What is the maximum resolution your monitor can display? EDIT: 1360*1024 should read 1380*1024^
I've planned on some changes for the next benchmark update and this is one them. I'd like to use highest possible resolution that's still available for majority of people but I need your help to figure out what it is so vote away
Other changes that are planned are:
-Dropping demo compatibility and using different track like south city. This also makes it possible to have a larger grid.
-Setting fixed amount of AA and AF for the 'max' (maybe 4'ish, will do some research to figure out what most people can use again).
All of these will hopefully half the frames for the old video cards (like my 850XT) while not affecting the newer ones much at all as some quick testing showed.
EDIT2: Poll has served its purpose, thanks for voting.
You're right I suppose. Looking at this comparison table http://www.tomshardware.com/ch ... re,818.html?prod=on∏=on the C2D seems to be about 40-50% faster in games but not double like with LFS. However they've used much greater resolution in their gaming tests so the GPU might be more of a limiting factor there, dunno.
LFS itself has always been like that. The GPU doesn't matter much at all, however with patch Z this has changed a bit it seems. The resolution doesnt matter much at least with my system but maybe someone can confirm this? edit: Doesn't matter with AA/AF disabled but does matter quite a bit with them maxed out.
What do you mean with 'the majority of us should have 300-600 fps'?
This isn't a competition btw or at least never meant to be one. The idea is to provide some information what kind of systems do well if someone is planning on upgrading and also to give some idea for the devs how LFS performs with various systems should they need it. Therefore a result posted with a low end system is just as valuable if not more than with a high end one in my opinion.
JeffR: I believe I agree with you with the clutch not being realistic. The macro is an issue which definitely should be looked at as well. It won't be possible to get rid of them completely in my opinion but perhaps it should be less tempting to use one.
You made some good examples and explained things in detail yet the response is more or less 'go back to NFS'. Such a shame
It was true fact before balancing Now she'd need an empty server hehe
With 32 cars on the grid some settings should be tweaked a bit imo. Here's a pic shot from my point of view (last place on the grid) with full AA and AF. I've increased dynamic lod reduction to 0.7 while putting mirror lod and dust lod to the minimum. Whether you find blocky wheels ok or not is a matter of preference but 60 fps sure makes it easier to race with
Autoplus TV in serbia is going to show some LFS action tonight @ about 22:00 CET (2 hours from now). They're gonna be on the OLT Pro Racing server so be there and make a crowd
It'll be usual racing in one of the Aston configs (probably Historic) with TBO cars.
The Host can be a bit unfriendly towards new people so it might be best to try it out a bit in advance.
Yes, the insim program rotates tracks whenever the race is ended and some of the tracks in rotation have autox objects by default like barriers and bales to prevent cutting.
edit: confirmed, insim was connected at the time. (The dedi didn't crash.)
We'll consider those reverse's. Westhill and Gold Rev was only added today so no idea how they work So Classic (too many accidents in chicane) and Blackwood (done to death) were removed.
Bunch of new stuff has been added like !fuel which will tell you an estimate of the fuel consumption (seems to be pretty accurate)
I don't feel like I'm responsible for your time wasting since removing the points would have been less typing then the numerous PMs and posts made about this. I could say that you've wasted mine but as it isn't as precious as yours I won't! I don't understand what's the problem with agreeing to disagree and parting ways in a quiet manner. Don't tell me I should have added an AI
Now I got the ban anyways so I guess that would have been the easier route than to ask for the points to be removed in a pm! Not that it's a big deal but slightly amusing nevertheless
