Caring about the league is done by asking how you can help in situations like these...not displaying how accurate your hindsight is in a whine-fest. These guys are running this league for everyone's benefit without asking for recognition or praise, and are doing it in their free time. Constructive criticism is fine...what I see in this thread is not.
Wow....17 hours since the whining started about the timing of the announcement for the new skin requirement...and in that time, several people have come (sometimes come back) to the forums (while in the evening hours in Europe mind you) to whine some more. Shouldn't you be spending that time actually adjusting your skins versus whining about all of this?
Yeah yeah, I know you're going to say...what about all the people that don't see this announcement? Isn't it their responsibility to checking for things like this before a race? Instead of whining about things, it would be a lot more constructive to just change your skins and maybe even offer help to those that are finding it difficult to get those changes done.
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful wishes! It's great to see so many different representatives from so many great teams supporting us! We look forward to more great racing to come!
BTW....love the new site and logo...simple, clean layout (I'm sure some pleasing graphics will come later) and the logo is nice and iconic as you guys were looking for! Good job fellas!
You can come over to my house, but that is likely 500 miles or more, so it's probably going to be either gone or moldy, but you're welcome to what's left.
w00t! Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to CoRe, Happy Birthday to us!
I want to thank all the guys on CoRe for being great teammates over the years. Especially Ben for sharing his cooking and camera hobbies and for always giving me his honest opinions on stuff, Nolan for his passion for not reading rules and tolerating my snoring at the Petit Le Mans and pestering me for all those graphics for his vids, Corey for his blog like programming play-by-play over the LOTA IRC channel and his solid anchor-like performances in all those endurance races, Matt for sharing all his shit with us and for chewing on CornNuts over Vent, Dave for his recent updates on his pursuit of motorcycle racing, Brian for giving us his loving opinion of "Chip Boy", and Otis, who I miss because he lives 100 yards from high speed internet but can't get the cable company to come down his damn road!
This past year has been a blast with our successes in IGTC, MoE, and LOTA and I look forward to many more great times with these guys!
Now, if I could only get Nolan to sell me his other G25 for cheap.
Even though I think it's pretty sad that we now have words that approximate what an acronym sounds like when spoken, I have to admit, I roffled at that video too!
BTW....aren't these 'rumors' coming from the last ASS release where they surmise that since LFS is at Patch Y, and there is only one letter left in the alphabet, that an S3 release is imminent?
I have 51,344 overall laps completed in 4883 finished races, competed in nearly 90 league races (of which I have DNF'd in only about 5), but since I only have 408 laps on the oval in the FO8, I technically don't qualify based on this "500 minimum laps in FO8/KY1". Not trying to boast, but this is the perfect example of why test races are the only way to go.
There a ton of racing series and leagues you can join. League of the Americas (LOTA) has racing on Thursday evenings (two GTR leagues, one is unrestricted, one is field balanced with restrictions) and on Monday evenings (random cars/track chosen by the drivers). LOTA normally races at 9:30 PM EST. Comprehensive rule set, very well organized, and a great community.
On Saturdays, there are a number of leagues in which to race. Most are in Europe in their evenings, so you are looking at 2PM EST average start time locally. Original LFS League (OLFSL) is a good one because it places you in a pool that most closely matches your speed. If you are looking for an open wheel series, check out Open Wheel Racing League (OWRL), which like OLFSL, puts you in a pool per your speed and you move up as you prove your skill.
A few others that seem pretty active to check out:
Also, keep an eye on the Leagues and Events section on these forums. You can see discussion forums for most leagues (some are info only as the convos happen off site), and also information on single events that can be a lot of fun.
Regarding the IGTC and MoE...these series you need to be part of a team to get into these series, and they are very tough leagues that attract some of the best racers in LFS. Not to discourage you in looking toward these as a goal...just be informed of the difficulty and requirements.
As you can see, there are a ton of choices. Check into them, see what you think fits you. Just remember that league racing will generally be more serious than pick-up racing, even the organized pick-up racing like CTRA. You get out of league racing what you put into it, so if you are willing to work at it, league racing can be very fun and rewarding.
