CRAZY racing. A FULL field in Race 2 and one race I was in the entire field bar a few finished on the leading lap. Great fun, just wish we had the same on the GT server
88% ish people use one monitor and 70%+ people use the keys to check left and right when racing.
Anyone else find this surprising? In the past few months i've had some amazing races on SS1 where the entire field of 20 cars can do the first lap with few crashes. Although in general there are still a lot of T1 crashes, i'm still very surprised at the quality of driving with people using just one monitor and quick looks left and right on the keys.
I wonder if there are people who drive from the external view behind the car, surely not. Or am I just over reacting and its not such a big deal to drive cleanly with just the one view and checking left and right and the mirrors.
Aoun, i'm totally with you here. I also find there are some drivers with high ranking licenses that are just plain rude and unfriendly. Some mind you, nearly all of the high ranked drivers i've met on servers are very friendly and mature.
Oddly I also find BnJ to be the worst for insults, I actually had one guy threaten to kill me if I made contact with his car again... what part of bump and jump doesn't he understand?
I used to get into arguements now I just realise what a waste of energy it is. However I do get frustrated when someone knocks you out or causes an incident without a single response, no recognition, nothing. Even worse when they have a lot of points and therefore understand the CTRA system. Yet these days a simple report is filed which removes my frustration because I can let someone else decide how to communicate to that driver.
I'd love to have a look at iRacing, but I just don't have time these days. With a new born son and the travel in my work, even getting on CTRA is hard work.
Just keeping you on ya toes! See how diligent I am! Imagine what amazing feedback and help you would get from me if I could assist with testing of the X2 system.... ooooooooh how rude of me, but YES! Go on... lemme have a play and i'll be a good little beta tester....

Following on from the "How many monitors do you use?" poll. I'm curious how people are able to see how close they are to other cars when racing.
I've been using TrackIR (www.trackir.com) for ages and find it very useful to quickly check the sides of the car when racing. Most useful it is in turn one when people tend to dive on my inside I can try and move to keep it clean.
So from a previous poll, 90%+ of people use one monitor, so I was wondering what the popular method of driving is?
I think we are missing the point a little here and getting over zealous with the "in the good ole days we didn't care for points! We are just here for fun alone!" responses
Of course! And the skills learned as you progress allow you access to different servers which requires certain skills. I wonder, if everyone was suddenly stripped of their points and all the servers opened up, would there be complaints? The fun surely would be affected
If the CTRA is soley for run and pick up games then why have licenses? Sure, being a points whore can feel like it gets a bit too serious when people are driving on a server on their own soley to gain a license increase. But the stages in license exist and therefore there is nothing wrong with having fun AND making progress in the system
My initial post isn't a moan, complaint or a winge, I was simply wondering if the stage of Gold license had any advantages because a quick look through the website didn't reveal any.
So anyway, I don't think there is anything at all wrong with a feeling of satisfaction in gaining a license stage. It's a milestone which says... "Well done mate, you worked hard for that and here's a little chocolate bar as a reward."
I just couldn't see where the gold chocolate bars were. I haven't even MADE gold license yet! I was just curious...
I'm not obsessed by the license progress, but it exists for a reason and when you get another stage in the license process, some little reward is nice. Also I have actually improved a HUGE amount going from Silver to (nearly) Gold. So I would argue that maybe the GT2 cars are not worthy until Gold status? I'm sure that would upset a huge amount of people though, actually, me included
p.s. I also corrected your grammar and spelling mistakes...
I'm on my way to getting my gold license and was thinking what new things I could do when I get it. However reviewing the servers and license requirements, it seems that getting Gold doesn't open any more features or racing in CTRA. Am I missing something? Or is Gold just another milestone and Platinum being the next license which would then allow me to race GT cars on Race 3?
I've competed in real drift championships for a few years and I can tell you now that drifters know a heck of a lot about suspension setup, infact more so than engine tuning. Ask any mature/professional drifter and he'll know by heart the geometery of his car and what tyre pressure's he'll use for different track conditions.
With respects to the power reference, yes a lot of drift cars have large power outputs. But when you are trying to unstick a set of 285 tyres at 120mph in an instant, it helps to have some power on tap. A drift engine actually isn't just about power, it's about delivery. A big turbo engine which shoves 800hp in a very short powerband, with huge lag and poor balance is not the goal. Most drift engine's i've seen built have been a good balance of power, response and reliability.
I should also add my comments on topic
I think something which balances fuel and engine is a good idea. I like the idea of a boost button which can be used, this made for some amazing races in F1 with people trying to figure out fuel versus use of boost. Or even having a selection of two engines, one with better low down torque and one with better top end hp, this could be implemented in a way which would allow a car like the FBM to be balanced for different types of circuit based on engine selection.
A new team has recently been created in LFS World and i've been made a member. I want to reflect this in the CTRA system however when I look through the drop down list of teams in CTRA our new team is not listed. The team has been in LFS World for at least 2/3 days now, any idea how often these teams are migrated over?
I'm working on getting to Int A, the problem is the FJR/F08. I just can't stand racing this car with the bugs in shifting. So this makes it all the harder to get to the BF1. I'm only racing FJR/F08 to get to BF1.
