Nice physics... but....
what about the fact that there are no real tracks or cars...?

and i thought that you CAN learn to drive throught lfs, where the physics are engrossingly real

I'll buy LFS when i get the money, but i spent it on my controller...

but has anyone try to hack or degenerate the game? the source code is on the main website...

and i assume that the car directory is in the data folder and it's easily readable without heavy encryption, other wise the game would lag a whole ton...

If i developed the game, i would make this aspect easily modable, and then when people come out with replicas of real cars and track, the respective owners of the cars and tracks can't sue me for making their car/track without their permission!
how is lfs pronounced???

just out of curiousity, how is live for speed pronounced?

L-AYE-VEH for speed- as in a refrence to it's online cabability
-or-
LH-II-VE for speed- as in a passion for racing

because when i talk to my friends verbally, i just say "EL-EF-ES"

man... it's such a pitty, it was such a sexy car... but crashes are innevitable, i just wondered why would they race a super car on the streets, if you can afford a supercar, you can afford to use the tracks
Is modifying the models for this game possible?

I am just wondering or is it just so difficult noone's ever bothered with this. because it seems like you can skin your cars, so why are you not able to modify the models?

that would be totally awsome! next thing you know, there would professional matches like CS or StarCraft!

you see, did you see the top gear 10X10 episode where they went to spain, now that would be a dream vacation to be at that track... but what you are doing is fun never the less, to be at a track where you can drive all you want is fun.

but drifting is not just blatently throwing traction away, it is desrcibed by Tiff Needle(ex-F1 driver and show host) to be the ultamate way to show off your car control skills. To learn how to drift, you need to learn the basis of driving anyways, or else you would just spinout till kingdom come.

rain would be good, and challanging, but the problem is that rain would make for massive lag, maybe just have a map where the tracks are moist... call it Seattle-Sunny Day...

dunno if you get the joke, cuz it's always rainy here

if you guys are talking about a car that is specifically used for the sport of drifting... there are already plenty of cars for that purpose in LFS, the XRT and the GT for example, they are both rwd and PERFECT for drifting, and there is a suspension mod tool in the garage. if you are talking about the look, why not just slap a skin on your car. complete with sponsor stickers and such. and i think you don't even need a sports car, people love the corolla for it's simplicity; it's lightweight and FR period.

In my opinion, all the XRT needs is a red RED SUNS decal on the back left fender

Quote from [UKR] Race King :you are wrong because drift is a new style of racing and not long time has past since its discovered and it becomes much more popular year after year

drifting [the sport] is not racing style, it's a showoff, i am a big fan of [showoff] drifting, and it(the manuver) could be used to slow down the vehicle if it's going too fast, it could be to setup a better angle for a corner exit, and it could be used to keep your engine rev up while slowing down entering a corner

and yes, drifting is not dying, it's getting to be like drag racing in California. But i think this thread was kinda stupid, a DRIFT SPEC car?!?! and to TURN OFF drift? how would you do that in reality?? wouldn't that make racing EASIER if you can't loose traction?? then it would be the compitition of "who's engine is the best?"... that would suck major balls

I only have LFS which i CAN play daily, but why would you have [Colin McRae, Driver, Forza, and NFS] on the polls when CLEARLY Grand Turismo is a much better then all of them combined... because those are all arcade games.

Grand Turismo may be crap, but it's at the least better then those games i listed, i do not own GT, but i play it when i hang out at my brother's house. I like lfs much better for the physics. I only play LFS regularly.

I am looking forward to GT5, the prologue is pretty sweet~~~

hmmm... i would love....
the nissan gtr r32-35(kinda would be cheating)
the ford RS cosworth focus
noble m12 GTO

but mainly, have a full on tuning system and have the models modable(so we can make production cars annonymously and not be sued for copyright or loyalties).
^but there is the concern for cheating in races and cheating for hotlaps

but you can fix that with compitition rules... as in engine size and boost value and whatnot, just like in real sanctioned events!

i don't know, but i think i am satisfied with the current selection of "stock cars" If they have a "tuning tool" ppl would start making all those production cars in a week or so.

Hi everyone, i am new here, and new to simulators. i have played some driving games but apperently this is the most physically realistic game out there (exept for the barrier physics and damage model). I heard of this game in driftcentral when disscussing simulators that would actually teach you something about physics.

I am a 16 yr old asian american, and i started to get interested in motorsports when i saw some option videos. I am a big fan of asphault rally and touge(i don't want to type mountain pass racing). note: i am also a big fan of AWD compacts

I got myself an xbox controller because i can't do smooth inputs on the keyboard.... i got XBCD 360(saw it in the forums here) and it works perfectly! I love the game, unfortunatly, i can't really buy a licence since i got a controller instead with the money

Looking forward for my stay here!

Yes! that would be awsome! if they would add a course modeled after touge roads! and also a map of pike peak and nurburg (someone should be able to steal something from Grand turismo right?)
