I have driven enough to know that my face still gets peeled off with the same brake pressure. Driving along going up a long straight up hill section of road for about 15 minutes steady and not letting off, I still don't have any issue with brakes. Just one time of positive boost braking will not make that much of a difference for the next time you brake, it will if you keep it up for a couple more times.
unless you are on an oval or some strange track where you don't need to let off for a few corners that you for some reason brake for (ok, I can see this if you have a corner that you just want to slow down for a little but keep up the boost) I can't see you doing that more than 1-2 times before having to let off again for another corner. It usually takes 3-4 times for me to hit the brakes hard before my booster looses vacuum when I have no vacuum source.
Guess what. Ever think that the brake booster may be hydraulic? Besides, I have never heard of any problems with boosted cars having brake problems, if you do then you have that vac line hooked up to the wrong place pal.
A lot of cars have Hydraulic boosters now days. Never seen an electric booster though.
Rev limiters.. I don't mind them if they are set right. XRT for example is fine, It is far enough past The RPM that the engine is putting out the most power. The FZ5, FZR, LX6 and a couple others are annoying, You reach peak power and you smack the rev limiter right before you want to shift.
Fix the headlights and I will think about removing the horn an option. Currently when I flash lights, NOTHING happens. I honk and most of the time someone actually says sorry or actually takes physical action to move the hell over so I can get all 4 wheels back on pavement.
Yes, The throttle plate is slightly open while no throttle is applied (engine running or not).
On fuel injected engines there is a set idle RPM (usually 750rpm) that the cars Computer will try to maintain. When RPM drops below the set idle speed then the computer tries to correct for it. It does not open the throttle plate, the Idle Air control is there for a reason. This is a quite useful feature when some asshat parks an inch away from your rear bumper on an incline.
On a carburated engine, you are stuck with applying throttle and releasing the brake with one foot and letting out the clutch with the other foot. Or you could just use the e-brake.
When I run a FZR for about 20 laps during practice or qualifying I run my normal times but after lap 9 or later things really begin pick up ) I can pick up a couple tenths of a second a lap. Fuel is not in question here seeing as I usually carry less fuel during qualifying so I refuel every 5 or so laps.
Am I just nuts or does LFS actually wear the physical tires down other than on the tire status display (F9). Slicks or not.
I found it. What's funny is that It took me 3 tries to get his password right. That was before I found where he made his big post about it.
I took 2 years of german and I still understand more than enough to understand his post and what is what in the app.
I finally got Tweak Y. I found out that it is really not what I was hoping it would be. No slicks, no wider tires, just power adding. Not much if you ask me. It does exactly the same thing as the App. I had in patch X.
I would rather have patch Z or S2 Beta.
My real car acts like the people that set their brake pressures low. Guess what, for a couple hundred $$ I can have corvette 12" brakes on the car and the brakes will be able to stop the car many many times fast and not fade. They will also be able to lock but...
A proportioning valve does not cost much either, so don't remove the brake bias adjustment.
In all honesty about anything on a car can be modified with a bit of $$ and work.
The brakes on my car now are soo shameful. They are 9" solid discs all around for a car that weighs 2700lbs. Brake fade for this car is ugly seeing as it has nothing to begin with. I can barely get the thing to lock up on a wet road while it is raining.
Ehh, Tell that to all the aliens that are using sequential that end up in my rear view mirror.
I have my brakes set up so If I press my foot down to the floor, they WILL lock. I also use the h-shifter with clutch and no assists.
I say leave the brakes the way they are. If you think they have any sort of advantage, you are wrong. Their brakes may not lock but they loose out on stopping distance. You can hit the brakes far harder at higher speed without locking and then lift your foot up a bit as you get slower and completely out brake the guy that has his brakes set so they don't lock at any speed.
If your brain can't tell your feet what to do while doing heel-toe, then how other people set their brakes is the least of your problems.
I got a good one for you. If ya think it is an advantage, set it up that way and I will race you.
My setup: G25 set so it does 1:1 with the wheel in LFS. No assists, I use all 3 pedals (all 3 at the same time while downshifting), I use the H-shifter in every car I can.
