I think the lower part of the XRT from bumper is ever so slightly different. You can see in the pics that in the first one (early patch Y), the part that is actually under the bumper, just below where it says Bilstein Dunlop, that line diagonally down is straight.

Whereas now, in Z, you can see in the second pic that that same line is more curved and slightly more pronounced.

It's a change, a very slight one, but still a change

I was 15, going to be 17 before much longer. We've had a couple of small sponsors to help ease the pain a little bit, but if we don't get any more we won't be able to run again next season. And we're running out of ideas of where to get them...

Here here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt1uGwwnsr4

That was only my second ever outing on track, back when I was 15, and the MR2 had near-as-makes-no-difference slicks on the back. And yep, that last one was full opposite lock.

Tristan, I look forward to seeing how you come up with solutions to the onboard anti-roll bar adjustments, among with other things. I assume you'll be posting progress reports when you get your new car up on your website? I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for how you do the rest of this year.

Quote from JJ72 :Nice what kind of differential are you running in the MR2?

It's got a standard diff, so not a limited slip one. It doesn't really need one with the amount of power it's got, but it will still get very sideways in the rain if you want it to

Quote from Linsen :Nice vids there. Loving your outburst in the end.

You're lucky you didn't hear the full extent of it, as I faded the footage out before it got even bluer

JJ72, the closest I've got in LFS is with the XRG. Obviously, it's front engined rather than mid, but I've played about with the setup (including limiting the BHP to 122) and have got it so it doesn't handle too differently to the MR2.

Yep, did a trackday back there a while back, and no they don't take off. It was a wet trackday, and keeping it floored over the Mountain resulted in a tiny bit of wheelspin, nothing to worry about. They really don't have enough power for any airplane style dramatics, being 122bhp. Will be interesting to see how your car goes over it, I assume you won't be going quite fast enough at that point of the track for the downforce to have much of an effect?

I'm a bit wary of the Hairpin at Cadwell, as on that same trackday I went in their a bit hot and couldn't get enough speed off, resulting in a quick trip to the tyre barriers, but nothing major. Pretty much from the Mountain until the exit of Barn is very slippery in the rain because of all the trees overhanging shedding their leaves. Although I did hear someone mention they've cut them back a bit recently?

I'm at Cadwell on September 7th which is a Sunday, so you seem to be racing on the Monday and Tuesday? I'm at Snet on the 19th too, so looks like we'll have a chance to have a bit of a chin-wag at some point!

The video camera is a Sony dcr-hc 62 handycam widescreen with a wide-angle lens adaption. (If that's not a mouthfull, what is?)

My next one's not until the 25th August unfortunately, there's quite a long break. It's at Mallory again. Hopefully, I won't do what I did last time out there again and stick it in 3rd gear waiting on the grid rather than 1st!

After that I've got Cadwell, Snet and Brands in September, October and November respectively, so maybe you'll be at one of those?

Do you always run with the Classic Sports Car Club?

Also interesting that I did work experience for a couple of weeks there last year.

Thanks for the mention Tristan, and thanks to my mate who linked me to this thread, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it. Like I said before, such a coincedence hearing your name being called by the commentator at Rockingham last weekend. We both had a very good meeting there.

Here's a link to the video of my race, if anyone's interested. It was such an interesting race that I've left it all in, so had to split it into two parts to fit it on the 'Tube:

Just tried for a bit longer and it seems to stick just below 70.

Yeh I go on some other quite demanding games quite reguarly - Race '07, GT Legends. They do get a little jerky, but I've never experienced this exact problem anywhere else other than LFS.

3DMark06, that a game or a GFX card test type of thing?

Thanks for your quick help by the way, muchus appreciatus.

Just had a look on the nVidia control panel. Whilst browsing the desktop it hovers at around 55 degrees, but after a short go in LFS it goes up to around 70. Not sure if a longer play would result in a higher temp? The slowdown threshold's set at 145 degrees.

LFS Crashes Reguarly.... (Pictures inc)

I've got a problem with LFS. I mentioned it before on here, but couldn't get it solved. Basically, it only happens when I alt+tab/shift+f4 in/out of the game a couple of times, or sometimes on startup.

What happens is I re-enter the game and the screen goes blue. Not the dreaded Windows blue screen, but an LFS special - it's got black jagged lines all over it. If I do Shift+f4, this sometimes allows me to get the game back to running normally. However, most of the time it gets me back to the game but it's as if two game images have been overlayed ontop of each other, but one to the right of the other, making it completely undrive-able and the text un-comprihendible.

Normally, however many times I press shift+f4, it doesn't get going again and ends up with me having to restart it. Alt+F4 produces a grey screen with jagged lines, and nothing can get rid of this.

I've included some pics to try and explain better. Don't flame me for them being on a cruise server, just help me fix this irratating problem.

First I get:

Then, after Shift+F4 - two images out of line:

And after Alt + F4:

Any ideas?

The thing with slowing it down 2, 3 or even 4 times is that the video I want to record is near 10 minutes long. Slowing it down will increase that by up to a figure of 4, and I'm too impatient to wait 40 mins

If I were to do it though, would speeding the whole thing up in a video editing program such as Pinnacle Studio 10 work just at well?

I've tried limiting the FRAPS to capture at around 20 FPS, but it makes no difference, neither does turning the maximum FPS in LFS down to 30.

I don't get why LFS seems to put quite so much stress on FRAPS, when other games work fine?
Minimaxman

Well, recording it without sound makes no difference, still runs at 8fps. And this is from a replay. Slowing the replay down by half also makes no change.

My PC Specs are:

nVidia GeForce 6600 GT
1 GB Ram
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Problems with FRAPS

I've searched but can't find anything similar to this.

In short, when pressing the record key on FRAPS whilst full screen with a SPR/MPR, or even in a single / online race, the FPS always drops to 8. Even if the FPS is around 70/80 before I record, it always always always drops to 8 when I hit record, whatever settings I've got FRAPS on.

I've tried it with other games and it's fine.

I can't record at 8FPS because, well, it's obvious.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The thing is though that it's not only happened as a result of alt-tabbing, it's done it when I've started it up a couple of times too. And it's only ever done it when I've alt-tabbed about twice, and I must have alt-tabbed about 3 million times in total.
Reocurring LFS Crash
Minimaxman
S3 licensed
I've been getting a reocurring crash with LFS recently. It's happened about 5 times since I got PatchY, so that's 5 times in a period of a couple of months.

What actually happens is this: If I start up LFS or alt-tab out, then re-enter, then the screen goes blank then appears with what looks a bit like TV noise, but this is with lines instead of mush. The screen goes greyey/bluey with these small lines all across it. The thing is, LFS and my computer still work fine as you can Alt+F4 out of the game, or Alt-tab in out and that will work fine. Even if you do manage to close the game, the screen is still not working, whatever you do. The only thing you can do is turn the PC off then back on again. And, before anyone says, yes my screen's plugged in properly. The fact that when you restart the PC without touching the screen cables and it works fine proves this point.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? I can't reconstruct the crash on command, it does it randomly which is quite annoying. It never did it before Y however, and I had that for well over a year.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Logitech Formula Force EX Recurring Problem...
Minimaxman
S3 licensed
Just wondering if any FFEX owners out there are in the same boat as me. Basically, the problem I have is as follows:

I use the wheel for a couple of months, when the wheel section begins to come loose and wobble about. It gets to the point where it does it so much the steering inputs are output incorrectly and it feels absolutely horrid to use. I take it apart to find the 4 main screws that screw the actual wheel into the barrel have all wobbled loose. I loctite them up and re-tighten them, only for it to come loose again a few days later. Further dis-assembly of the wheel shows that the cylinder-holes in the barrel the 4 screws go into have all cracked / broken, meaning the screws can't tighten up. The first time this happened we managed to get Logitech to send us a new replacement, but now it's happened again on the replacement wheel.

I don't think I'm particuarly ham-fisted with it, and think it's just a stupid design fault. Anyone other owners out there who have had the same problem?

It's a good wheel for the money, but there are also a couple of other problems - the paddle buttons on the back of the wheel eventually worked intermittently, and the brake pedal snaps off. This brake pedal problem has been the same design as the pedals on the old FF GP I used to own. I would have thought, the EX being the new version, they would have fixed it. Obviously not.

Any input would be great.

Merry Christmas!

It works well for me, thanks very much. One thing that perhaps needs to be made clear for those not as clued up as the rest (*cough*ME*cough*) is that when the old skins folder is renamed and placed in the new colours folder, the user still needs to copy the old skins into the new skins folder aswell.

Maybe it's just me being completely stupid

Yeh, it's a couple of years old. Did a bit of digging and found the CC forum where it's been mentioned. See here: http://www.racecar.net/castlec ... m/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2293

Like someone earlier said, obviously someone browing the net stumbled upon it and started circulating it again.

Still, I signed it. Driven it in real life many times and it's one of the best circuit's I've been on, not forgetting it's the second oldest in the country. Agree with what everyone's said - if you don't like the noice of race cars, DON'T MOVE NEAR A RACE TRACK!!!
