Not sure I agree there.. most of the time it still seems possible to find a tasteful aftermarket solution, at least for cars that aren't tooo new. It's like car companies realized people were replacing their headunits & specifically started designing dash's so nothing but factory could possibly fit/look nice, heh. That said, many newer systems have much better sound quality & features. Sadly, cars tend to be pretty crappy now otherwise, haha.
Looks good lfsrm! Pretty well unrelated & I know it's just wheels, but I've always liked blue/orange together as well.. (back when I had a 4-wheeler, Yamaha, I changed the bodywork from green to blue & had a mostly orange helmet )
Don't remember replying to you in awhile, unless you took my thoughts on improper suspension alterations to be directed at you for some reason.. (which the ultimate issue is safety, not performance, when you get down to it) Untypically, it sounds like iFastLT actually knows what he's doing though.
Good, but you didn't get that across within your original post. You came off like the typical tard that chops springs, doesn't really pay attention to rates, pre-loading etc. (and your previous car didn't help that image)
Agreed, though a touch low/nearly shoveling snow @ like 2". Maybe that was the idea for the shot & he's got something else and/or typically raises it a bit come winter?
Sadly, the checks in hand for the FD. I suppose that means operation 190whp+ is in effect for the Miata come spring, with new paint and a few supporting mods to be done between now & then. Once I recover from the blower costs, I should be in a better financial position to treat the MX-3 to some overdue love as well. (though it's still tempting to "trade" it off for a 1st gen Impreza project - hmm..)
EDIT - didn't wanna waste bandwidth with a reply to the below, so.. he's right. the looks do say it all - all the ways the owner's ruined the car. like I said, at least he's not in denial though I guess, like most of the rest of the hella-stancewerkz etc bunch. Oh gosh, and now I see he's planning to chop & throw random shit together and call it suspension too, hmmm, lol. I'm glad I'll never be around that car on the road!
I know, it's not his fault he's blind right! (got ma blacked out Ray Charles shades ready for "ginho, the 2nd edition". bring the retina burn I guess! )
Damn, that blows man. Luckily in my area, cracked windshields are automatically covered under insurance, no matter the plan type. (& don't affect rates) Has to do with all the coal/quarry trucks littering the state's back roads. Whether a windshield costs or not, it's still a bummer though.
On a completely unrelated note.. I've previously mentioned, (a couple times), that I was thinking of selling my beloved beast & had what looked like a serious buyer on the hook. Well, I've got the check in hand but now am not sure if I can let'r go!! (he's a friend/doesn't want me to get rid of it if I'm not certain) Part of the reason I'm reluctant all of a sudden is I'd not payed attention to the $$$ I'd managed to stash away since taking ownership, (been doing the shoe-box thing ), while also dealing with a loan. (that'll be up come spring) Or in other words, I can better afford owning it than previously thought. Of course doing so has halted my spending money in various other areas too, like the desired update/replacement of my 11yo Trinitron/tube-TV etc. :o Baa, decisions suck!!
EDIT - if only selling meant I had the $$$ to possibly snag this as a project....
Eeeek! I've run into similar sounding situations. Luckily, my swap shouldn't be tooo bad.. still keep putting it off though. Would like to recoup a little by selling the current panels, but I bet one more removal will finish at least one of them off.
Oh man, I feel your pain.. got one of those which I thiiink has to do with door lock linkage, aggravated by the 4cyl shimmy. Luckily, as just said, it's mostly when idling/moving slowly, though not always. And we ALL know how fun door panels.. AREN'T!! :gnasher: (especially paper thin ones that're 16yo & fit like a drum) Eventually I plan to swap in 2nd gen Miata panels as they look nicer. As a bonus, they also require a completely different linkage setup, lol. Till that time I wedge somethin between the panel & seat bolster and/or lean on the arm rest too hard! Good luck in your hunt man!!!
EDIT - Oh yea, and I think I've picked up another minor one up front somewhere
Hmm, never thought of getting a bigger car so I'd have a trunk and space for an over-sized sound system. The bandpassed 12's were kinda fun for scaring back-seat drivers though!
(came with the car & were eventually replaced by a more efficient setup) Was about to insert a bad pun regarding woofers.. oh wait, lol.
There're very few cars out there where I'd go for anything but a 2d variant.. unless I had a wife & kids that'd be riding along often/carpooled people regularly etc. Wagon only if I needed the ability to haul lots of stuff on a regular basis, or maybe still had a big dog that thought it had to go everywhere. (for a zillion reasons I won't go into) I have to say, BMW's put out some of the classiest wagon's though & I'd likely look for a used one if that's what fit my needs!
Sure it does, two less doors. (though that looks good too)
And speaking of car swaps.. sadly, it looks as though I've ran into a serious party on the FD. As previously mentioned, if that happens the plan is to supercharge the Miata to the tune of around +100hp & it'd free up funds for other fun stuff. (both automotively speaking & not) Which isn't at all bad or boring. (the MX-3 could see some due attention and/or possibly be replaced by a 1st gen Impreza, winter/back-roads explorer) It'll still be a little rough parting ways though!!
Can hardly tell what the rims look like in the "now" pic, though from what you can see.. they look about on-par with them. Factory might look better IMO - would have to see all three together.
