Yeh he needs to get to a fuel station quick! Although 73 on the speedo is probably only about 69 real speed so nah

Right, thought I'd give this a go, inspired by Clarkson's idea of the average Audi driver. Doing the rear view mirror was the worst bit, it's made up of about 20 different layers and parts from about 6/7 different pictures and it still looks nothing like the view out of the front of the car, despite taking the best part of 2 hours. The rest of the image took about 10 minutes! Anyway...

FINAL ENTRY:

Sorry for off topic slightly Tristan, but is there a girl called Kat Impey that races in your series? I know her vaguely.
