Thanks for the comments, but I must say the venture is no longer providing services to new clients.
Clients of RaceSIM have been previously contacted and a general announcement was forthcoming when we can confim closure. The server control panel is still online, but will become offline within the next few days as contracts expire. The actual servers will be down by the 22nd of October.
Thanks to all for your support throughout this venture.
SSL certification has been installed and is now operational as expected. The installation of this did cause a small outage in the billing system while everything was correctly configured, but everything is now back online as expected, and your security is protected.
Thanks for the comments and concern shown. SSL certification is being sorted as we speak, but that was for me impossible without an internet connection for the last four days.
The offending padlock is actually just what is included default with the billing system RaceSIM Servers chose to use. There was no attempt to include something which we didnt have or no attempt to do anything negative to the LFS Community.
The same standard offending line can be seen on the billing systems of many other organisations also without SSL cirtifcation.
Regardless, RaceSIM clients should not that this situation is now in the process of being resolved, and if there are any concerns, then they should be communicated to RaceSIM via the appropriate channels.
I am now back online, and hope to catch up with your tickets shortly. Thanks for your patience.
Its not a terrible Idea, but it has been tried before. To do it, it would require a lot of work and commitment from whoever ran it, it would not be something to lightly step into.
5 hours of administration work a day.. sorry, but.. doing what? - My team know I do a lot for them, but its more like 5 minutes a day these days. The team runs itself.
On the other hand, if the members of the team flat refuse to do anything to help, then closure is probably the best thing to do. If my team mates flat refused to help, It'd make me not arsed to try too.
Just to correct.. It HAS been thought about and several applications HAVE been made, however, personally, the single time I used either of them, I've failed to see them work as expected. - Thats probably more my own user error than any of the programming, as I know the quality of the work these clever guys put into these applications.
However, to answer quite simply.. It is my personal preference NOT to use such applications to sort the grid. I prefer a manual method, and if such a way takes longer than others, so be it. I will feel more confident sorting grids manually, always have, most cirtainly always will.

This was the 2nd ITCC race where I was asked at short notice to stand in as Race Director for ICON Darren whom again failed to make it. I did my best, this time learning from my own mistakes at round 2, and frankly, most of it went simmingly, which is far more than can be said for the shameful driving of some drivers this evening. Most drivers kept thier cool and got on with thier races, but some lost thier dummy and threw it at those around them.
I'd like you to note for a moment that I am only human, I will and do make mistakes, I am not a robot, and basically, when I ask for "NO CHAT" I really do expect there to be no answer to that. I may have working processes that you disagree with, like for example ending the session to start a new one, to reform the grid, or to change other settings as instructed or suggested by the race control team.
I quite honestly didnt think of doing it that way.. If I should be called on again to run these sessions, then that way would cirtainly be easier for me, with all the usernames in the same colour, its hard for (my) eyes to find everyone quickly, as those in my race control team will atest to.
Exactly, I dont understand the problem with this.. Pickard, whom has always made himself known as a childish cock to me, once again shows his worth, representing his team, to both the other drivers on track, and the 60+ audience watching over the broadcast.
Overtaking under safety car periods IS dumb. The fact that you personally find such a rule dumb is of no consequence, a rule is a rule is a rule, which is a point which many many drivers who enter leagues fail to realise. You dont have to like the rules, just respect them. It's not your job to even question them, expecially within a race server, where your sole job - through choosing to be there - is to drive your car with respect to yourself and others on the track, following whichever dumb rules you agreed to follow by simply entering the series.
Has anyone tested this before posting? If its just an idea, sorry, but its a little silly as it will inspire posts like #10, then you start being held to ransom etc.
Do some testing, research etc, then come back with a working concept before introducing it to drivers.
The admins of the series filled me in fine dwb. Race Control was talking during the races, I had guidance for every decision made during the races. Apart from the first Safety Car, no other driver stayed on the track long enough for a safety car to be scrambled. Guidance told me that Safety Car's were for cars on thier roof/side/beached etc.
If drivers are supposted to wait and/or signal, none was forthcoming. Not following the first Safety Car. If drivers dont wait, there is no reason to scramble the safety car, and disrupt the racing further.
As for the speed in which I reorganised the grid.. Firstly sourcing the replay/list of qualifying times took half the time. Then drivers thought the'd help by adding themselves where they remembered, which confused me more. In the end I was left with was a list of licence names rather than numbers followed by names, and it was a case of flicking between LFS and other software to make sure people were in the correct order.
31 licence names to usernames later, we got it sorted out. Then of course I had to check it again to make sure there wasnt another cockup.
Dont take this as an excuse, I made a mistake, I know I did, but I found out the problem, took action to correct it, and you had your racing. After reading some of the comments, I thought I'd post to try and shed some light on what happened, and what was being done to sort it out.
Agreed, thats a preference.
Hopefully, you guys shouldnt have to put up with me again
