Just checked the main account page and it looks like i still have £5 credit from 2007, i can remember thinking that would come in handy for the s3 upgrade :/

Wow, it has been so long since i posted in the LFS forums, just checking in to see if i have missed anything since i was last here, it would appear not

Played some of that new F1 game today on my xbox, got me thinking about the BF1 and my PC/Steering wheel setup.

Figured i would have something new to use in LFS after all this time :o

Had a mate ask me today about LFS, i had not even bothered to install it on my new rig, i last played it properly around the time the Scirroco was first announced?

So i installs it, oooo i cant wait to see what new goodies i have.

Stuff i have noticed

FXR seams to have lost its race interior (or was that a skin mod i had installed?)
FXR seams to have new shift up lights
The tyres look different on the car

The rest looks the same to me, i assume you lot are complaining about no new content for a while lol.

Damn i couldn't remember how to setup the DFP wheel how i liked, all my setups gone download one of the teams setups for aston nat and away i go,

I was actually really surprised at how "old" the game looked, yeah its nice having 400 fps?!?! but i would trade a few spare for some better graphics, last time i was playing this game properly i remember the new car interiors were postponed for some reason, if they have not be released yet? wont they need even more "updating" nowadays, considering just how beefy most peoples PC`s are these days?

So will this current band-aid of a patch help drum up some decent racers ?

What are your thoughts on the intermediate patch subject?
I was playing Forza 3 the other night and one of the drivers was so respectful and smooth, giving each other just enough room to race fast, but no crazy banzai stuff, i had a chat with him and he turned out to be ex PC sim racer who had gotten bored with R Factor and wanted something newer, we had a chat about PC`s Sim racing and LFS.

His words

" that bloke who codes Live for Speed is like a genius, but i cant believe he does not want extra people helping out to speed up the development"

He also said that the "oldskool" pc sims had become stale and had been left behind by newer products.

The next race i had was full of bumper cars LOL

So basically what you are confirming, is that the game is treading water, instead of swimming further upstream

LFS has become stale.


I first played the demo at around the S1 phase


It is almost a grind to race around the same old tracks, with the same old graphics, in the same old cars, doing the same old laptimes as you have raced them all a million times before.


It needs massively revamped IMO

I believe it is the best SIM going, but sitting on laurels only leads to demise.

I had more fun completing NFS shift recently then i have had playing LFS in the past year, because it was something new, something fresh.

I have my copy of Shift here in the office at work, and will be trading it in against Forza3, and i suspect the hour or so i will be playing it later on, will be a right blast.

I could always fire up LFS, race the same old blahh blahh blahh

My mate used to be the "underground bloke" who actually organised all the NECO cruises a good few years ago around the northeast

before all the clowns came in the £500 shitboxes and starting doing "stuntz" and "wheeliez"

5 ai drivers, took a fxr for a spin, after 5 laps i had blown both front tyres, pulled into the pits, refueled, message said tyres had been swapped, drove away with 2 front flat tyres!

came back into the pits

"tyres swapped"

after spending a few days at elvington air strip dragracing a few years back i did manage to get my imprezas clutch to slip

after 35 runs in a day (full blown 5k+ drag starts on grippy concrete)

it took about 5 mins and a easy run to sort it out and it was back to normal.
i have approx 280lbft available from 4300rpm

i normally drive with the tyre temps on display but the right hand side is missing unless i move the mouse pointer ??

also the laptimes etc etc

it seams like the menus are biased towards the right monitor and are to far off to the right.

tried pressing m and changing the config file, i can drive fine, just can see the cars right hand data (which is needed!)

so is this actually driveable?

cd2 last night was actually clean IMO

although in my first race i was sent flying in T1, the rest of my races were clean and fun, no stress involved, apart from the girlfriend pestering me and asking me stupid questions

i have not used it since 1 race about halfway through the last season and last night after about 20/30 laps i started finding the old lines, i also started getting close to my old PB time

i kept the old XRR setup i had but started playing about with the weight restriction and found 40% was easier to drive

what sort of laps are we talking about per race??

i paid for the high res downloads, i cant use them, infact i now have to turn on compressed skins and such when i have never done this before

i always got stutter aproaching the chicaine at aston for some reason

i have to say, the fps never dropped that much with the extra cars, but i did get the "pause" thing and the FPS would drop right down for a half second or so before coming back to normal ?

i tried to like the new patch X but found the game more stressfull as a result, starting from the back was a complete nightmare IMO, once you were out the front and to quote lewis hamilton "away from the monkeys" it was still fun, but the starts were a bit of a pain.

i once sat right at the back of the grid and just took it easy and saw the king of all pileups happen right infront of me with people swerving around others and hitting each other

this seams to happen far to much with the "people at the back"

also had massive problems with picking a pit entry due to the large amount of traffic and "newbies" joining midrace/blue flag mayhem.

best way i could think of was to stay out for as long as possible and hope nobody new joins mid race


should be good to start racing the usual decent racers again

i found it crazy hard to do some of the tests in 900 degree mode
especially as i run all the wheel settings on full, so its quite hard to turn the wheel fast.

i was yanking the wheel all over the place and getting next to no movement lol!!

cracking game, although i installed some new cars and then relised i prefered the bumper cam view so i never see them except in replays .

switched the DFP from 900 degrees to 200 degrees and found it much easier
