Mcintyrej: I looked at the D40 but it's £300. I will move into DSLR photography at some point, but as a poor student the £120 Fuji's price/performance ratio is what drew me to it.

SamH: Hehe, don't worry- the looks of the Fuji are simply an added bonus and not the main reason I chose it

Strobe: You're absoloutely right, I realise lens changes are part of a dSLR's appeal but right now all I want is a wide range of shooting options without being tempted to spend even more on different lenses!

Nice car on its own, but I wouldn't want the FXO to turn into one of those slow, modern cars with more focus on knobs and buttons than driveability.

What I don't get is how the postmen expect the country to be sympathetic to their cause when their way of protest is by screwing us.

I'm in the market for a new camera and 'hybrid/bridge' cameras have recently caught my eye as an alternative to a pricy DSLR.

This camera seems to be my perfect choice. The only advantage DSLRs have over this seems to be faster shots and even better picture quality, but they're hugely expensive, require different lenses and don't have video modes so I'm willing to take the drop in image quality. These hybrid cameras also have SLR-style looks and a huge range of manual options.

Because self-made transfers always have a sort of different-colour-to-the-shirt border around the edge which really gives it away.

The porn spam seems to be an unfortunate side effect of Youtube these days.

To the OP: Plug the hard drive into another PC and retrieve the data. Odds are, the drive is dying but right now all that's broken is the bit with Windows on. I've done this more times than I care to count, your data probably isn't lost yet.

Not much of a plot, but the usual brilliant Tarantino dialogue and the chase at the end made it plenty watchable. Oh, and the lapdance scene! Pulp Fiction is still best though.

Good job, I always find it hard to make car stories interesting but you managed it. The level of technical detail isn't too much imo. Tidy up the spelling/grammar and you're there.

They give grants in exceptional circumstances. But these days the norm is a £2500 per year loan. They give £4k to people living away but that barely covers rent.

Agreed. London is an overpopulated, polluted, ugly s***hole IMO. I don't see the appeal personally. I mean, there's not even one decent transport option (except the DLR, which doesn't cover much of the place anyway).

InSim (or is it OutGauge) causes the firewall to complain when using CSR and that's on the same machine!

Because I use OpenOffice and there's still a lot of things it can't do. It's not a perfect alternative yet. £40 out of a £2500 student loan ain't much for top-end software.

For one, there's the time required for downloading a 500Mb torrent, which varies hugely depending on torrent health and which ports your ISP feels like restricting today. Also, you have to choose the right one or there's always a chance it may not finish/you may never get over 30Kb down and it'll take weeks. £40 for the convenience and not having to worry when a patch comes out suits me.
