Worn pots are definitely out. I'm using different pedals now.
If it were a matter of power, connecting high power devices should cause problems, right? Doing so does not cause my wheel to recalibrate, nor does sucking up a bunch of bandwidth while I'm using it.
What OS are you guys running? I'm curious if this is a Windows 7 thing.
As far as I can tell, there hasn't been response from Logitech regarding this issue.
I imagine that graphics will be addressed after the physics patch is complete. Releasing new content now wouldn't be fair to Eric.
Anyway, Scawen has said that he doesn't want to do status updates because he doesn't have anything new to report. Look at what happens when he does one anyway! Can you guys really blame him for avoiding these "updates"?
At least get more creative about your complaining! How about a song, or a fancy image macro? Perhaps a video showcasing how you've perfected every combo?
However you shake it, 2012 is going to be a good year for sim-racing fans
That reminds me, my G27 pedals are doing weird things. The clutch noise is now making it past whatever signal processing Logitech uses to make the pedals last.
My throttle has noticeably less resolution than it used to, and sometimes doesn't go wide open.
If the average sim-racer can afford a G27, they should be able to save for something nicer. I'm curious what time will tell about the Thrustmaster. I had even been thinking about a Frex, but I see that they are now $2500. OT: Isn't that a bit steep for something that doesn't even come with its own electronics, cooling, mounting, pedals, shifter, buttons, or steering wheel?
Driving Force - Stopped functioning after a couple of years.
Driving Force Pro - Potentiometers failed after a year. Kept replacing them until I got a G25.
G25 - Blew a MOSFET from being left on the floor
G27 - Now is easily as loud as my G25 was. More and more lash in the gears over time means louder and louder thuds/pops when going over bumps etc. Optical encoder failed last month. Started making a new noise this month. Has been randomly re-calibrating itself for three or four months.
The re-calibration thing is a race-ender. Unless you are fortunate enough to be at the beginning of a straight with a perfect heading, you won't even have enough time to switch to mouse before you need to spectate.
The new noise seems related to thermal expansion. I guess when they said to take breaks at a certain interval they really meant it.
With the exception of the Driving Force, the problems I've had are quite common.
For G25 owners considering a G27 purchase: Buy something else.
I'm saving for a higher quality wheel.
TLDR: Logitech cuts corners to keep the price down.
The engine was running. I was under the impression that the new version of MatCatX' program no longer used outgauge.
I tested a newly installed LFS, so the configuration hasn't been modified, other than enabling my wheel.
OutSim Mode 0 OutSim Delay 1 OutSim IP 127.0.0.1 OutSim Port 0 OutSim ID 0 OutGauge Mode 0 OutGauge Delay 1 OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1 OutGauge Port 0 OutGauge ID 0
I haven't heard of the center floating to the right. It usually goes to the left.
This issue is pretty common, and is usually caused by one of three things:
The optical encoder module screws coming out due to thermal expansion and contraction. Fixed by putting thread locker or glue on the screws and screwing them back in.
The optical encoder becoming less effective. This can be fixed by simply pinching the light sensor and LED closer together.
A crack forming in the pulse wheel (black slotted disc). It's possible to glue it back together, but the task requires extreme precision.
I've seen tutorials for the first two. Just gotta google.
Anyone that has spent any amount of time reading these retarded threads should know that Dandy loves posting retarded shit in these retarded threads.
When I say retarded, I mean retarded like Eric's progress on the S3 content mentioned in that post on lfs.net from Thu, Dec 24th, 2010 14:00 or maybe retarded like the physics patch development mentioned on Fri, Aug 21st, 2009 20:30 six months after a postponement.
To reiterate and summarize: These threads are retarded.
The demo isn't really similar to LFS at all.
These dudes aren't selling a game, they're selling a library. Complaining about the graphics is like complaining about the makeup a porn actress is wearing.
That said, I tried the demo, and the feedback on my wheel was inverted.
Playing with the keyboard, I got the impression that the physics model and control filters/automatic steering are very good (read "fun").
If I were developing a game with driving in it, I'd definitely hit these guys up to see how their licensing works.
None of the wires are broken, and all of the connectors are snug. Has anyone had this problem with XP?
I'm curious if this is a 7 problem. I always have to unplug and plug my wheel in when my machine comes back from standby...
Maybe this is some kind of USB sleep thing?
Just to make sure what I'm saying is understood:
Asking about development is not going to yield any new information.
I'm sorry if you find my generalizations disagreeable, but the fact of the matter is that they are valid. Most people complain or beg. Many people create reasons for Scawen to post ("LFS is dying. I'm losing interest. Other sims are in development" etc) which is akin to begging. The remainder are either indifferent, or are sycophantic.
Everything worth saying on this topic has been said. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I imagine that threads like this one are allowed to exist in an attempt to keep the aforementioned types of shit posting in one place.
1. It's all been said. Asking is clearly a fruitless endeavor.
2. I think you misread my post. I didn't say that people would ask years later, I said they would ask for years. Historically, people start asking within days of an update.
3. This forum does not exist so that users have a place to beg and complain. There are plenty of discussions about things other than LFS development on this forum.
You guys seem to have forgotten what happens when Scawen posts about the state of LFS development.
Many people seem to interpret Scawen's posts as an invitation to beg for more information and complain when they don't get it. People complain about content, and they don't get new content. Usually posts in this type of thread get nasty.
Despite the devs addressing this behavior, people insist on continuing in the same fashion.
Scawen mentioned that Eric has been working on new S3 content.
Wanna see it?
Just think about what happened for years after the Scirocco announcement. Don't fool yourselves into thinking that wouldn't happen again now.
We know LFS is in active development. Don't worry about it.

You don't have anything to be sorry for, or was that sarcasm?
I was just being informative, guy. Informing you that people are reading your posts, but sometimes are not understanding what you mean.
I understood what you meant.
They asked for you to post. Of course they read it. They just didn't understand what you meant, because you weren't explicit enough.
Allow me to demonstrate one interpretation:
"A possible schedule change..."
The schedule on the first post is still accurate.
"As for the rescheduled Event #1, dates are to be announced"
Event #1 is going to be split up into multiple events that will occur at times which have not yet been disclosed.
When someone clearly doesn't understand what you meant, don't assume that they didn't try; think about why they didn't understand.
The numbers and names didn't add any legitimacy to the event, imo.
It would be good if people knew the order of the runs so that they didn't have to ask about when their turn is.
A TGS server with appropriate bandwidth cap (about 420kbits/second) should be able to handle 47 slots without a problem. I heard it was capped at 256.
The disconnections were bad advertising for TGS.
You might want to come up with a script for promos if you stick with doing vent etc. Likewise, promotional binds that you do regularly would be good.
I think that recording the event and editing it down basic event coverage/highlights would be a lot more successful as a promotional tool than broadcasting.
Thank you for investing your time and energy in this series, I really do appreciate it. I look forward to seeing what is in store
