I've got a G25 and find catching slides MUCH easier now i'm used to it. I recently tried using a standard wheel and could not drive in a straight line let alone catch slides due to the limited rotation.

For those of us in the mid thirties, we would have probably been a bit older as there were fewer computer games!!

My first memory is Chequered Flag on the Spectrum! So you do the maths. Blasting around Brands Hatch in an open wheeler. The only problem was glass on the track (eh?)

Although just thinking about it, there was a game on the ZX80 which had a top down view of a car and you had to move it left and right through the course. Eventually the track got so small and went so fast you couldnt get through it.

Strewth thats light years ago!!

Quote from Bob Smith :I'm running a G25 noobs server if everyone wants to get together.

.... some hours pass ....

Well, one person joined, and I got bored. Server PC is noisy.

Anyway, I'm finding my legs really ache, the pedals are much more upright than the momo pedals. And after two years of left foot braking everything is going wrong in the legs department. Oh joy. Fun though, be nice when it actually all comes together. I can nearly manage the TBOs atm, GTRs are a bit too frantic. Dipping the clutch doesn't seem to help me perform emergence stops either. Silly legs.

Bob

The crazy thing for me now is that my right foot is getting better at braking and my left foot is pathetic...FFS!!

Quote from Paul_McCluskey :its fun at the start of a race and your hurtling down into turn 1 and you start braking and wonder why your not slowing down, doh, foots still on the clutch, ahhh watch out im coming through

The really stupid thing now is that my left foot has become a big girl when it comes to left foot braking in the mrt, fox, f08 or bf1.
ooooo the brake pedal is toooo stiff. PAH!!!illepall

Quote from Flycantbird :I've read on the nkpro forum that the people complaining are just ' guys coming over from other forums like LFS and rFactor, wanting to raise ****'

I guess that noone playing nkpro should have had any interest in, or played on, any other particular sim ? ( well, that would explain some things, but...)

It's irrelevant, in the end. The big thing that's changed after the 'patch' is that the die hard fans are more conviced than ever that life is great, and the people who were mildly to outrageously angry over the first release are now extremely to insanly angry over the results after waiting six months.

I'm curious as to how long it takes windows to recognize and display the
' there are unused icons on your desktop, would you like to delete them ?'

The clock is running.

That post made me laugh!!Big grin

I must admit, I was concerned something was missing when I fist saw the box!!! Perhaps the pedals came seperately.

Quote from sshhaabb :Need some help using the profiler did not use it with dfp the force feedback is set at 100% in the game controllers and at 150% in LFS it seems less of a force feedback in the DFP it was at 100% in game controller settings and at 40% in LFS and was enough for me.

Never use dprofiler with DFP.

Will appreciate the best possible settings for G25.

I'm not using the profiler at all!
At 100% the FF in LFS does seem weaker than the DFP but i'm still getting used to driving with the G25 ATM

Well having spent a couple of hours "driving around", things are definately on the up!! My left foot apparently wants to use the clutch, and the right foot is happy to brake and accelerate!!!

Quote from Scawen :OK, I've done that now. Vroom on the test patch thread also wants a function to select auto shift in certain cars and manual in others.

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=181947#post181947

The command "shifter" will be in U29.

/shifter=auto/sequential/shifter

Examples :

/shifter=shifter <- use shifter for all cars that have a H-pattern shifter
/shifter=sequential <- use sequential gear shift input in all cases
/shifter=auto <- automatic gears (and sequential for reverse, etc)

Scawen, you are a star. Thank you very much!!!

Quote from spankmeyer :How 'bout if you install the latest U28 patch into a separate folder, scrap the control settings and do a fresh config? Maybe your copypasta failed big time.

Yeah, its looking that way, it certainly seems odd that some cars work and others don't. Perhaps i'll try that tonight.

That would be the logical answer, but i'm buggered if I can see it, as i've copied the exact script across and changed the button settings to suit the G25

Quote from Gunn :The shifter gets easier as you practice as does heel-toe. If you are struggling with the shifter and missing gears a lot take heart that it will improve as you become more familiar with the shifter. Sequential mode works very well too (and is quiet), a lot of fun in the FZR.

Gunn

I've posted my problem else where, but have just come across your post by mistake.

How are you getting the sequential shifter to work on the FZR. I have changed my script from road to sequential, but for some reason, the GTR cars are not responding to the sequential change. The daft thing is the FOX and MRT are by default set to sequential and work fine?

My sequential script is simply:

button 8 shift_down
button 9 shift_up

Any help greatly appreciated

Quote from tristancliffe :Mines arrived. And, despite using my home address as it was my first order with Gameseek, the clever postman (who knows me) meant it was waiting on my chair at work at 9am. Hurrah.

Unpacked it already (even though my desk is now full of G25 bits), and in some ways it's great (the wheel feels nice, quite like the paddles, the shifter unit is good, and the pedals are lovely. But everything feels a bit plasticky.

Full report later

If there was one thing that bothers me slightly, its the click noise when changing gear, very loud. Hoping it wont disturb the wife to much whilst she is watching CSI!!

EDIT: Watch your fingers on the ends of the paddles, mine are quite sharp/rough in places.

Not sure if this is a bug or a script problem, but here goes....

Just got a G25 wheel and spent last night rescripting to suit road, paddle and sequential gear changes.

The road cars work fine (road script), so do the F08 and BF1 (paddle script)

However, with my DFP, I had the GTR cars set to sequential (the default is road) and wrote my scripts to suit (everything worked fine).
So now I am using my existing sequential scripts, modified for correct buttons, with the GTR cars on G25.

The problem now is that the GTR's do not change gear at all using the sequential script and sequential gear change mode. If I change to road script and shifter mode they are fine.
BUT the FOX and MRT default to sequential script and work perfectly!!

Surely any car will drive with any script, providing you have the correct buttons assigned?

Or am I missing something here?

Thanks for any assistance

Considering I drive a manual car every day, I can not believe how alien it was to use the G25 at first. I'd go into a corner, but instead of braking, i'm dipping the clutch... AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Stupid left foot, just sit there till I want to change gear. As for right foot, move your lazy ASS onto the brake instead of milling about on the throttle!!!! FFS How hard can it be.

Seriously though, the immersion factor has now shot up!!!

I can't wait for Scawen to code in engine, clutch and gearbox failures.
ATM there would be a constant flow of cogs and engine internals in my wake.

Seriously tho' its better than I thought, well worth the wait.

I'm getting better already but no where near as fast as before

if i Track my order it just says the same old thing Status New order.
it say nothing about shipping.
if they have cocked the order up the shit will hit the fan after waiting this long. :chairs:

That sounds a bit of a worry. My order status has been updated to Shipped Order Closed.

Quote from Jakg :Why do americans like soft suspension? Because they go a LONG way in a dead-straight line over rubbish roads - soft suspension helps, especially when there aren't that many corners!

True for the majority of the USA. However, there are some roads over there which for us bikers would be a dream to blast along!! Especially in the Tenessee state (IIRC) there are some lovely twisty roads. But yes its a pity most of the cars are setup badly for this type of road.
