I'm still stuck driving with my MS FF2 stick. I've always set the throttle slider to be my E-brake. The game is picking it up, but when I actually try and use it while driving, it does not work? Works fine in all other games. (I know, this is a poorly written post, will explain better if needed/able )
Got'r done and looks like everything went as described/expected! For whatever reason it didn't save my guage options, as far as visual's, but that's the only thing I'm seeing not as it was before. Thanks again! (was really expecting to get alot of flamer-type replies lol)
Alrightey.. well I was here a little bit back saying I'd accidentially downloaded the latest server update and installed it into my non-server game folder. This caused some rather major problems. I currently have my original game install running fine, except it's missing some sound effects. (such as tire noises etc) I also just downloaded the newest version of the game and installed it in a different location. What I need to know is what folders to paste into the new game install so that I lose NO in-game settings or textures? I thought I'd just be able to copy/paste sound files etc. over to the old game install but I see the format of the files in the "Sound" folder has changed.. Thanks in advance for any help! I apologize for not having the time to properly search this out myself, but I'm lucky to get any play-time in at all these days..
I completely agree, and also that the driver is the biggest factor. Regardless, it's funny to see people bashing MX-5's and shows just how little they know about them. Nice XR4i! By the few who really know about them, those are fairly coveted over here in the states. My two cars are the same - definitely not the nicest or most powerful, but tons of fun as daily drivers and they're my babies. (and I too will likely never be able to afford much more :razz
Yeah, it's always funny to see people bashing Miata's and just goes to show how little they really know about handling and true "twisty" driving. I do respect scooby's, but as somebody else said, where they really shine and belong are off the tarmac. Of course they'll launch good in a drag , being AWD and whatnot, but true driving involves more than going in a straight line.
Well it's been awhile since I poked around at the latest GT stuff. Some good links and comments, and the game looks like it should still hold the #1 console racing sim as far as I'm concerned. (given I have no idea what was being said in the modelling video, and I'm still pulling down the other video at a mad 5.82kb/s ) I'm sure in time I'll have a PS3 and GT5, and/or maybe some of GT HD. It's a loong ways off yet here though. Till then I've got a bit of a new rig to play LFS on, and the price of the G25 is starting to come down.
Nevermind, my games all whack. It's missing all kinds of sounds, and now all of a sudden it's not recognizing the "throttle" axis on my FS FF2 stick. (though the stick has no issues outside of the game)

Ok, ammendment - have only lost some of my settings. Is there somthing wrong or are the tire sounds reallllly weak in this patch? I cranked that and turned the engine sounds down alot and the tire sounds are still nearly nonexistant. Sorry, I know that question belongs elsewhere, but it's 4:45am, lol..
Ok, I've not had the time/ability to mess with this game for some time now. I decided I'd go see if there were any new patches and there were, though the last time I patched the auto-updating system was not yet in use. Being late at night and a little braindead, I accidentally went to the "Additional Downloads" page and downloaded this: LFS_S2_DEDI_W.zip, and unzipped it into my main LFS directory. Of course after I did it, I realized this was for a dedicated host, and of course now I cannot launch my game. Can I fix my boo-boo without just doing a complete reinstall? I don't want to lose any of my game settings/info/skins etc. Thanks for any help, I can't believe I did that!
Allrightey, well I've set and searched for awhile and am obviously using the wrong words and whatnot. Anybody mind simply telling me how to load a new track layout that you've put in your layout folder? or link me to a thread that explains it. I found one thread with a link to instructions but the link seems to be dead.
I have to say that after trying the demo, I agree almost completely with the original post.. As for what I put in if I want to impress my buddies that come over, it's straight LFS baby! Of course we're more for the expierience than the glitz. They've all been as stunned as I was when I bought LFS though, (which was a mere 2 days after trying the demo, I couldn't wait any longer!). Haven't bought any games after trying any of the GT demos though, nor were my friends as engaged or impressed with them - but to each their own I guess, you play what you have the most fun with. For me it'll always be LFS I'm sure. It's the only true driving simulator out there and I don't see any competition for it arising anytime soon. There just aren't any other developers as dedicated to getting the realism over the commercialism. Somthing else we have to remember, S2 isn't complete either, while they just keep pumping out unrealistic GT games..
Well that's one sure way to lose some sales from me, heh. illepall Surely they couldn't go that route with soo many customers not online though, could they? Oh well, I don't play GT anything much anymore anyways..
