Hello. Recently LFS has started acting up on me by dropping down to extremely poor framerates on my Radeon HD3850 (down from 60-100 steady to 15 or worse). I think I've traced the problem back to enabling 8X AA as I'm not able to reproduce it with any other AA settings. Anyone else experience this problem?
The whole thing may have started after a driver update recently but I'm not sure which one as I don't play too often and only noticed just the other day. Both Catalyst 8.11 and 8.12 have the same problem though.
Setup:
Q6600 @ 3GHz
Radeon HD3850 256MB with Catalyst 8.12
4GB RAM
Vista 64
Oh well. These things happen. The features of the VW sound exciting though. Looking very much forward to giving it a whirl when you get it figured out.
Also, given the response this thread has gotten, are any of the people pushing for developer blogs, TODO lists and all that nonsense still confused as to why it's not happening?
If you're standing a place where a rally car is likely to hit you, it's probably just as well you leave the gene-pool. That's why it's crucial to the very survival of mankind that we bring back Group B and leave the idiots to pile up along the stages like they used to.
Yes because the only way you can get excitement in racing is by having 20 monkeys, on a paved circuit, all trying to occupy the same point in space. Maybe you should let the FIA know so they don't waste any more money on this rallying malarkey?
I'm well aware of what the changelog said, thank you. What about that made you think projected shadows suddenly wouldn't work like projected shadows anymore?
And? This isn't a bug, it's a side effect of the shadowing technique used in LFS. It's not visible when racing, so I don't see why it's worth spending time on?
That can't be a coincidence, can it? Probably a driver bug I'd say, but of course the viewer could be doing something wrong that only manifests itself on these cards.
While I agree with your overall point in principle (first thing for everything) and I like the idealism of it all, I think we're quickly reaching a point with these huge corporations where it's completely unrealistic for "brave entrepreneurs" to just step in and fill the hole left when one of them implodes (if allowed to). The required investment to start a competitive business as a car maker these days would be astronomical. And even if you by some miracle managed to get off the ground, reach customers, sell cars and make some money, you'd probably be gobbled up by one of the remaining big ones before you end up posing too much of a threat to them.
To me it's much more likely that for each competitor going away, that's simply one less competitor in the market until we're left with one or two companies ruling all. We're already pretty damn close to that situation in the car world, and other industries show similar problems. The "system" just isn't working. Well, it's not working in the interest of the consumer anyway.
Yeeeah, that's a strawman. Kev is over there. *points*
Maybe he thinks (and I'm speculating here) that the armed forces should be used for defence only? What our countries are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan these days isn't defence by any stretch of the mind and anyone willing to risk his or her life to pariticipate in that cluster**** is, in fact, "a thick shit". Keep in mind that this does not include yourself unless you served within the last few years.
I, like Kev, probably wouldn't tell a trained soldier that to his face but that doesn't change my feelings on the matter. Just means I value my currently full set of teeth.
That's not an exclusively British trait, trust me. I've all but given up even engaging in a discussion with the low-brow mouth-breathers supposed to be my fellow countrymen... which is why I'm here, ironically.
So what? Go take your own stock photos using only white males then. If they're any good I promise to use a couple of them instead of these horrible PC photos.
You're blowing this "problem" so completely out of proportion it's not even funny. In my daily life I encounter loads more people like you, complaining about how they're being forced to be politically correct, than I see actual people wanting me to be more politically correct. In fact I don't think anyone's ever complained about my, or anyone I know's, political correctness.
That's obviously just anecdotal evidence based on my personal experience, but I have a sneaking suspicion you've had a similar experience since you have repeatedly evaded requests for actual proof of this happening. Photos like that prove exactly jack shit.

My thoughts exactly. All they've succeeded in proving here is that stock photographers like to photograph groups of people with varying race. In my experience they also like pretty girls talking in mobile phones, and men in suits with briefcases.
Then perhaps post like you're older than 8 next time. When you go on a page-long whine because the interiors changed instead of asking politely, that's what you get.
Then maybe if you'd phrased your post like an actual question instead of making absolute statements like "No, PHP is really the only well documented Language out there" and "All of the other langues really lack this", you'd have gotten better replies.
I doubt anyone would have jumped on you if you instead said "Personally I find the php.net documentation to be excellent. Is there something similar for other languages?". See the difference?
...and a hillclimb track, and a hillclimb car, and an F1 car... oh.
This has to be the most scatterbrained project I've ever had the misfortune of putting money into. I know we "normal" customers aren't his main source of income but for the love of **** could he just once, ONCE, finish what he's working on before jumping onto the next thing? How long will this delay the infamous patch then?
We have this newfangled thing called Google these days. If you're going to make a ridiculous statement like the one you made I'd expect you to at least give it a whirl first. It's not like it's bloody difficult to find.
