Quote from ColeusRattus :Being a teenager is a bad excuse for stupidity...

^sigh... i am being sarcastic...

but keiichi has done street racing... and so i thought i can do underground before going pro... or at least in sanctioned events... there have been people who have gotten hurt on our roads but they are just being stupid. like during home coming last year... some dusch took his date to go drifting in his land rover... and flipped over the ledge, noone died but he suffered a broken arm and 2 broken ribs. his date got a few scratches, that's it.

well, i only introduced the gt5 thingy because of the rumors i heard and the acclamations by my friend who actually has it on his ps3. after he tried LFS, he calls it "tail happy and GTA-ish with some gimmicks such as suspension damage and clutch".

I just want to be clear that i just wanted to make sure that LFS is the best... but i am still testing RBR and NetKarPro along with a bunch of different sims...

If skepticism, curiosity and refusing to accept LFS right away is stupidity, then yes i am stupid in that aspect.

and yes, in retrospect, it is reckless to race in the snow on "touge"-like roads. even if i had AWD, but... no, i am a teen and i believe that i am immortal. unless: someone shoots me, or someone stabs me, or if someone hacks me up like in the beginning of scarface...yadda, yadda, yadda...

edit:
Quote from ColeusRattus :You know what we call those Bullbars here? Kid-Killers. Unless you plan on herding cattle around by bumping into it, do not install this kind of, excuse the pun, bullshit on your car. With it you pose a very lethal threat to pedestrians and especially kids when doing 20 miles per hour.

And it doesn't make your car more safe in case of unforseen accidents with wildlife. Just to demonstrate my point, i'd like to show you what my car looked like after hitting a doe at 80 kph (it came up an embankment literally in front of my car, I had no time to react, or brake, so I hit it with full force):

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/8349/faceex5.jpg

As you see, the damage to the front, where a bull bar would have protected the front of my car, is minor. The damage where it hit after it became airborne is not though.
Additionally, if I'd hit the doe head on, and not with my light at first, my bonnet and front would have crumpled, thus it had absorbed more energy and wouldn't have launched the doe into the air.

So a bull bar only offers protection of your car front at low speeds, where you'd not get hurt anyway, BUT it poses a great threat for pedestrians and actually makes your car at high speeds less safe.

And I'd also like to add that any jerk who mistakes the public roads for a racingtrack should have his driving license revoked for lifetime. (don't get me wrong, I don't mean an occasional disregard of speedlimits by 10 or 20 kph)
And racing at night, where your visibility is hampered as are your concentration and reaction due to fatigue, is no less stupid.

^damn... yes, what about rallying where anything can happen to you or your car? and by the looks of it, spectators too

i just think that they should include a simple skid plate under body on appropriate cars. but there should be suspension and parts visible around the skidplates...

if they can't add skid plates appropriately then yes, add the detailed bottom with suspension and drive train and such. standard for each car and if you won't be able to mod the cars then you shouldn't allow modding of the underbelly

Quote from Stang70Fastback :Unfortunately, there is nothing you can say now, after that statement, that will make me believe you are even mildly intelligent. I have an AWD Subaru, and even I don't dare race on public roads in the winter. That's just... stupid.

oh, no racing with the awd is safer then what i have done,
ES300
-and-
old FR Celica i picked up

i raced those both in snow...

oh, BTW, i think i am planning to do junior WRC during junior year of college!!!

Quote from Stang70Fastback :Dogs, cats, small furry rodents, deer, raccoons, squirrels, garbage cans blowing in the wind, tree branches, potholes, ice patches...

...see where I'm going with this?

It's called a bull bar on the front of my modded foreign compact car.

jk, it's actually very much stock, but i want to install a bull bar in front... like the cowcatchers on trains. and i can get past ice patches okey, just a month ago i raced someone in the snow, uphill AND downhill sections...

but @ doc, it is banned, but our team here is pretty good, the pigs are not as fast as us through corners, they don't have the teenage sense of immortality to bomb through corners...

...then again it's REALLY stupid that i am bragging about this online to defend my self...

well i just started because of it's popularity here... people race the roads here... the road is one lane, one road, and has an uphill and down hill section. so no chance of headon collision. and WHO THE HELL WALKS on MOUNTAIN ROADS at the dead of night?!?! if it's a hobo, it's okay, the dents will buff out....

Quote from Stang70Fastback :Well, actually - you have a good point there. You never know what kinds of pranksters live around there and have seen you doing those high-speed night runs. I remember my dad told me once he was riding his motorcycle at night on a road he DIDN'T know, and next thing he knew someone had put one of those concrete blocks that are normally in parking spaces across the road. He hit it, went airborne and landed under the motorcycle and slid like 200 feet. He says if it wasn't for his leather jacket he'd probably be dead. Had the bone sticking out of his elbow though. The people probably thought it'd be funny if a car hit it (to whatever extent funny is when you destroy your front axle and the airbags deploy) but likely didn't consider what'd happen if a motorcycle came by. Yet another reason why to not race on public roads.

Oh, and just to clear this up now, no he wasn't SPEEDING. He was going under the speed limit but he came around a bend and couldn't do anything about it.

^damn, that's sick... that really sucks

i actually like the studio format better then the original top gear style(which fifth gear now adopts)... but i watch fifth gear when i want to watch a review of a car that top gear didn't do... like the new impreza!

i quote from the impreza review...

Quote from BigTime :You know I was driving around in our new MOE skin the other day and I ended up rolling the car. When I saw the car sitting on track I thought to my self, this would look great if the bottom of the car had detail. With nothing but a black texture for the bottom of the car it seems hard to showcase any roll over without seeing that, whats the word... Nothingness.

I was thinking it would be great to have a separate skin file that would allow us to edit the undercarriage of each car. I know it's something your not going to see all the time, unless you race on a banger server, but it's a missing link in the chain that seems to me, could be an easy fix.

well just pretend that you have a skid plate fitted underneith the car just like a rally car!

acutally, auto shift is not auto tranny, real autos "shift" by torque converter.

LFS gives you the option of "auto-shifting semi-auto" "auto-clutch semi auto" "full auto with padel shifters" or "full maual(if yo uhave a good wheel)"

but the thing is, none of the auto-clutching settings restrict you by disabling shifting or clutching, you CAN use the clutch or shifter anytime you want.

Quote from The General Lee :Duh! teh RB4!

This is a great video also! 9 minutes of Raw Audi Quattro sounds!

that's more like a 4wd sportscar like the celica gt4

a proper rally car is a compact hatch or family saloon transformed into a complete monster.

were-car FTW

Meh, people who race amonst heavy traffic are retards. not as an offense or anything, but just because they totally neglect that they can get run over or smacked and rammed off the road by oncomming cars that most likely is bigger then them.

I do street racing but that's only because i have no money for the track and there is a long and mountinous road right outside my driveway, and there are no traffic whatsoever at 2 am. and i have been doing this long since before i got my license

Yes, i loved that top gear episode with the "small german cars", 10X10 i think.

Ascari would be a good choice since, if you are going to have only ONE real track why not have the best of a whole ton of tracks sewn together?

but i guess we can also make our own version of Ascari with as many features we can think of, and what about getting the top gear test track for the car park?

Quote from Fischfix :thats good for me! you know why? now i know, i will never be on the same track like you for racing purpose (one noob less to think about...). btw. why are you here as a "Demo User"? do you have a "real account" or are you banned already with that one?

i'm cheap

Quote from UncleBenny :It is pointless to argue about oval racing because people are idiots and they are going to keep on thinking the same dumb things they always do no matter how many valid points you bring up. Look at atlantian.

"NASCAR is not about Aero"

That right there proves that he knows absoultely nothing about stock car racing and isn't even worth the time it takes to type a post telling him why he's wrong.

it is not, aero is prevalent in ALL auto racing sport. if it is then nascar is more embarrassingly simple then i thought because that would be just stripping everything out and looking at a skeleton of a race. which would and is god awfully BORING
