:wow:

I usually really do not like drift movies, or mixed drift/hl scenes, but this movie was one of the best I have seen until now.

9/10, because synchronisation was not perfect all the time, but a great movie anyways.

@Gener_AL: it would be interesting to see the replays of the other racers on the server and see if they look like the one you recorded.

PHP 5 does, but PHP 4 may want to do bad things with the objects.

Quote from MikeB :
As i said i have no experience with PHP sof ar. I am using php5 as installed by my ISP. Is there anything useful i could do to help track this error down?

You can in fact. First thing you can do is try to replace

<?php
global $LFSWorld;
?>

by

<?php
global &$LFSWorld;
?>

Else PHP could try to create a copy of the $LFSWorld object instead of passing a reference to it to the function.

If this does not work, try giving $LFSWorld as a parameter to your function:

<?php
function get_lfsw_teams(&$LFSWorld) {

// ...
}

$LFSWorld = new LFSWorldSDK($idk);
get_lfsw_teams(&$LFSWorld);
?>

This should work in every case.

Quote from Scawen :I've already been through various possibilities, including that one which I don't like. I don't want to confuse users and add dialog boxes. I never thought of Kegetys's autodetection idea which seems to best so far. It will only go into a window, if it needs to. And if it does, the firewall popup should be clearly visible and accessible. I don't think anyone will come up with a better idea than that, because it is all beneficial and has no drawbacks.

Sounds to me like you want to remove the user option "run windowed" or the shift-f4 key combo for changing from window to fullscreen and vice-versa. please do not, some addons (like LFS Display) really need the windowed mode of LFS =)

Quote from Scawen :...things about zonealarm...

The new ZoneAlarm Version finally has a gaming mode. Its available via [Right Click on ZoneAlarm window] -> Gaming Mode. A window will pop up asking you how you want ZoneAlarm to handle Internet-Connections of new programs while in gaming mode - AutoAccept or AutoDeny. Eureka, no ZA window will pop up.

Even if there is a name&shame no-no on this forums, these two have goddamn deserved to be mentioned. They are really bad crashers - worst I've ever seen I'd say.

Does anyone remember a post that took place here about a month ago? It was mentioned there that a clan named "myg()t - the harassment authority" had put lfs on their harassment list. maybe two members of them finally decided to buy a license to go harrassing on lfs servers because they could not crack the licensing system of lfs

Disclaimer: the above paragraph was a joke - don't take it too serious

Quote from Scawen :OK...

a) Removed text "LEFT pit lane" and "ENTERED pit lane"
...
b) FIX : Black screen bug when changing between full screen and windowed

a) Erm... Why? This always helped me recognizing when I was able to push the pedal to the metal again after a pit stop (well... maybe precisely because of this help )

b) Great work, Can not do the bug in any way now.

Quote from Jakg :...technically there won't be a U24...

It of course will. first thing is that on some point click sounds are echoed or disappear, and AFAIK Scawen promised an auto-patcher for the UXX test patch series, so there will at a minimum be two more test patches - first one addressing the few left sound bugs and implementing the autoPatcher, the next testing the auto-patcher.

Quote from Scawen :/exec E C : run program E with command line C

Am I understanding it correctly that I could update the hosts config file using InSim now?

echo text > config.txt

so it would be
/exec echo text > config.txt

in lfs now? sorry if I understood it wrong (and for my bad english).

wow... reading all these reports makes me sorta happy

the last time this soundcheck test program was run, We were talking about a sound lag of 0.3 up to .7 seconds. now (on my XP machine) it works extremely well even with soundlag of 0.02! great work you did there Scawen!

Hi kamo,

you should give the LFS-TV client a few seconds (half a minute should be OK) to write the replay file ahead. This is because LFS does some sort of read-ahead when reading replay files, and the caster LFS also caches the replay data a bit before writing it to the temporary MPR file (and it of course can only be broadcasted if the data is in the file).

Indeed it is, it is called InSim.txt.

Great Work WolleT, looks very good indeed

Got two Questions:

First: Do you sort of "cut" the replay so the watcher gets a (of course delayed, but "live") replay or does the Relay host simply send the whole replay to the client from the start of recording?

Second is about the first known problem,
Quote :
Known Problems:
- People who join the server between the caster clicks cast and the watcher clicks watch, will not be displayed in the replay or will produce error messages.

This could be solved using an insim connection with flag "ISF_RACE_TRACKING" and a watching for NCN-Packets, couldn't it?

Other Problem that may be connected with the sound now being generated in a different thread:

I was racing in a grid of 10 people this morning, and on start I got massive FPS problems (3 FPS illepall) and sound was only hearable whenever a new frame became visible. It sounded a bit like when you TAB between cars quickly. This problem occured in all earlier patches as well, BUT there I had 15FPS on start, not 3.

System: 1,4GHz P4, R9800Pro, 1GB RAM, Onboard AC'97 Soundcard. Win XP SP2 + All Hotfixes till August 2006.

Quote from GP4Flo :
More sound lag
With U20 I can set the sound lag to the lowest possible value (0.10s) and it sounds very smooth. With U21 I get the impression that the sound is delayed for a higher value. It's difficult to say how much, because it's all down to hearing it, but with the direct side by side comparison I'd say that the lag is around 0.20 s now, a lot higher than before.

Lower sound quality
When reving the engine of e.g. the BF1 in single player mode I get the impression, that some parts of the engine sounds are missing. It's difficult to describe, but I think some sound parts are kicking in after some time delay, in contrast to U20 where you can hear the whole engine sound right from the beginning.

I was not able to reproduce these two. Could verify the other two you mentioned Flo.

Sad thing to read this, but I think a "farewell" is not the right thing to say now, I think the better thing will be "See you later". Anyways, good luck with the things you are going to do now you have got spare time, and please don't forget us completely .

Greets and good luck again,

Quote from Scawen :Well that's really hard to guess because I am dealing with issues where the answer is not yet known. I'm currently working on the Vista sound problem as well, and finishing the auto patching system. All I can say is that I hope that the next test patch will be ready not long after mid-month sort of time.

sounds great! good luck!
