Quote from danowat :I would need to do some SERIOUS training to do that!!!, 150miles in 6 days?, christ, that takes some serious dedication!!!.

yeah, it does but remember, all you have to do each day is beat the camel that walks behind you! The main issue is feet disintegration. The sand as an abrasive tool is destructive to the skin!

Quote from danowat :Yeah, the watch is a great bit of kit, best £200 I have spent I think

sorry, but which watch is it again?

Ever thought of trying for the Marathon des Sables at all? I have a few friends that have done that in the past.

Great job on the pb Dan

That garmin watch looks like a really cool piece of kit!

Alternative fly-by at Knockhill :)

Rather than the typical fly-by, a stuntman has tried to get in the Guinness book of records for doing 54mph at Knockhill with a jet pack!!!

If I was near Knockhill this Sunday, I think I'd have to go see

Hey Al.....

I do think it's a difficult one with development like this. One thing I love about LFS is the fact that the community feel of the game and amount of people consistently playing it comes from the fact you can play on a lower end PC as well as high end.

If we're looking at pushing LFS toward that goal, a good amount of lower end PC drivers might be alienated.......

Surely for LFS, its as much about the other things to the actual shaders etc. I haven't yet read the PDF but will tonight

Quote from richard dk :I like the Mazda on some tracks like Road America and Road Atalanta and I will maybe race on them. But I have never liked downforce Formulas so much. In LFS I really HATE the BMW Sauber and the Fo8. They are fun on ovals but not on roads. If there was more ovals in LFS I would have driven them more often.
In iRacing i`m looking forward to Indy Cars..
I think Mazda is great on Milwaukee and Phoenix..a Formula oval series would be very welcome imo..and I think we will see it in next season..

Also I can`t drive too many things at the same time.. oval racing is taking so much time... and I got hooked at it in my second season of iRacing..

I don`t think the Mazda is more difficult or easier to drive than the Skip Barber, it`s just that I ain`t hooked so much on the downforce cars. I like the Skip Barber and thinks the car is very easy to drive. I loose iRating points in Mazda and gains a lot of points in the Skip Barber.. Never driven any Formula like the Skip Barber in any Sim..it`s just the best...

I don`t wanna race the Spec Racer Ford this season. I don`t like the idea going down in the Rookie class, but i`m sure I will drive SRF when private leagues are coming..it`s such a great and rewarding car to drive and I think the sound is the best in iRacing...

I will for sure renew my yearly membership in two months time - no doubt about that..

ROFL!!!! I tell you, the INDYCAR sounds awesome! I love the oval racing for some reason on iRacing. The system works very smoothly. My driving is the opposite though and I am rarely smooth turning left all the time

Quote from richard dk :I don`t like the bigger cars so much, so most of my time is in Skip Barber..But I can still enjoy a race in the Radical or Riley....or the Mazda..

Great stats....

I just wondered... what don't you like about the Mazda..... is it that it's a bit too easy to drive compared to the Skippy or the level of competition?

Will you be driving the Spec Racer this season? I think that should be quite a popular series...

======================

I like the shorter races more than long races (as RSR knows!!! ) but the Mazda is about right in race length I think at about 45 mins! I'd like to do more radical but at race lengths of about 1 hour + its a bit much for my concentration

Quote from anttt69 :Whilst im not going to argue with you about this I object to your harsh reactions.
You call me cheeky & then accuse me of taking advantage of the forum. If i am not mistaken this forum is here to be used by all of us. I haven't broken any of the forum rules so I dont see the problem. Why not just move it to the thread that YOU want it in?

+ many many more. I just dont understand your sudden outburst?

He's looking after the Dev's in essence. I do see his point and really, the thread should be within the iracing forums directed at iRacing members that also play LFS.

However, as you rightly put, you're not breaking a rule and the personal opinions of a moderator should not come in to the moderating of a post or thread, particularly when you don't break a rule!

=====================

On the subject of whether iRacing is a success, I do think the real crunch time comes in June and July when those that bought a year, come to renew. How many will be doing that?

I have the year and I think I agree with what the last post said, had I not got the year, I would more than likely have cancelled to do odd month's here and there...... I think the downturn in the economy has and will have a huge influence on people's purchasing power, especially in a service like iRacing. I hope it does do well. The tracks are fantastic to drive on and a lot of the cars are just great fun to drive. While the system certyainly has its flaws, from the SR to the rating system, I've had more clean and fun races there with what's in place than anywhere else. I can't imagine what LFS would be like if they had a voice feature ingame! Crikey me!

After driving Road Atlanta for years in Forza, trying it in iRacing has been a revolution, especially in the Mazda!

Quote from Gnomie :Well at least you gave it a try.

Be sure to try the Spec Racer before you leave for good, though.. with Ian Lake's setup (attached) it feels GREAT. Best feeling car I've ever tried in any sim. Period. Official races start again on Tuesday, and it seems like this series will be very well populated. I'm looking forward to it!

He's been sharing this set publically on the iRacing forums BTW, so he won't mind that I pass it on.

thanks mate... I do think the Spec Racer will be massively popular...

Quote from SilverArrows77 :Is that all? Thats really quite reasonable then, for some reason i imagined it being much more. Thanks for info

I might be wrong but I think that's the initial program to get you up and running. I think you then download the content like tracks and cars seperately. That I think will be about 500 meg or something like that......

I'd allow for a gig though overall!
