as my point says, it gets weeded out as it goes through the community, you don't need to hire a guy to "cavity check" the mods. the community would praise or put down, and please don't tell me "it's to much for the community to handle" if you do i have only one thing to say to you...

Your all for a coat and no trousers, you are.

Quote from nihil :Only because there is little chance to actually make a comparison. It would be very interesting to see a 67 lotus modelled in LFS, but then again if the Cortina mod ever comes out it will be a test for me to see if LFS still holds my interest.

well it sounded like one of those "vets of lfs" someone mentioned earlier, who would threaten to quit if modding was introduced to this game. people play the game for it's physics engine not the graphics. the selection of cars has to be improved A LOT. and by a lot, i mean at least a scene. I know that that's asking a lot but look at GTA, i thought those models are of good quality, but there is a sea of crap floating around. the crap is inevitable, don't pull that ever again for an excuse, because crap is what you get when you give the dev jobs to the public, but the pay off is teamwork which makes it a lot faster, the original devs made an awsome engine for the physics, and we are all playing this game for realism of the dynamic modeling. they gave us suspension tuning, now, allow us to do engine and bodywork! just have it be like real events where you are restricted by boundaries, not have a 20 some car to choose from and have a boundless server.

i don't think that lfs support tires going flat... so this would be kinda pointless

Seems nice, I would love to join you guys! but... i don't think there are windy enough roads on lfs that qualify to be called a touge.

Quote from tristancliffe :Apart from the fact that Live (Liv) makes perfect sense whilst Live (Lyv) is total nonsense. That is why your language skills were questioned - yours wasn't a reasonable question. It can't be either.

it could be that the game is live(online) for(the purpouse of) speed.

jesus! your just like Pop in "The Adventures of Huck Finn" you wouldn't want to play lfs if a Cortina mod came out, he wouldn't vote ever again after he found out a black man was voting... You know, you can just CHOOSE not to use the mod and pick the cars you LIKE... That's what mods are for; To replace stuff you don't like.

and mods do work out! it's not like we are pioneering into the deep unknown and modding is new to the world of gaming, Com'on! it's a fickin usability issue. stop arguing about whether mods should be allowed, you guys seem to just be picking out lame freak circumstances, while it's a good thing overall, and i think the idea of having 1 or 2 acceptable mods in a sea of crap is okey with me, if you aren't used to it, i'm sorry, it seems like you were too spoiled by things handed to you! it's already great that people would even share, and you would even have the balls to complain? and people who complain about it not totally satisfied with certain tracks and bitch about the angles and grade of certain areas can go drink a bottle of bleach and hang themselves. Because they would be the world's biggest tools I have ever known.

i'm fine with not being able to mod it, but i just wanted to ask a question about modding, it just seems kinda fishy that people aren't trying to break open a game where the directory is in OBLIVIOUS folders, i on the other hand have never tried it, i might as well start now.

Quote from kamkorPL :O Really? I so wish it was just stock cars - I could easily compete then by just buying stock bmw and welding a diff, but it is absolutelly NOT. They are not stock and do not have to be street legal to compete(Depends on series, for example they have to be Street Legal in D1SL, but that's an exception).

actually... you can compete with a stock bmw and make it big time if you are really good, just need to stiffen the suspension to counter the rolling. i think Ken Gushi and Alex Pfeiffer qualifies as rookies with stock cars... but, you don't need hp to win, you can drift with stock cars. Alex once took on a viper in an ancient corolla and nearly won...
Quote :Alex Pfeiffer. Alex Pfeiffer almost took out Sam Hubinette in the first round of qualifying by making going not once but twice in tandem formation. Alex not only kept speed with the the Viper but took every opportunity to pass or nudge Sam out of the corners. Hubinette even got out of his car and excitingly told Alex how much he was pushing his car. I don't think anyone went away with a voice after this great battle. Many wished they would have met in latter rounds. This duo was too close to call, but the judges gave Sam the victory by the narrowest of margins. It is easily said that AF was definitely a crowd favorite.

yes, as i said, there are people that have SPONSORS behind them and have nice cars( i just had no idea that they would have nitrous... TURBOS ALL THE WAY!). And drifting is not about the car, it's about the driver. you can beat a pro in a miata can beat a rookie in a super racer at drifting. and you can tune the suspension in the garage, and as i said, it would be a waste of the dev's time if they actually where to take opinion from this thread and build a drift spec car, which whould be the XRT or the GT with engine boost and a new suspension setup, a little more max lock and that would be it. you can do the engine boosting with LFSTweak

ok, i think that the first few posts covered it... it's "we all live for speed" not "it's a live racing experience online" just trying to clear that up, and i have no idea why people would think i have problem with my English... It's the same word that could be used in different contexts and be pernounced differently accordingly. and there is no context clues in the name phrase:"live for speed" it can be either.

some of you guys should stop being immature and rude

AAAAAAH! i started using the XBCD package from this guy and it worked well, i can now control the throttle and brake separately, but now i am having problems with the right analog stick, it works in tests and the control configuration with live for speed but now i can't seem to use the clutch!!! now i am restricted to auto tranny

and the game seems to read everything as appropriate for a rumble, from clutching to turning to even shifting and accelerating. My hand got kinda numb so i eventually turned rumble off altogether

Quote from duke_toaster :Because if China have made a good car, I haven't heard of it (and the small matter of licences), and if China has a good track, I haven't heard of it (also licencing, and I don't want a tilkedrome in LFS.

if we have free moding we will not have to bother with loyaties and licences!!!

no mod needs to be "official".

so along with the ability to fully mod stuff, you just set limits to how much hp a car joining the race can attain, and how big his engine is ect, ect. and you can use the "stock cars" in the lfs garage if you want an even ground. it's a community, people are going to rate and recommend or degrade stuff, it may go slow at first, but it's a good tradeoff to have even more cars. besides, only the fittest survives? right? a mod goes through a community, some get recommended, some just dissapear, just like evolution, you kill off all those crap mods, you WILL get good ones.

It should allow Free mods, then we can get real stuff without the devs paying loyalties, and in turn, us paying for the cost

sooo... crap mods, that's it?

yes the dev wants the game to be as real as possible. but then again, there is LFSTweak, isn't there the potential of rediculous cars with that tool???

no, don't think you understand, you can play around with the suspension and "wield" the lsd(IE: 100% locking) to make it easier to supply powers to rear wheels since you are slipping. most drift cars ARE stock cars, there are certain cars that need the lock extension and modifyed steering rack because their turning circle is just crap... but i think that max lock values should be adjustable in the garage anyways. the really good ones are supplied with better safety equipment, forced induction(use lfstweak) and have the ability to modify ff's and awd's to fr's that's it.

Drift cars are all stock cars and are required to be street legal to compete.

Drifting is a very low budget autosport invented by INDIVIDUALS. there is nothing sophistocated about drifting... you can get turbos from LFSTweak and suspension tuning in the garage. Drift cars are just stock cars plastered with crappy Krylon paint and held together with zipties, you can skin for that. you don't need to be lazy and have the devs provide you with a special suspension setup. MOVE YOUR MOUSE!

admit it, you are not playing LFS because of the AMAZINGLY SEXY CARZ! this game is good for it's physics. it's amazing, and i think that the devs would be making money on the great engine of this game.

There is practically no cons... besides hassle, the community did stuff with gta, infact, no, not just stuff, there are a lot of full conversions floating around. I think that, the mods would not at all hurt the sales of LFS.

i said no because it would be a big waste of the developer's times to just do little tweeks... while you can get a tuning trainer to tweek the engine and the weight distibution... and there is suspension tuning in the garage... so why should there be a "drift car"??? it's very pointless.

and to you people who are preduds against drifting, what's Your problem?!?!?! it's like figure skating, we all KNOW it's not racing, it's a car control show off! you guys are immature if you are calling drifters ricers, but this guy is really pushing it on a 0-t001 scale

it could be a garage tool option to be able to adjust the steering rack.

and i agree that drifting is not a sport of speed, it is not racing, it's like figure skating to speed skating, i personally love drifting, but i also love rally and mountain pass road racing. there is nothing wrong with drifting exept that it should not be called racing... drifters like physically realistic simulators like LFS because you need realism to properly learn about car dynamics, which is what this sim teaches you.(I hope)

her-whoops, nevermind... i thought that the programmer files where the source codes...

Hm.... it's kinda stupid that people would go through all that trouble to get a file opener for the directory and be able to mod it but never bother to share it... yes, i am just saying this because i don't have the skills to do this my self but, at the same time, why not make it so that yo ucan openly mod this game? you hear requests for real cars and real tracks all the time, one simple act of releasing the directory viewer and a "translator" for the model and skin files into the public and, you would get tons of new cars, and new tracks, even Laguna seca, Nurburg, and maybe even the top gear test track (copied from google earth)...

the video is awsome, but about the episode, i hate it how jeremy can't even explain anti-lag, or he is just too lazy to explain that. (i guess it's because you need to explain what a turbocharger is first)

it's engineered to brake the laws of physics and thump God himself on the head! the suspension does a good job, but the electronics reenforce that, and make it literally "idiot-proof to drive" according to Jason Dawe on top gear!

But... apparently, the idiot in him turned off that idiot proof mechanism
