Can somebody expand on how to do this/your favorite OGG encoder? I just downloaded CDMaster5.xxxx and it sorta just locked up, not to mention when looking in the OGG folder within the LFS dir. I don't see a bunch of files for each specific LFS song. (or maybe there's only one, or it's all encoded into one long, seek-able file?) I searched and this thread was the best one I seem to have come up with..

for starters, a Miata isn't anywhere near as tail-happy in a turn. (I find the XRGT can be pretty easily myself) have you taken it to a parking lot and played? (at least not a 1st gen.., so that may very well be the discrepency here) I'm not sure exactly how the modeling works either, but a 2100lb'ish car will amost always feel a good bit different than a 2600lb'ish car. 4-500lbs makes a pretty noticeable difference when you get down to those weights and size powerplants, as does a car being wider/longer/taller. again, I'm compairing to my 1st gen, as I think it's overall simplicity would suit the game better. after noting some specs, maybe the 118 or 128hp variant would be a good competitor to the XFGTi. due to weight and whatnot, one of those might fair pretty fun against an XRGT too.. (slightly lower hp/weight vs. bigger/heavier etc)

I love slower racing, I think I might actually prefer it most of the time, haha. If they went with a 1st generation type, there's a few HP ratings they could choose from too, starting @ 102.. I could be wrong, but that might be pretty competitive with the XFGTi, and maybe an upper "Mazdaspeed" type version to compete with the XR GT Turbo or somthing. Personally I'm really after the lower HP version though.. High grip, balanced handling, low HP, lightweight roadster fun. They'd be a real blast, esecially on smaller, tighter tracks.

Yeah, handicaps could work out great. Of course my expierience is it can still be pretty hard to make handicaps work very well in a game-racing environment, but who wants things too easy, haha. Good idea for the big 3 to possibly toss around and see what they might come up with, at some point.

I'd love to see all three gen's of MR2's in the game, but yes, specifically the first and third. Both great handling little cars - though it's obvious what styling Toyota was "copying" with the last one..

That's why I want one. (other than owning one ) Even if it had to run with only "Miata's", it'd have to be killer fun. I know it's a completely different game, but my favorite race on Granturismo 3 was the 2 hour enduro with stock Miata's. All you could change was tire compounds and which edition of the car you drove. I always ran the lowest HP edition and "crappier" tires, so I would run equal with the pack, and pitting had to be strategically timed. I want that, with all the nuances of LFS! Of course there could be a hotter, "Mazdaspeed" version that might be competitive with some other cars in the game, I'm not really sure there, I'm still S1 and a n00b.

99.9% of these skins just flat out ROCK! (and I've seen none that I would say I dislike ) Thanks all, and keep up the good work. Ooh.. Soper, if it doesn't say "public" on it, does that mean we shouldn't use it on our own vehical in online play? (and yes, I know, nobody will see my skin till I'm S2 - but I'll take care of that ASAP, as well as get a DFP, hehe)

EDIT-actually, being as new as I am, what's the general edicate of using anybody's skin online?

Quote from Vendetta :Hehe, now its all compressed up. Fiddle around with it until you get something that looks nice and doesnt take up too much space Anyway, lets continue with the stunts!

Yeah, like maybe put the 1/4 mile and HP/ft-lb and then a webpage link for the rest. Oh yeah, great stunts, keep 'em commin!

Yeah, I myself don't want an LX4 competitive Miata - that's not a Miata. I want lightweight, low HP, high grip, perfectly balanced, RWD roadster fun. Maybe a hotrod "Miata" for those that want it, but... I also agree, racing one type of car in races is fine, though it would be neat to race a few different classes in say, an enduro type event.

Maybe this one's been posted and I just didn't see it.. I was just goofing off in the RB4 GT and realized the boost and temp gauges overlap with the first 1500RPM on the tach. Nothing major and not complaining, just a flaw I saw in guage layout.

I'm not fully versed in how all this works, but maybe some changes to the way forcefeedback works in the game - mainly regarding "hardware damper and spring effects". More info in my thread, over in the tech. assistance forum.. http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 99&posted=1#post53299

A little sad to hear this, though I still need a wheel, and maybe somthing will come of this in later patching etc. I'm sure it can't be nearly as bad with a wheel either. The only thing that should ever be done with a stick is flying, haha. As for "damping effect for your joystick (if the drivers support that)", I'm not sure what you mean by this Android, but I don't think MS software supports this feature. Is it a Logitech thing? (since at least up until MS dropped out, them and Logitech were the two big competitors in the feedback world..)

somthing like a Miata?

Maybe I've missed the suggestion, or maybe it's already available with the S2 license, but a car much like the 1st generation Mazda Miata.. small, lightweight RWD roadster with, a small displacement, low output, smooth revving powerplant.

Quote from durbster :My mate had one for a few years and they're pretty good. They share the same platform as the Probe which is reputed to be quite a decent chassis. The V6 produces a lovely sound but the performance doesn't completely live up to it, unfortunately. It was OK, but the acceleration didn't really thrill me when I was a passenger in it.

Being a Mazda, the engine at least is built to survive a direct hit from a nuclear weapon, and being based on a Ford I would imagine parts are easy to come by and fairly cheap. My mate's was well over 100,000 miles and it seemed to run as sweet as new.

He only got rid of it to save a bit of cash for the birth of his first child.

Not to drag off topic, but actually the Probe and MX-6 are Mazda, (not actually Ford, as many older Fords tend to be), and based on the 626 chassis. All 3 are great cars - though obviously the lighter, MX-6/Probe are the sportier of the trio. (and are mechanically identical to eachother) The 6cyl MX-3 shares a nearly identical K-series V6 to the 6cyl MX-6's, though in 1.8L form. My 2.5L is from a North American '93 Probe.. (soon to be replaced by the 190hp'ish JDM variant, though with thicker, Millinea valve spring retainers) For all Probe/MX-6 related, stock or mod-wise, checkout www.probetalk.com

Quote from Tweaker :I haven't bought any gift for myself, just food I am eating at the moment

It is funny to hear people talk about the gifts they bought themselves for xmas..

Haha, well, I wanted to have somthing more than a PS2 game and some fried chicken, so after playing the demo for a day I decided LFS was worth getting myself, and calling it "for Xmas". When I was younger my Mom used to have me order my own stuff, with a price limit, then she'd wrap it and put it under the tree. Guess there was no surprise, but she knew I really wanted the stuff and she wouldn't have a clue how to order the right parts, lol. (I'm heavy into the good remote control car/plane etc. scene)

These are both ooold pics, but still my pride and joy, (and don't look too much different - I'm more of a performance guy, as well as poor, lol). The most notable modification between either is the MX-3's 1.8L V6 has been replaced with a beefier 2.5L. (it's also got a few bolt-ons, and some light suspenion and brake system mods, front signals replaced with E-specs) The Miata basically just has a Borla catback. Oh, and Tristan, I feel your Miata-love, but as has been stated, think you exaggerated the car's abilities a tad. It's also not smart to be a total FWD basher, and Suspension/tire mods can do much for performance if well thought out. Ooh, my MX-3 is the purple Special Edition on the right. (the color in the pic is bad, and I replaced that horrid dealer goldened emblem, haha)

I bought myself my S1 license, and hopefully will be able to afford to upgrade to an S2 after I finish the last minute Christmas shopping this week. That, home made fried chicken, and one of the Ratchet & Clank games I think my girlfriend bought me, ought to cover my whole Christmas, lol.

Well I read 3 pages of this thread and it's done two things for me.. annoy the crap out of me, and give me an even deeper respect for the game and its 3 developers, haha. As soon as money allows I'll go ahead and buy my S2 license. I haven't been around long, but am already one of many here who think this is the best racing simulator available, on any platform. Two to everybody involved, keep up the good work guys. You know exactly what you're doing.
Forcefeedback patches?

Don't flame me, but this thread is about driving with feedback, and with a joystick, lol. Until I can afford to move to a DFP, (only wheel I would buy, due to the 900 degree rotation, feedback, and ability to use it on the PS2/3), I'm stuck playing LFS with my MS Feedback 2 stick. Once I get the car moving and can be REALLY gentle moving the stick for steering, it feels pretty good, but starting from a stop or moving the steering left or right a tad too quick, produces a horrible left/right stick motion that's just about impossible to gain control of. Even with the feedback strength turned down to like 35% I get a violent left to right motion, like a steering wheel that's trying to center due to the car wanting to track straight. (and below 30% it's not strong enough to make worth having on) So my question is, is there any fix/patch for this, for us poor guys stuck playing with a joystick? I've never expierienced this before with any other driving game, and if only there was a way to get past it I think feedback would be a welcome addition to joystick driving - but until then, I just have to turn it off, heh. Oh yeah, for the record, this is playing without any MS software running, which means the issue isn't due to having the incorrect feedback profile selected etc. Speaking of which, maybe somebody knows where to get a good LFS specific profile I could use to remedy the problem?
