I would say im part of the curious crowd.

So far so good, not had a crash or blue screen as yet Not even hung once, so not to bad so far.

Games wise i dont know, haven'd had much time yet.

The thing is with anything (OS, DX, hardware drivers etc) you have to have the latest one to make something better, or somehting like that.

For example, their are many games out there today that say you NEED Windows XP. Games need the latest Direct X and graphic card drivers etc.

Note: I am in no way saying the latest is the best, just meerly stating what most companys and shit say.

Has anyone used / using it? I downloaded the 64bit version last night and burning it off to DVD as i write this post but i dno if i should install it.

Formatting my HDD and installing an OS aint a problem for me, done it countless times but is the Beta worth it? My mate all the games he tried, worked on his. BF2, HL2, LFS, C&C etc and quite a few programs. Also what worries me is that becuase is new, your bound to get some dick trying to hack into it and i dont really feel like being that candidate.

So yeh, to install or not to install, that is the question. Also if you are using it, what protection you got like anti-virus, spyware, firewall etc. Apparently AVG (free or full, cant remember which) dont work on Vista.

Cheers, Dave

A game lasts as long as their are people who love playing it.

Look at MOHAA and Counter Strike 1.6? Quite old games now and get more servers running and players online than most new games like BF2 and CS:S

Ahhhh leaving school. God that was the best day of my life.

Job search? Pffft, sat on me arse all day, slept in late, went bed late, all just to catch up on what i missed while at school.

Then college started and i haven't slept properly since.

EDIT:
Quote from Becky Rose :I believe he's saying his big lifes dream is to get a girlfriend that costs £30 a week.

LMAO, im in trouble with my lecturer now for disrupting his lesson. *should of held mouth when laughing*

Quote from AndroidXP :These barriers you saw are more or less only enforcing the normal pit in/out rules that should be followed anyway (nobody does when not forced, though).

Most likely yes but if something like that was made a standard, IE, built that way in an update of LFS wouldn't this kill two birds with one stone?

I always thought the LFS cars were made up! (except the ones based on real cars. BMW for example) illepall

I've always wanted a nice rx7, new or old, still sexy :P But unfortunatly, an 18 year old + living in north london = Very high insurance for any car, let alone one of them

Last night i was on an oval server, Ovel Junkies or something like that. And from the pit lane, around T1 to the straight was blocked off from the track, so this stoped anyone cutting down to the flat and people charging out the pits. Then the block started again just before the final corner comming up to the pit entrance. Made it a little more fun imo.

But also dont you lose speed on the flat / grass area? yes your taking a shorter route but you would be slower because the car leaning / no traction on the grass.

Roughly £30k a year. Just like a normal job really but with much more happy end users.

Although these are rough figures. Say their is a min of 15000 S1 and S2 licences sold, why have i never seen the "Racers Online" on the main LFS site ever go above 1000?
LFS Machinima?

I think i spelt the topic right, but in anycase. I've seen an increasing amount of these about recently. Some in obvious games, some in more far-fetched onces and was thinking if a LFS one would be possible? Just running through ideas at the mo for a LFS movie project over my summer holiday. I had the idea of playing on some steriotypes. I've seen people on the forum say oval racers / servers have grumpy, easily pissed of people and the demo is half crashers. Another steriotype in a sence.

I was thinking of putting it in a documentry sort of perspective (bit like the BF2 machinima in Off Topic part of the forum)

But yeh, just basicly asking for opinions from people. If you think its a good idea, say so and add ideas, i dont mind :P If you think its a shit idea and i should make a standard racing / drifting / dragging movie then say also.

Just wanted to make something different

Dave.

Just thought i'd drop in after playing on S2.

OMG its amazing. Any demo racer should buy this ASAP, you wont regret it!

I've been on a few servers in about a max of an hour, just trying out some of the tracks and cars on offer and im in love with the BF1 :P

I also clocked 80+ miles already!

I shit myself half the time because i go off every so often because all the handeling of the new cars are so different to the demos. Even the XFG GTR, i thought it would handle like the XFG but if you open the throttle on a bend it wants to go straight! Great thing, and learnt alot in an hour Every blue flag i would pull over and let others past. Just so imtimidating that someone who can handle the same car is flying up your rear and taking corners faster.

If you love the XRT, you would love the XRR. I kinda used the BF1 a bit more but driving the XRR is just so nice. Smooth cornering, power and braking, ahh the feeling.

I set-up my half working wheel and pedals up and it brings a whole new meaning to racing in the BF1. Other cars arent so great (on MY wheel because it has such a shitty lock) but the BF1 is almost the same and can really attack the corners. The speed of the thing is just silly.

I tried the Formula V8 offline and i dont think i will be racing it sometime soon, atleast not online till i get a bit more skill but pulling away is either a giant wheel spin and dougnuts or a slow start and the AI sod off into the distance. So glad the BF1 has traction control.

In anycase, just mainly a note to Demo racers that you HAVE to buy S2. After playing it on and off for a year+ (demo) im glad i got S2.

David.

I'm doing Visual Programming at college and trust me, its not as easy as you seem to think.

I'm only using Visual Basics 6 at the moment but i have looked at C++ yet but i've been told its basicly the same but worded different etc etc.

You might need extensive knowledge to make anything at least move in a 3D environment via inputs from KB, Mouse etc.

Have fun, maybe get a "Games Programming for Dummies book" or some sort of learning book on C++.

PS: You will also need to know how to make 3D models and most likely to scale.

Hehe, i got the licence :P but no wheel

Yes, the XBCD is the latest one. Right at the top of the page.

No, the wheel dont have FF which is a bit of a bastard but it is a few years old now so... and the nearest person i know who has an xbox wheel lives in New Hampshire, USA so its a bit far for me to pop round for a coffeé and ask to borrow it for a few hours.

The normal controler works fine. If the stick is half way to the left, its calibrates half way, full way etc etc.

As for wiring, you have the connector, then some black bit, then the bit that connects to the controllers wire. The wireing has be done obviously after the connector and between the blackbit. Im at college atm so i'll get a piccy up when i get home.

Also, the wheels brand is gamester or something allong them lines.

I've always welcomed help / comments into my driving just like i do in my coursework / photoshop work and i always listen to someone who is more skilled than myself. For instance if i saw you in a server and you said "oh, you could do blah blah blah at T2 and you'll knock off X seconds from your time." I would except that and try it out.

Got my licence today (yeay, post was bloody fast for once ) unlock later and go for a spin :P

...I've sent me money for S2 earlier today so i should have the licence tommorow or wednesday.

1st things first, is their any S2 servers that would welcome a n00b? Well, not exactly noob but i'm gonna try new cars and tracks so i dont think my driving will be too good.

2nd thing, any good car/track combos that i could possibly learn on? Or whats the best car for an S2 noob to start with?

Looking forward to racing you guys.

Cheers, David.
