I have done R/C racing and once the car is in the air, you can make it pitch any way you want once up in the air. You can start off the jump with the car pitching for a back flip then nail the brakes and do a front flip and still level it out for a perfect landing (sometimes). I ruined a couple bodies practicing that.

This does work with real cars, just nowhere near as responsive. I tried it in LFS and nothing happens at all. there should at least be a little control.

One more tip from me. Press and release the clutch as fast as humanly possible, this keeps the heat down and makes for faster shifting as clutch slip causes power waste.

Quote from legoflamb :Basically, I just learned to give people the finger.

Driving with Americans is scary. You never know what someone is going to do. I have been cut off so bad that the front of my car has been UNDER their car, I have been in a truck and cut off where I can't see much of their car.
I have had someone move over FULLY into my lane forcing me into oncoming traffic (I almost sh** myself).
I have had a flatbed truck coming head on at me and I would be dead if I had not moved off into the grass beside the road.
While carrying a load of engines in a large 3/4 Ton Chevy pickup some tard in a Lexus decided to panic stop in front of me. Sadly I hit the brakes and barely stopped in time (brake pedal to the floor). I wanted to see what a Japanese pancake looked like.

Sorry about the O/T. My suggestion for driving in america is to carry a 44 Magnum.

I use full H-shifter, full rotation, no auto clutch, and brakes that lock at any speed if I want.
I may not be the fastest guy all the time but I am faster than most of the people on the track.

If you want to get better just practice. I would not expect the heel-toe routine to be easy but it should work eventually.

Quote from pandera :The cable is cheap and plugging it in takes about 1 second, and using WiFi does not make the racing experience any more modern or cool... it causes it to lag...

I suppose you have a 30 meter cable you can send me?

I am using wireless and the other cars don't jump around at all and nobody has complained about lag when I am driving so close that mirrors are touching.
Current wireless signal strength: Low

He is not the only one with this problem. I also have the same issue. I can sit stationary on the track for the entire race and their skin will not load but the moment I spectate I can see the skin.

Don't forget to add if the ignition is off but the engine is still rotating, everything works fine!
If you are in my VW then you can just plain shut the engine off in neutral without having any problems But if you shut the engine off in my Porsche good luck steering, it has hard enough steering when it is running.
Just have to decide which cars in LFS have power steering or power brakes.

3 years? If I take your post right, you think nothing has changed in 3 years?
There is a long list of things that have changed and been added. This last patch has just taken a lot longer.

Just one small example:
Go back 3 years to S2 U or so and take the FBM around AS6 and tell me how the sequential gearbox works. Oh wait, you can't because none of those were there!!! I wonder how you can do that in the current version of LFS if the devs have not been doing anything

Quote from bubbles :That depends on the type of tire and it's hot air pressure, it's a lot more complex than what you said and all tires have different characteristics and chassis geometry.
Saying that racing simulators will never be the real thing.

I tried to keep it simple but you are correct.
Michelin LTX tires are hard compound and take years to wear out and still have lots of grip. (my favorites)
Take some BFG's and they are normally gooey and wear out in about a year or two not to mention that they don't grip as well. They leave some nice dark black marks though

LFS is actually VERY close to some real tires that I have used in the past.

I have had cars (and a truck) sideways in about every road condition. LFS is a little bit off in some areas but it is damn close.
The rear end of a car does come back faster in real life than in LFS. The cars in LFS react more like they are on dirt than pavement (bit more sluggish to react). The tires do not regain grip very fast in LFS, not sure how to explain this one.

If you get a car a little sideways in real life, it does not take much to bring it back and often you don't have to go near wheel center position to correct the problem. (much like LFS)

If you get the car REALLY sideways then you have to react much faster and turn the wheel almost (if not all the way) to opposite lock position. (very scary on ice in a tight roundabout). (much like LFS)

It is easier to react to a real car than it is to react to a simulator where the only thing you can feel is the feedback in the wheel or the car pitch on your monitor.

I'd give 50 for just a 1/10th scale lexan shell of the FZR.
Just imagine what I would give for a real one!! God I'd love to have a real FZR... :lovies3d: :wave2:

Quote from S3ANPukekoh3 : Anybody who has a problem with this is a "noob" and if you have less than 1000 posts your opinion is not valid. I think thats it.

What? Who is calling who a noob here? haha.. I have made 295 posts in almost 3 years (make that 296).

Well, here goes my little addition to this thread that expands 2 pages a day.
I head the VWS was coming out in December and I got excited because it is a new car. Then it got postponed because there were more bugs than expected, so Scawen decided to do the upgrades to the suspension while he was at the job of fixing bugs.
Well, possibly he is done with the bug fixing and the suspension and now he is working on some other things that needed to be fixed as well (like those stupid barriers) or even bigger things. You never know what they are working on that is taking them a long time.
I have seen some amazing things come out of the Devs in a very short ammount of time. I have also noticed that the longer the wait, the bigger the update is.

I am still waiting for the Scirocco but doing it quietly. Would any of you really be complaining about how long it is taking to finish the car if the devs never told us about it in the first place?

I find myself doing the heel-toe routine in the XRR, FBM, FOX, and the FO8 when I am downshifting into second or first.
I have the biggest problem with the XRR, it just does not like to go into those low gears without causing the rear wheels to slow down way too much.

The only experience I have had shifting a sequential gearbox without a clutch is on a motorcycle when that clutch lever gets snapped clean off. Downshifting without the clutch there is really not something I liked but up-shifting was fine.

ABS works no matter what you are doing to the car. The sensors detect rotation, they do not care which direction they are going. I have not worked with systems newer than 1995 but the general idea is the same. I don't know if the ABS now days has settings in the main ECM but in <1997 GM cars there was no such thing.
If you end up backwards then either you have failed or some joker failed and took you with him. There is always those people that send you spinning for the heck of it. I don't want any help driving so I don't care about ABS in reverse or Forwards, or sideways but some people want ABS to help them stop when their car starts going backwards for one reason or the other. I have done 235kph going backward headed for the pits before. I made it but I can see how someone with a mouse would have problems braking.

In my sisters VW, you can turn the ESP off and you can do stupid things without any electronics trying to help you. I am going to wait and see how the ABS compares to my sisters GLI.

I like my cars without any assists.
My VW lacks about every driving assist known to man.

I was just messing around with different LX combos today and I found a fun one.
If the car weighed about 460kg (LX4 weighs 467) empty and made 350hp with slicks then it would be perfect. Keeps up with GTR's no matter where they go, the LX would just accelerate far better.
Problems solved. It is harder to drive than the LX6 but it is supposed to be. Where is the fun in something easy to drive?

So many Modifications.
The only problems I see with the current is that some stuff is quite low res and the interior is the wrong shade along with the texture seeming a bit off.
I am going to take a camera to my sisters '06 GLI (not mine, I own older stuff) and fix the current interior. Change the seats but keep it Classy cloth volkswagen. The steering wheel is just WRONG, needs major adjustment.

Who would be up for High res but still proper and that would be something that would come from the VW factory? No after market stuff at all, just pure VW.

I never noticed the ABS light.. I guess that is because I don't use the ABS much less TCC .

JasonJ and I did some braking runs to see how well the system worked. Well, a lot of the time I could stop quicker than the the ABS system even when we were using the same setup. Sure I messed up a bit and the ABS system did its job for the other guy. I still like doing it without ABS knowing that I can stop faster than the guy with ABS if needed.
Watching the replays shows that we were both hitting the brakes within a meter of each other so don't complain.

I have had lots of fun with a tweaked LX6 to the performance specs of the LX8. That combo on road supers is not scary at all, in fact I find it is actually kinda nice. Fine, the LX6 runs out of grip as it is, I personally don't have this problem unless I am in first or second gear. giving it an extra 155hp did not bother me, I just had to use less throttle around a corner and it took a little longer to get my foot all the way down. Put it all on slicks and It goes from something exciting to something dull.
Now if you put about 570hp and slicks it becomes something fun again that really is not that hard to drive, you would just have to get used to the fact that it does go like a bat out of hell and can't completely floor it out of a corner and hope to come out straight

This was all Done in patch Z.

If my sister leaves her car and her keys tomorrow, I am going to take my camera and change some things in the interior to make it a little better.
Some things can be improved quite a bit so I might as well make a high-res interior while I am at it.

Quote from Takumi_lfs :Btw, ready to edit the sound file because the standard one sounds crap

Yeah.. Does not sound right at all.
I will be happy once I get it to sound like my sisters '06 GLI, just did a cat-back exhaust on that one and it sounds good.

Tires need improvement. They don't act like real tires. They don't last as long as real tires when you are doing stupid stuff. At the start of a race all you do is floor it and let the wheels spin and you get a perfect start. Try that in real life and you will probably have another car into the back of you (or front if you really screw it up).
Hmm, what else needs to be fixed... Weather needs to be ADDED but adding something is not fixing it... AHA! Barriers! They need fixing!

Quote from Exile R :why does it reset? can the engine not simulate faster than that or something?

The car can go faster but LFS just resets the car if it goes that fast. Well, it reset the car in patch W, I have not tried it since... Gives me an idea.

/me goes to see if it still does it.

Quote from EmilO :Yeah! 872km/h

Keep going faster. I have gone to the point where it resets your car. it is around 720mph.(around 1160km/h) I did that in the FOX
