People keep running into the back of my truck. I do not understand how they don't see it. The bumper got bent a long time ago so now all they hit is my trailer hitch, and it gets annoying having to clean the paint and plastic off all the time
6.5l diesel. Wrote a tune for it, brought up the boost but the factory turbo is too small. Exhaust upgrades are next. Roughly 25mpg is not too bad for its size.
The thing is amazingly fun to drive, always fun to have it sideways. New shocks seem to have fixed the wheel hop. haha

Currently at 250,000 miles on my 1989. Need to find my center caps.
Had to bring out my laptop and come up with a tune for it a while ago. Factory tune made it run like a BMW.... Oh wait, they use the same computers.
Gotta love those diesels. Just got done with a tune and wastegate mods on my truck. Put it in second gear at a roll and brake boost results in a lot of smoke from the back tires
Cop didn't see it, I didn't do it!
I guess I am kind of hypocritical. I don't give much of a damn about what happens to me but I don't want to see anyone else get hurt even if it is their own doing.
I may do stuff that people consider crazy, but if I have someone else in the car, I am not going to risk their lives. If someone is going to die, at least give them the chance to do it in their own way.
Personally I have taken cars through mountain roads going as fast as it would take and that includes coming out of corners sideways with the front end pointed at the edge of a cliff. Heck, I have done that on dirt roads with dirt-bikes too. I will never do any of it with passengers, I don't want another persons death on my hands if something goes wrong. I don't care if they knew what they were getting into or not, if I get someone killed, I am going to feel guilt.
I don't ride with people in cars if I can help it. I don't trust anyone. I have almost been killed by other people who I thought were friends. Now every time I take off my shirt I have the scars as a permanent reminder to never trust anyone. I want to die by my own hands doing something I love and I have come close more than once.
Last night, a friend of mine got killed in a car accident and another friend is in the hospital with serious head injuries. There were three people in the Subaru Impreza wagon and the person driving the car was trying to have fun on a mountain road and lost control. The passenger side of the car hit a rock face. Not sure how fast he was going but it was enough to kill. It had been raining earlier in the day so the roads were still wet in places.
The driver was a friend and he survived with minimal injuries. I really wish that I talked to him more before he got himself into trouble. He loved cars and was trying to find a car that he could have fun with. I always thought that he would learn by losing his drivers license or by wrecking and learning that he is not as good as a driver as he thought. Now I wish I talked some sense into him when I had the chance. I really wanted to take him somewhere empty and teach him how to drive but I kept putting it off. I guess I just never thought that he would do something stupid like this and get someone killed.
You never know when it will be the last time that you will ever see someone. Don't hold back from talking to a friend because you think you can do it another day, you may regret it later. I sure as hell do.
Please be careful and drive safely. It may be fun to blast through public roads pushing the limits but it never a good idea, but if you are going to do it at least be alone in the car! Don't take someone with you, it makes everything worse. Track days are cheaper than a life!
This is the second friend that I have lost in the last two years due to car accidents. Enough is enough. Pay attention to what you are doing and for god sake don't do anything stupid!
There is oil mixed with the fuel for a reason, it lubricates the cylinder and everything in the crankcase. The only thing that uses regular motor oil in a 2-stroke is the transmission and the clutch which is completely sealed off from the crankcase.
The first time I read that, I had not read the rest of the post and I was thinking you meant WHITE exhaust smoke
Trust me, when you run a 2-stroke hard enough the exhaust turns white and it is the worst smell you can ever get out of an engine.
I have owned many motorcycles but sadly none of the 2-strokes had odometers so I have no idea how many miles they had. They do wear out faster but it really depends on how it is taken care of. One of my motorcycles has 70,000 miles on it and all it needed was rings and valve stem seals while other people end up doing a complete rebuild at 30,000 miles. 2-strokes are the same way, there is no given distance that something will travel before it needs to be rebuilt.
Every single 2-stroke motorcycle engine that I have pulled apart has had either a cracked or broken piston but they don't care. As long as there is still compression and the piston is in one piece, they will run (well, they do run on shattered pistons too but they knock and backfire a lot). You always have to carry spare spark plugs though.
How long something lasts all depends on how it was taken care of. You have to be careful about the fuel/oil mixture, too much and you will go through spark plugs like no other and too little, the engine will seize. There are a lot of 2-stroke oils out there that really do not do their job and the engine will wear out very quickly or seize. Choose wisely!
Edit: Remembered that the old DT400 we had did have a speedometer and it was at 40k miles when we bought it. It ran but it it was tired so we bored it out and put a Wiseco forged piston in it so it would not crack again.
I forgot about this thread
Bought this on Monday and I am working on bringing it back to life how I want it. Rebuilt the carbs, hooked up a battery and the thing fired off instantly. Previous owner low-sided the bike in 1986 at 22,400 miles and it had not been started since.
I am changing the exhaust, doing a dual-disc front brake conversion, and putting real street tires on it. It could really use paint too.
The Government is too far gone for one person to fix and the average American is too stupid to put the pieces together to vote wisely and instead just vote for whoever they are told to. This just causes all the idiots/***holes to stay happy.
There is way too much corruption and greed within the government. Everyone is out to help stuff their own pockets and does not care about anyone else. Just look at how these people live! I can't put a number on how many government workers that live in multimillion dollar houses. This is where the tax money goes. It never makes it to where it is really needed or meant to go.
Slipping the clutch on downshifts might slow the car down and save on brakes but.... The clutch is far harder and more expensive to change than brakes But hey, it's your car and your money.
You hit a sore spot on me with that one.
Goddam I HATE Honda ECUs... Biggest pain in the ass to work with. Personally the most I would do with a Honda ECU is split it open to solder in the High side switch and resistors for the VTEC swap and I'd still charge around £100 for that.
Go with Independent aftermarket. Save yourself some money in the long run.
