Quote from jaws99 :I have tried nearly every frontrunners setup and i just cant get back to the 1.08's. The back end seems very unstable through fast turns e.g i could easilly take the uphill chicane flat and now i have to lift off quite a bit just to take the corner. It's so bloody frustrating to watch people i could usally keep up with disappear off into the distance.Other people are definately having the same problems from what i've heard on redline racing.

Anyway, i will keep practicing with the non existent change and hopefully, i will eventually come good

Read my previous post. The problem I described there, with the solution is probably what you're experiencing based on the symptoms.

Sleep is an awesome thing, you know. It's nice to be rested and properly awake. I'm 17 and I suffer from slight... insomnia, if you could call it that - waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. I've gone to a lot of trouble these past few weeks to find a natural "cure" for that and I'm thankful that I did. Sleeping properly has meant that I actually function twice as well as I do otherwise.

Quote from jaws99 :Overall, i like the additions of the new patch but whatever you guys have done to the handling of the FOX in paticular are in my opinion bloody awful.

The only physics change is the preload setting for the clutch pack. That defaults to some value for each car, even in older sets so just set that to 0 (it's under drivetrain). Then it will handle exactly like before. However, you should still go an tweak your set so that you can make use of the preload setting because it is helpful.

Sadly not all the extensions work with it yet but it's very stable and rather awesome.

Quote from Burnzoire :On the flip side, perhaps now would be a good time to introduce a new car for the demo, another TBO to demonstrate how much fun it is to race different cars against each other. Yes, I also understand the importance of keeping the demo community happy, as it is where practically all S2 drivers started..

So they can spend more time making demo teams, and want more features... why not give them another track while we're at it? People already race this game for too long before purchasing it.

Quote from Mike85 :I cant believe to what lengths some of you will go to not have real tracks.

Only in LFS do you see this. Its a phenomenon

Anybody agree? I hope someone agrees.

I think you've got a short attention span. Anyone agree?
Alonso rules! (Sarcasm? You bet!)

*NOTE: Canadian GP spoilers!*

I've never heard anything dumber. Especially after this bit:
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news ... decided_alonso_would_win/

He sure was ecstatic and thankful of the team when he won Monaco, what made him change his mind so quickly?

He also blamed the safety car for all his problems during the Canada GP however that doesn't change the fact that he got taken on track by the Super Aguri of Takuma Sato, around the outside at that...

xt, handicaps exist in real life as well. For example, in certain series, cars with more power than a certain amount would have added mass to even them out... this can also be drivetrain based - for example, RWD cars might get handicapped because of their better handling. Saying handicaps are unrealistic is therefore idiotic. Voluntary handicaps are also fantastic for leagues albeit it'd be even better if they could be server enforced.

They're claiming good performance. How's speed and memory usage?

EDIT: Feels no faster than firefox, memory usage is not much better and ctrl+backspace doesn't work (which is on its own, enough to put me off).

Fair enough about the sector difference. One other suggestion - if the gap to the car behind is increasing gaps to the car behind, can the text be made green... yellow for constant and red for decreasing? - And a similar thing to the car in front albeit with reversed colours.

Yeah, the idea is that you can't time the lights, just like real life... Apart from on the drag strip where they do indeed use constant times in real life.

Quote from atledreier :God help us when we get changing track conditions like temperatures and stuff... And how about wind?

It's the same for everyone, deal with it.

"Aaaargh, no, now I have to make different setups for different track temperatures and air temperatures."

There will always be people who bitch about a patch... we saw it last year in the April update and this year again. 99% of the paying customers (and some new ones I'm sure) are more than thrilled with the changes.

Seriously... boohoo, 20kg, raise the rear a mm or two and stiffen the rear springs by a kN/m or two and your car will drive just the same even if it's .2s slower per lap. The important thing is the classes are now balanced and you can have proper multi-car races online. That means that everyone can drive the car they actually enjoy rather than the fastest car in the class.

Sweeeeet! Love you lots, Vain!

Just a question, is it not possible to use the time from the end of the previous sector on the pitboard? I mean, if the gap is more than one sector, you wouldn't care about it much...

I still don't get why the lack of a reset, no-repair option is stopping you from cruising. If it was really that bad for most cruisers, wouldn't there be many more complaints about on this forum than around 3 or so? Here's an out-of-the-box idea... the people complaining just can't stay away from the walls and they have nothing better to do than complain now that patch X is out and all the other cruise servers have updated. (Have they?)

If you crash into a red-and-white barrier at any sort of speed, given their current physics, you will most definitely have a very broken car anyway, how do you drive with it unrepaired?

What is cruising anyway? The name implies that it is going around in circles at non-racing speeds, in which case, even if you're using the red and white barriers, how on earth do you end up on your roof?!

Improvements to the AI are coming in the next patch, apparently, so don't worry.

Quote from Electrik Kar :OT, but anyone got clues as to what will be improved, physics wise?

Scawen's mentioned Torsen differentials, possibly clutch simulation and longitudinal force improvements when there is lateral force too from what I recall. Though that's assuming that he was referring to them with regards to the next physics patch.

What Joen said. People are agreeing with you a lot today, Joen.
EDIT: Though once S3 is out, I think it should be released in the shops... the devs ought to make a killing and they deserve it, most certainly.

Quote from faster111 :now i know what car to go for now.

That's missing the point of having balanced classes. The cars in each class should be pretty damn close now, so much that you can compensate for it with driving skill. You should just take the car you enjoy the most, which should indeed be the XRT by default - because RWD is manly.

And thank you for improving your already excellent product so much, once again!

It really has gotten a lot better to race online, and now I can actually race internationally without a problem - I was racing the LX6 earlier with an 8 car grid or so and 350ms ping and before, with that, I would see cars jumping 1-2m to the side into corners... none of that, it was perfect! I hope you give yourself a well-deserved break before working on physics!

Quote from csimpok :Grats for patch, it works great and online play seems to be much much smoother than before (less lag for example).

The lfsworld wr-s won't be reseted for the cars which have added weight now? (For example xrt, fzr,...)

The added weight is only functional online. Offline, they're still as heavy as before making the current WRs fair.

Thanks! Looking forward to using this in the local league!
Just by the way, I can't see anything about Patch X on the LFS main site, should I be able to?

Errr, if Patch X would contain new cars, I'm fairly sure that Scawen wouldn't have let the cat out of the bag before it went live. So chances are that he was referring to Patch Y or a physics incompatible patch where we might indeed get a new car.

Quote from Taavi(EST) :

I know the shadow looks weird, and so does the headlight...

I loved the work with effects but I didn't quite like the colouring... So I thought I'd poke around a bit trying to make it look more "real" though I can see that's not the effect you were going for in the first place. I hope you don't mind me uploading my edited version (if you do, I'll take it off).

Now please, do some reading and learn or prove the above wrong by beating a few world records while drifting. On tarmac, that is.

EDIT:
Quote from Tomi :no. a lateral slide induce more friction. more friction = slower. It is as simple as that.

I recommend you leave the discussion at this point. Really, friction is what makes you turn. But this is much much more complex than the friction that is taught in basic physics/mechanics, and I shan't try to explain it here.
