Quote from tristancliffe :If, one day, LFS has the most advanced aerodynamic solutions in a driving sim, I don't want it to become a flight-sim.

Just because LFS can be drifted or driven slowly doesn't mean it should become a drift/granny sim. It's a race sim, and I think it's best left as a race sim by the devs.

I don't think LFS needs to be classified as a sim for any specific driving application. if it has super realism, it can be used to PRACTICE for anything from drag racing, racing, rallying, drifting, and other stunt driving. there is no need to stick with anything, if it simulates a real car, it can be used for anything

and ok, i am gullible so what? it's a reasonable excuse, besides, why would you want damage? besides a totally real damage system.
the reason that people chose to play sims instead of driving is because they don't want to wreck cars but they want to practice driving.(<-that might be a small population, but other people don't count, i have been driving real cars since 12; as ice T says:"**** the police")

Quote from Matt0snap :PC is way better for SIMS. but obviously the PS3 is better for arcade games and many others... Even GT5 isn't that sim like, no damage, the cars feel heavy sum what like the FXR...

So PC for sims... And PS3 for arcade and any other games.

actually, polyphony doesn't WANT damage yet. I quote:
"we are not going to add damage to our games until we can do it in a way that is totally authentic"

They actually don't want half assed damage systems like other games

and @ tweeker, WTF, xbox has the WORST of the worst in racing and driving. it's so heavy and grippy, so arcadish, only thing forza cares about is what graphics you can have on your car.

and @hrt and DWB, the topics on the "new" section is not very interesting, that's why i post in old threads and start new ones.

HEY! since when is blocking someone and giving them a hard time to pass illigal?!?!?

I always swerve and make passing impossible for people and i force people to slow down ALL THE TIME.
and when i follow people i try to freak them out by following a line that is right next to them while tailgating.

this is totally legit.

ps3 has and 8 core processor and polyphony made gt5 tailored to use all of that power to it's advantage.

pc's can be upgraded till kingdom come, but have low standards.
but PS3's are very powerful at stock, but can't be modded

that means, if LFS made Godly graphics and features, it would loose many followers simply because of the inability to play the game
What is better for sims? PC or PS3

I dont know about the gtr but an example of a grippy suspension is an unequal double wishbone suspension, where the suspension adjusts the camber as deflection happens during a turn. giving youmaximum grip

i think besides the computer aids, it's already has a grippy suspension. but the gtr is MADE to brake laws of physics, with all those aids, it's almost impossible to lose it around a corner.

some people HAVE locked diffs on their car because they have no money for an lsd.

it's okey if they are looking to replicate their car in lfs, it's just another option, so what if too many people use full lock?

BTW, the new GTR dropped the skyline prefix, just like supra did to celica

yes, sponsors, it's "kinda hard" to "impossible" to raise your own budget for a race car.

but what about team stickers? affiliations, and other memorabilias for your car, kinda like tattoos(group affiliation)

ah, yesh.... i think that people who swap those monster powerhouses into their small cars, sold out. I love 4 bangers, since it sounds so rough when you push it hard. It feels unstable and wild.

what?!?!? that's outrageous, it's great as it is! like how GT has an editor for everything, it's awsome. no way in hell is it good.

I don't get why people would be against diff locking, solid diff is easy to code, and also with a solid axle(not suspension) you get better power transfer, it would be a pain to race an open diff;

enter a corner too fast and you lift the inside wheel thus denying acceleration to wheels.

and i would think it's not so much "removing a feature to the game" as it is putting a restriction on something already there. LSD's are advanced, but locked diffs are the original design for a drive chain, until it was proven to be an inconvenience for daily drivers, then someone invented the differential. but that's a pain to race so someone invented lsd's. closed diffs are NOT BAD!! what are you going to do in LFS, park cars???

Quote from spanks :unless you're awesome and use american cars to piss people off

note: the term ricer is not restricted to use in any nationality of cars.

There are plenty of mustangs that are riced out, and worst are neons and homemade RS focuses

speaking of rice, i would want to see a "V-spec" Hyundai sonata with dubs and neon, with billet grills.

Quote from Gekkibi :Ok, maybe I was on fire when I wrote that last post. I don't hate drifting, actually it is pretty fun to watch (ocassionally). And if I recall correctly, I have never used word "ricer" or "riceboy".

However, I do disagree that LFS should have more drifting capabilites in the future. The more programmers spend time to those features, the less they can spend time in other features. I would love to have more weather conditions in LFS, not some kind of drift-points a'la NFS (I don't know how IRL they decide who is winner in drift competition, but I have understood it has something to do with judges, like skijumping or figure skating).

ok, but since you used "darifto" as a word for drift, i assumed that you where using mockery, and i don't think that coding in a point system would be necessary, or practical, since it's based on style.

although i think that they should have the CS style spectator thing where the spectators can watch without taking up slots, then have them vote like a figure skating compitition
Quote :Why not? Until you get into mega-bucks 'serious' drifting, with real sponsorship rather than just stickers of the components used on the car, it basically IS ricing in many ways!

If stickers are the defining points of a rice car, why not call all major race cars "rice" then?

But BOT, having a Hollywood-style button-activated-nos would be considered cheating. and i think it should not be used. and if there was boost, just make engines stronger and call it "turboed" or "blown"

^not teaching you, just trying to ask you NOT to use drift in synonomous with ricer. that's all, and stop saying darifto
