Whincup was a let down, even in the V8

CPU cores and the GPU are nowhere near 100%, FPS in the 100s and happens occasionally. Very inconveniently in corners or close to other cars. Whatever can be done to minimise or eliminate this is a good thing.

It would be lovely if there was a third option to download / apply skins while not in an active session or while not moving.

It's completely harmless, and won't affect anything in any negative way. You can run it from the Start Menu's Run... feature, or from a command prompt.

I've been having issues connecting to the master and other servers that use the master. Running ipconfig /flushdns allows me to connect, until it happens again. If you're using a software firewall, you should check that LFS is allowed to pass it. Sometimes an updated .exe might require adding the exception again.

Why would you assume every drift is done at the maximum steering lock? Neither 240 nor 270 are 180, or 90.

I had one of these, and wasn't impressed.
- The stick is made badly, the plastic parts holding it in place inside the case are flimsy. Fortunately, if they break, you can open the case and use the ones from the other side.
- The pedals are too soft, and the potentiometers will become inaccurate. The latter can be worked around with DXTweak2, the former with a tennis/squash ball or something if you like modding. Otherwise, they lack any feel at all.
- The wheel's motion is very slow when force feedback is enabled. So slow, that counter-steering is a frustrating affair.
- It has "proper" feedback, not vibration.

It's a cheapo wheel, expect cheapo performance. It's usable, but if you can get a a DFGT or something better, do so.

It's just an illusion.

- AI isn't great with any car at any track at the moment. If I recall right, there are plans to improve on this in the future (think years). If you're racing the AI in S2, you're doing it wrong.

- You'd need to be more specific, but the answer is probably yes. If find yourself spending a lot of time admiring the scenery, find a busier server. Some other track environments, South City especially, are more bumpy and feel less clinical.
- Check out the unofficial mods section. There are official car texture updates to come, track ones haven't been mentioned but I would guess eventually (think many years).
- No varying grip, but it's an essential so again, perhaps eventually.

Well, Irssi/PuTTY for Windows has both colours and a static input line that isn't written over. I don't know what that means, but maybe it's possible since apart from the PuTTY configuration window, it runs in a console window.

Go to http://www.lfs.net/ and login. Check that you have set a GAMEpassword, and then unlock the client with that password. If that doesn't work, wait a little while, say 20 minutes. Which comments have not been frank and honest? It's known why the delay happened, because Scawen explained it. It's known why content isn't released, because Scawen explained it. It's known why there aren't progress reports, because Scawen explained it. While disagreeing with the LFS philosophy is perfectly alright and valid, labeling it as not 'frank' or 'honest' because of a disagreement in viewpoint is downright self-centred.

Stop worrying about updates, stop expecting updates. Go do something else, and one day in the distant future you might (or might not) find an LFS newsletter in your mailbox. Simples.

Concern yourself with such trivial issues once you've got your lap times close to the fast folk. Top drivers do top times even with an H-shifter. Drive the way you want to, and consider that sort of thing when you're in a competitive league, where even the tiniest edge counts for something.

There's nothing to swallow. It was unfortunate (and fortunate) that the VWS/ROC delay happened, but I don't feel let down, cheated, mislead or lied to. Does this mean can't be part of the community because I don't fit in to some pointless generalisation?

Hold ctrl in the layout list screen, and select the Autocross X track.

- So I was driving around on Cargame.nl S1 just now, and I started to lag.
- Eventually I timed out, "Lost connection to host".
- Then LFS became unresponsive, with a black screen and the "Lost connection to host" message.
- Shift-F4 didn't work, Windows and ctrl-esc buttons didn't work, escape did nothing.
- Ctrl-alt-del worked. I opened Task Manager, and clicked LFS in the Applications tab.
- I got the message "LOCAL: TIMER BOUNDED".
- LFS went to the Multiplayer screen and started to operate normally.

While timing out is normal, LFS locking up like this isn't. Hopefully this is something that can be eliminated?
