Greg Moore I believe you were thinking of. He raced in CART still.
Hats off to Pug for building a tank of a car.
On topic,
At least the production vette C6 ZO6 now has a 7.0 liter. When they first allowed it (to fight the Viper's 8ltr V10), the production C5 only had a 6.0, making it rediculous.
This thread has survived some extended OT's, so one more will be fine.
Lol, I agree, I'm not complaining about the targeting at all, and more oval content would only make LFS more popular.
That said, without some big gaps in the current content offering filled(think LMP, MR GTR, Classics, tracks, interiors, etc), I'd be disappointed if LFS went after that market.
I'm the same way, if it weren't for the off-line grip, Legends car, and the SR8 Radical, I would have no desire for iracing either.
If it weren't for just a few unique features, i think the appeal of iracing (to our LFS audience) would be very limited.
Agreed, Legends cars, and late-models a la irental are not as aero dependant as typical Stock cars.
Legends cars are race on ovals 1/4mile up to maybe 3/4miles (also in road racing events including 25 hours of thunderhill). Late models probably rarely go onto oval tracks 1 mile or more. Either way, aero is important, but there is not the kind of drafting or speeds we see on our huge oval.
So yes, similar cars would be a nice addition, but it would need to include some small ovals. And as hard as content is to come by here at LFS, ovals and oval cars would start a huge poo-storm within the community (although Scawen's recent language packs have been atempts to broaden the market appeal of LFS  )

So what truely justifies the price of iracing? What is communications with the dev team like? How will the progress take place (ie seperate test patch testers?).
The initial content does seem really low to justify the pricing.
That and never having ownership/control of the software really is making it hard for me to warm up to it.
So the big one is this weekend. Should be very exciting to see all the new hardware out there. Anybody going? Anybody excited?
I'm going out on a limb and say Audi pull out the 8th win in a row (if you include the "Bentley"). That said, Peugot looks stronger than ever.
My biggest hope is that the race isn't marred by a questionable extended SC period under rain again.
Anyone see Marc Gene's lurid crash of his 908? Scary stuff, glad he's alright.
[aside] Also, this sadly marks another year where LFS has no LMP style car, one would be a welcome addition. Radical now has had a car in Le Mans for 2 years(?), and with the existing ties with iRental and the SR8, it's not too far fetched to imagine irental will get it soon too. Hopefully we will get one sooner or later for some awesome multi-class endurance racing.[/aside]
Except lots of professional racers are obligated to promote their own game (i.e. I doubt EA/NASCAR is going to allow Dale Earnhardt Jr to promote irental even if he does fully support it).
The more I think about it, the more off-putting it is that I would have to wait weeks or months (and 15-30 extra $s) to race the SR8 Radical if I ever subscribed.
Lastly, I really do have to agree with one of Monty's points, it's 2008 (halfway through no less). Sim racing (as a whole) does not have terribly much to show from the past 3 years. irental promises to bring at least a little of what's been missing for very long, and Hopefully LFS will match and again surpass what irental offers.
