Quote from MAD3.0LT :lol u oviously havent driven many superchagred/turbo'ed cars mate :P

im not talking about holding positive pressure for 10/20 even 70 seconds affecting it that badly that u cant brake. every turboed car i have driven if you hold positive pressure for about 40/60 seconds you can JUST feel a slightly harder pedal but if you trail brake and never let the car get vacume the brake booster lose's pressure due to braking and by the next corner you barely have any vacume left to assit in your braking.

I have driven enough to know that my face still gets peeled off with the same brake pressure. Driving along going up a long straight up hill section of road for about 15 minutes steady and not letting off, I still don't have any issue with brakes. Just one time of positive boost braking will not make that much of a difference for the next time you brake, it will if you keep it up for a couple more times.

unless you are on an oval or some strange track where you don't need to let off for a few corners that you for some reason brake for (ok, I can see this if you have a corner that you just want to slow down for a little but keep up the boost) I can't see you doing that more than 1-2 times before having to let off again for another corner. It usually takes 3-4 times for me to hit the brakes hard before my booster looses vacuum when I have no vacuum source.

Guess what. Ever think that the brake booster may be hydraulic? Besides, I have never heard of any problems with boosted cars having brake problems, if you do then you have that vac line hooked up to the wrong place pal.

A lot of cars have Hydraulic boosters now days. Never seen an electric booster though.

Rev limiters.. I don't mind them if they are set right. XRT for example is fine, It is far enough past The RPM that the engine is putting out the most power. The FZ5, FZR, LX6 and a couple others are annoying, You reach peak power and you smack the rev limiter right before you want to shift.

Damn! People want Stereo systems in LFS?! One of my cars does not have a radio and the other car is missing a few speakers.

Fix the headlights and I will think about removing the horn an option. Currently when I flash lights, NOTHING happens. I honk and most of the time someone actually says sorry or actually takes physical action to move the hell over so I can get all 4 wheels back on pavement.

If anyone wants a real nice backfire sound, My VW is not running right at the moment so it shoots some nice flames and a big bang

Most of the times I have seen, cars usually only backfire once when shifting. Your sounds sound good when letting off.

Yes, The throttle plate is slightly open while no throttle is applied (engine running or not).
On fuel injected engines there is a set idle RPM (usually 750rpm) that the cars Computer will try to maintain. When RPM drops below the set idle speed then the computer tries to correct for it. It does not open the throttle plate, the Idle Air control is there for a reason. This is a quite useful feature when some asshat parks an inch away from your rear bumper on an incline.
On a carburated engine, you are stuck with applying throttle and releasing the brake with one foot and letting out the clutch with the other foot. Or you could just use the e-brake.

Quote from tristancliffe :Wear has nothing to do with grip, per se, but it will alter the car's behaviour in other ways - reduced ride height [but not necessarily the same amount front and rear, thus altering rake angle], reduced heat capacity, uneven wear will make the handling change slightly...

So it's not the wear that alters the grip of the rubber - that isn't modelled - but the dynamics of the car alter for better or for worse.

I just was not sure if LFS actually simulated that or if I was just nuts

When I run a FZR for about 20 laps during practice or qualifying I run my normal times but after lap 9 or later things really begin pick up ) I can pick up a couple tenths of a second a lap. Fuel is not in question here seeing as I usually carry less fuel during qualifying so I refuel every 5 or so laps.

Am I just nuts or does LFS actually wear the physical tires down other than on the tire status display (F9). Slicks or not.

Quote from kirmy :sweet mother of mod, why would you want to change the cars in lfs, there is nothing wrong with them, plus it sounds strange having a 4 cylinder skyline, or a straight six veyron for example

Hmm, I like my 5 cylinder RB4 and my Flat 12 FZ5

I found it. What's funny is that It took me 3 tries to get his password right. That was before I found where he made his big post about it.
I took 2 years of german and I still understand more than enough to understand his post and what is what in the app.

Well, I could make all that but it would not come up on a touch of a button and it would be gloss black instead of CF.

I just don't have the time or money to do that.

I made my setup using 2x3's and a spare seat I had for my car. At least my seats are more suiting. My 20" monitor is about 1/2 meter away.

The seats except mine are not leather. Mine allow for some air flow so you don't get up with the seat stuck to your bum.

Reclining and it is on the original tracks so it slides back and forth (This is very useful if you saw my setup).

Hmm, I tried sliding into the same wall and went through. I was in SPR so there was no lag.
I did it once but I guess you have to hit it just right.

I finally got Tweak Y. I found out that it is really not what I was hoping it would be. No slicks, no wider tires, just power adding. Not much if you ask me. It does exactly the same thing as the App. I had in patch X.
I would rather have patch Z or S2 Beta.

Hmm, I got a problem. This app does NOTHING.
I click the shortcut, nothing happens. I click the EXE.. Nothing happens.

I have tried re installing, downloading, rebooting my computer and it still does nothing. It does not even show up in task manager. Ideas?

Never knew about setup grid. I always make my own setups.
Setup grid looks like it has more useful setups.

My real car acts like the people that set their brake pressures low. Guess what, for a couple hundred $$ I can have corvette 12" brakes on the car and the brakes will be able to stop the car many many times fast and not fade. They will also be able to lock but...

A proportioning valve does not cost much either, so don't remove the brake bias adjustment.

In all honesty about anything on a car can be modified with a bit of $$ and work.

The brakes on my car now are soo shameful. They are 9" solid discs all around for a car that weighs 2700lbs. Brake fade for this car is ugly seeing as it has nothing to begin with. I can barely get the thing to lock up on a wet road while it is raining.

Oh yea almost forgot..

CARBON CERAMIC BRAKE PADS FTW!

Quote from Technique :Using an h-shifter and clutch while everyone else is using a sequential and autoclutch is another disadvantage. But I strive for realism - even if it costs me time on the track.

Ehh, Tell that to all the aliens that are using sequential that end up in my rear view mirror.

I have my brakes set up so If I press my foot down to the floor, they WILL lock. I also use the h-shifter with clutch and no assists.

I say leave the brakes the way they are. If you think they have any sort of advantage, you are wrong. Their brakes may not lock but they loose out on stopping distance. You can hit the brakes far harder at higher speed without locking and then lift your foot up a bit as you get slower and completely out brake the guy that has his brakes set so they don't lock at any speed.

If your brain can't tell your feet what to do while doing heel-toe, then how other people set their brakes is the least of your problems.

I got a good one for you. If ya think it is an advantage, set it up that way and I will race you.

My setup: G25 set so it does 1:1 with the wheel in LFS. No assists, I use all 3 pedals (all 3 at the same time while downshifting), I use the H-shifter in every car I can.
