Quote from Pablo Donoso :you should get a Renault "Le Car", then hook it up with nitrous, and throw some dubs on that bish!!!!

lmfao0o0ooo!!!! joking but that would be hilarious!!!! xD

for a first car, best one to buy is a cheap one to learn to drive on thats also easy to fix, and gets good mileage. Trust me, first cars always take a beating, if you buy a brand new car and something happens, it will upset you a lot more then if it was a bucket. (bucket, beater, hoopty = cheap car) Also, insurance rates are waaaaaay higher for new drivers in a brand new car, sometimes 2 to 3 times the cost then a new driver in a used car.

Once you get more seat time / experience behind the wheel, you'll have more money saved and by then most likely you'll know exactly what car you want to buy.

And how am I suppose to afford a new car anyway? My first car will be a second hand car, most likely built before 2000.

So is there one resolution I should stick to when making a website? It's only going to be a personal website but I want it to fit right on various resolutions.

I was thinking of learning how to make a flash website as you can get away with making small flash websites but they just seem to look tacky.
Dreamweaver/Photoshop website creation

I am wanting to create a website that will fit on any resolution monitor and not fixed to a certain resolution, so in Dreamweaver it's a liquid template and not a fixed template. My problem is though, is that I want to create my site graphics/design in Photoshop but you can only make these on a fixed resolution.

What I would like to know is, what the best way to create a website that uses a template made in Photoshop and then imported into Dreamweaver to create a site that will automatically resize to the users screen resolution when the website in loaded up in a browser?

If anyone doesn't catch what I mean, I will try to explain in more detail, I am a little tired at the moment so may not be that understandable lol.

Quote from Jakg :The keyboard is one of the things I love, and the onscreen keyboard feels... odd to use with a phone thats thicker than the iPhone.

The only downside to the onscreen keyboard for me is that I have to rotate the phone so the keyboard becomes bigger so I don't hit the wrong letter/number all the time lol.

Still doesn't make me dislike the phone, Android is very good in my opinion. Thats where Apple failed with the iPhone, they didn't make it open source.

Quote from Jakg :In case no-one got the message...

I LOVE THE G1 (/ HTC Dream).

I hate the fact I have to give it back on Saturday and go nearly 6 weeks before I can buy mine

Get the G2 (HTC Magic) instead lol. I have it and it's brilliant, a little smaller than the G1 and a little more smooth on the curves - just doesn't have the qwerty keyboard.

I've got the HTC Magic, basically the Google G2 phone, same as the G1 apart from the Qwerty keyboard, had it for just over a month now and I'm extremely impressed with it.

Hmm, I was curious to see how much it would be if one of my parents took a policy out on a car and put me down as a main driver - I done 3 quotes.

Quote 1: BMW 316i E36
TPFT - £1,271.37
FC - £1,474.90

Quote 2: Honda Civic 1.4i (96-98)
TPFT - £1,246.52
FC - £1,446.02

Quote 3: Vauxhall Corsa B 1.2 16v
TPFT - £1,012.94
FC - £1,175.00

I think it may be worth asking one of my parents to see if they would take a policy out for me and I will obviously pay it.

Quote from Bawbag :If you want something that's going to have a bit of go about it then it's gunna be a 1.2sxi corsa, or a 1.4i VSX saxo. Both doing 0-60 in around 11 seconds.

The saxo is group 5, the corsa group 3, but if you want the cheapest to insure then your better getting a 1.0 12v corsa, it's a group 1, 0-60 in 16 seconds. My first car was a 1.2 corsa trip, 0-60 in 16.8 seconds and that felt nippy enough, had it on some long journeys and it overtook cars ok, was easier with a run up though.

I was thinking of looking at a Corsa, will have to get the Corsa B though.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :1L Yaris does 0-60 in a touch over 13s. Not sure what class it's in insurance-wise, but it was €600 a year for me to insure, at 17 Get the 3 door VVTi if you're getting one, they're pretty much the quickest and most reliable 1L around

Rob, I am looking to spend about £600 to £1,000 on a car, not £3k lol. Also for it to be only 600 a year, are you on your parents insurance?

Anyone know of any nippy 1 litres? The reason why I want a nippy car is that going through country lanes+deliverying means you want speed to get the food to the customer as quick as possible but I may also be delivery round town also.

Any ideas of what is nippy but pretty cheap for a 17yr old to insure?

Quote from Foilpact :Lol, i cant believe u's are still busting ma balls over something that happened 4 years ago....

Anyways, Where are you getting ur quotes and how old are u? On 3 different sites i looked at for a 1.9tdi A3 after just passing test @ 17 is about £3800 FC... 4k ffs

An Astra SXI 1.8 16v with all extras is £3100....

Insurance is going to be mental high whatever u get for ur first car...,, Why not spend just a little more and get something Sporty and fun?...

Because you're doing quotes for policy's that are FC and not TPFT.

I think I am going to go down the Corsa/Civic/Saxo route, I want something cheap now lol. Can't be assed with spending like £2k on insurance, stupid for a first car really, will wait until I am 19/20 and get a BMW E30 or something similar.

Sean, sell the Astra and buy the Astra 2.0 Turbo instead, you will love the fuel in that even more lol, I've heard they get about 20mpg going around town lol.

The CDTI engines are good though, the one in our 1.3 Corsa Van is good on fuel and is nippy, that has the ecotec engine. So might be worth thinking about getting it.

Quote from Bawbag :Well, if you find a rover which has a replaced head gasket then your in luck tbh, it's performance pisses over the 316 anyway..

I'm close to taking a green 214 16v, only because moneys so tight atm, but still, i'm at the stage where I don't care what I drive, i'd rather have money in my pocket.

I have never liked rovers and never will lol.

Dan - I suppose it's the hatchback and not the coupe?

Quote from danthebangerboy :Well my 1998 R plate rover 200 1.6 16v will be up for sale quite soon.

Its MOTd until march 2010 and has zr180 brakes, a full competition exhaust system, induction kit, and the head gasket, inlet gasket and timing gear was all replaced last summer, plus it will come with the stereo as well, sony cd player and 6x9s in the front doors, plus an alpine 10" sub if you want it (but no amp, as it went bang), and little pioneers in the back shelves.

It will have alloys on it, but they will be 14" BBS multispokes, as im keeping my 15" 5 spokes for the MX-5

I was gonna put it up for about £800 or so, but for a fellow LFSer, i would take £600 for it.

It wont be quite yet, as my mate first needs to get his new car so i can buy his old one, but if your interested then let me know sam.

No offence Dan, but it's a Rover and I don't like them lol.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Why are you even thinking about getting a 1.9 TDI Audi as your first car? How do you think you're even going to afford it, with tax, insurance, diesel, tyres and the regular panel-beating you'll need? If you did want something with a bit of poke, get a nice clean (on second thoughts, good luck with that :razz 1.3 turbo Glanza. They're a complete ricemobile, but at least you can learn to drive in it. A big turbo diesel is not at all suitable to learn to drive for the first time. Believe me, I learnt 6 months ago with a 1 litre (68 BHP, quick for a 1 litre though ) and it was perfect.

There's a reason why only rich, spoiled kids get to drive big cars. Because they cost so much. Remeber, only cocks drive BMW anyway

Fixed.

Hmm, I suppose. I just want something different. I am very tempted by a 1.4 Civic (EK) though.
