That was fantastic, I could watch him all day. What a legend.

I've always fancied a go at hillclimbing but like Tristan said I think after a while I'd get the urge to be racing bumper-to-bumper with 29 other cars again.

With regards to track time, the best we've had in the MR2s was a weekend at Pembrey. For the entry fee of £300 we got 1x20min practice, 1x20min qualifying and 3x20min races which was an awful lot of driving for the money.

Quote from Jordan2007 :Because that means a lot IMO..... I Play this game to have a laugh and to chat to some old friends.

So you seem to think everyone In Real life are fast on lfs.. True statement there mate lmao.

As far as I have seen it is a true statement. The quickest guys in LFS that race in real life all do bloody well at it; Rudy, NickC, Duck, Norbi to name but a few, and now Vale. And I think that goes to show just how good a simulator is - anyone can set fast times on NFS or similar but on LFS it takes talent.

'Scuse the ignorance, don't really know all that much about Aussie touring cars, but is there a chance that you'll get picked up from the Commodore Cup by one of the Supercar teams? Has it happened before? Would be awesome

The 1.6 was 110bhp? Our 2.0 is only 125bhp, and then they managed to squeeze a 1.8 in between the two!

Went to see Avatar yesterday, but it was full.

So watched Sherlock Holmes instead which I thought was pretty good, and Robert Downey Jnr played the wacky Sherlock brilliantly I thought.

The date is fine with me but I wasn't really expecting it to be £50 each. I'll have a think.

I think the 1.8 Zetec is a good comprimise. I drive my Mum's 2.0 zetec Focus and whilst it's goes very well, it's not very economical. The last couple of tank's we've made a point of driving as economically as possible and have struggled to get anything above about 34mpg. If we did all motorway it would be better but for mostly short runs around town this is pretty poor.

They do handle decently though and the steering is very communicative.

The BMW tiptronic gearboxes have been the 'wrong way round' for quite a while. They are autos with a sequential lever, to change up you push forwards, to change down you pull back. Some people managed to re-work the wiring to get it the other, more natural way round.

The only way I'd say it's similar to real life racing is with regards to racecraft. Having a good close battle with someone around a LFS track can just about be the same as doing it in real life; you can use similar moves and tactics to try and get past.

Granted, though, in real life the dents don't dissapear as soon as you enter your garage, unfortunately.

Quote from trebor901 :nope there will be a minimum length which will ensure hatchbacks are not able to compete so back to proper touring cars.

But if things haven't changed since I last looked, the rules also state FWD only, and I wouldn't class a touring car race as being proper without some RWD cars in the mix. Like the Beemers we've had for years, or before that the Sierras. Those to me were proper touring cars. Will be a shame to see RWD gone.

I always assumed that Doglegs were only used on sports cars / road going versions of race cars (190e Cosworth, E30 M3) as when driving 'spiritedly' (on road or track) you're likely to need to change between 2nd and 3rd more often than 3rd and 4th, and this will be easier as 2nd and 3rd are directly above and below each other...

...if you get me.

There's nothing wrong with liking the Lotus Carlton or E21 Beemers above.
