On consultation with my pc guru friend - he advised deleting the config file and restarting LFS.
This done - LFS now ran - but on changing the AA and AF to anything higher than default- the game crashed. Result would be to delete config file again.
Rolled back drivers to 169.28 - all working fine again.
Running a 8800GTX - Ran LFS with Patch Y 14 earlier this eveing no isses - was running great on the triple head - I flicked on V Sync to run the machine comfortably with 60 frames. Every thing is running full - all siders to the right - every thing maxed (as per normal)
Saw JAks post about updating drivers and thought why not - not a problem.
Updated to drivers noted by Jak - 174.16
Went back into game - its started no probs - half way round the track of a single player game -I pressed paused and went into settings and turned off V Sync - wanted to check frame rate capabilities.
Thought ahh I am running nhancer - I set it in there - so alt-tabbed and turned of v sync in nhancer. Went back into LFS - and on alt tabbing back in - the game crashed - and now -"Cannnot initialize graphics".
Ive turned of fnhancer, and the nvidia control panel - after reseting v sync in nhancer - and this version of LFS now wont work.
I have a back up copy on another HD - so updated that to y14 - but it has no skins or settings in.
This version works - but if I go to choose any AA or AF other than the default - the game crashes. it will run ok with default.
Can anyone reproduce or similar issues?
I will leave both installations as they are (for referal purposes) - and will install another fresh version onto another HD.
34 - The wife says I must be trying to live the kids life now, I dunno - I dont feel that old but I tell ya something - my kness dont Half hurt now.....
No its not - I had had an email back, and was told to expect a phone call, just after Xmas. It was more than just a mail that said - send a C.V. it was conversational and picked up on points I had raised in my previous email.
The phone call never happened - but I did send my CV as requested.
Having been a tester before (For EA Sports) - I know that they select testers for appropriatte programs, and for specific tests.
They may require Testers for the likes of marketing evaluation, ie does this box appeal?, what does the picture say to you?, does it describe the "product" visually? Testing can comprise of pretty much anything.
Its not all gaming and testing unreleased stuff. It can be pretty hard work and frustrating stuff - working to dead lines and having to follow set routines. You also cant discuss any of the testing with anyone, other than those on the program.
Its lucky that Testology are in the UK, When with EA - I had to make confrence calls the USA every fortnight, to understand the next stage of the testing phase, and those calls were at 2 in the morning.
Depending on your interests as well, will determine the testing package that you ar recruited for.
I believe that Testology are recruiting for a portfolio of testers and even if you dont get a response now - you may in the future, so hang on and be patient.
If you can find the very first version of Analyze for speed - the track map of blackwood used - did have official names on it for Blackwood - corners, straights the works.
Its the only one that I know of where officicial names were used - But I dont know whether that was done by the Dev team or the person that created AFS.
Unfortunalty - not all of his cars are availibile - they are not all owned by Colin or his family. Some of the Fords for example. Some were totally destroyed in accidents.
In the main, as QS says - this is being organised by the Subaru community (some prominant members)- so the focus is for Subaru's but it goes with out saying - Colin was more than a Subaru driver - and anyone wishing to pay there respects and join in the day is welcome - more than.
Other runs done - we the Lands End to John O'groats convoy for the Richard Burns Foundation - over 1000 cars involved over 2 days - in convoy along motorways - got a bit scarey at points covering 3 lanes of the motoway at ridiculous speeds.
Never thos has it been done is in this way - It will be a stunnign weekend.
In the past few months since the sad passing of Colin McRae, feverish work has taken place behind the scenes to create a tribute from the Subaru community with the view of celebrating the life of a true legend. Now that official permission has been obtained from the parties concerned, McRae Estate, Jimmy and Margaret McRae and Prodrive, and approval for our plan been obtained from the relevent authorities, this is the time to release the details of what is planned.
An event taking place on the weekend of Aug 30th and 31st comprising of a convoy of Impreza's from Lanark, Colin's home town and Prodrive in Banbury. An overnight stop comprised of either camping for the hardcore or Travelodge/B & B's for the not so hardcore and a mass Subaru meeting on the Sunday at Prodrive in Banbury.
I am quiet suprised that this has not been formally announced as yet. This is a big thing for LFS, participating in this scheme. I would have thought it would be fan fares, bells and whitsles etc.
When I got LFS - It didnt have what i did now - It had Blackwood - with the rallyx track that was very diferent to what it was now.
There was no car park, skid pad, drag strip - none of them. We used ot spend time breaking out of the track and driving round the edge - searching for hidden areas.
Physics - it was developing at the time and had potential - it certianly wasnt brilliant.
I guess I liked it because it was new - fresh - and Free at the time.
Probably the first space trader "sim" out there back in the days of the Acorn Electron and BBCB, when pc's were black and white or Green and White Screens.
Elite as it is now is in development for a modern release - somewhere- but there is on going legal wrangling between the origional writers.
The WRX with out the wide arches and running about 230 bhp - is not a bad car - but as you say it hasnt got the looks of the Newage.
The STI tho - different matter, I would certainly consider trading in my Hawkeye for one. 300 BHP - 0 - 60 in 5.4 - its gonna be a fair mover and a little uner 24K - means its well cheap.
It took a long time for people to get used to the evolving look of the Newage - first the bugeye - then the blobeye.
Its poularity will hang on how well it does in the WRC. If it wins races - people will love it. With Marko Martin as the official WRC test Driver, it will cerainly get puts through its paces.
Theres many more changes in the car this year - not just the looks. New suspension set up for the rear, diferent engine config (electronic Map) and diff set up (ECCD).
I didnt like it at first - but seeing the STI changed my mind. I do like it.
Well in 2007 a lot happened in the development of LFS. A lot of hard work was put in by Many. Not just the Devs but server hosters, racers, mod designers and alike.
Id just like to raise a glass, putting all differences aside, and wish you all, a very Merry and Happy new year.
Found it while browsing the net one day - Some one had said - have you seen Live for speed- I thought they said - Need for Speed -I checked it out - loved it - even back then... Must have been at least a very early demo, maybe even pre demo. Cant remember - many mons ago (lol)
Qualifying - KY Oval. Full field (XFR, XZR, XRR) of AI on 3 minute quali. Ai started from the pit - did 2 laps - and as the 3 minutes ended - 1/2 the field failed to make a last lap, eg they didnt cross the finish line before the end of Quali - thos that had had sufficient fuel left but didnt not complete the lap they were on.
Because the clock had gone to Zero - they pitted and ended session(pulled into garage) - even though they could still have done a flying lap.
You should never slip the clutch, in any shape sense or form. Find the biting point, and pull away - any slippage should last bit a brief moment - and you under power. No need to slip at all.
