Well said. I have had the same job (mechanical engineer) for the past 14 years (today was my anniversary). The work is a bit tedious and monotonous at times, but there are occasions where I get interesting projects and I get to travel a small amount for my job. I'm paid pretty well, so no complaints there.
When my wife and I had children, my outlook on my job changed completely. Before I made an effort to do a good job for the sake of doing a good job. Now, I make that same effort so not only can I be proud of my work, but I can afford to give my family a nice life.
Occasionally, there have been opportunities to take jobs that were more fulfilling but didn't pay as well. I chose to turn those down because my #1 priority is my wife, son, and daughter. I do have an opportunity to develop a business that will be extremely fun and interesting to me and will pay very well compared to now. I know that opportunity will only enhance my ability to have fun with my family. Work to live, not live to work.
ATTN: LOTA Officials are discussing with RSR officials to handle the management of XSCC (within LOTA) and keep this series going strong. More details very soon!
FYI...the server is already setup for this race. It will be public for now for people to practice on. It also has Kevin Burns' timing app running to track your sector and lap times.
Also, we are thinking about utilizing both CoRe servers (which are UK based, btw) to handle the qualifying in order to save some time. The LX6's will line up first, then the LX4's. A notice will be posted if this becomes official.
We're asking all teams (except ours of course) to limit entries to one per team. At this time, I'll post your second entry (without numbers) as a reserve and if there are open spots as of April 3rd, you'll get one.
Teams: 14x 3-man, 2-car teams (This allows for 42 team drivers on server at once, Race Director, Push Car Driver, Safety Car Driver, and two commentators.) 12 slots are reserved for CoRe teams and teams we specifically invite (invitations have been sent). *Note: Depending on some still developing details, this may increase to 15 teams.
Team Skins: You are welcome to do special skins for this race. Please adhere to all LFS requirements for skins. Also, please have your car numbers on the rear, both sides, and on the plates.
Driver Names: (Note: when switching cars, you MUST switch your name as well!)
LX6 should use this format: ## F.Lastname
LX4 should use this format: ## F.Lastname
Server: "CoRe 4th Anniversary Race" - server will have Kevin Burns's server tracking application running in practice mode. On the Friday and Saturday leading up to the race, the server will be set to 10 minute qualifying and 10 lap races. Server passwords will be sent to the driver that registers each team on March 30th for private practice sessions.
Qualifying: 20 minutes per car, team choose qualifying driver...must be different driver for each car. Qualifying driver does NOT have to start the race in the car qualified.
Race: 3 hours timed
Driver Minimum Requirements: Each driver must drive at least 30 laps in each car type.
Driver Swap Limitations: Each team may only have 3 drivers max on the server (two driving, one spectate) for the purpose of driver switches. If a driver that has just exited a car will be entering a car within 2 laps, he may remain on the server. Otherwise, he should disconnect.
* Driver 1 drives LX6 for hour 1
* Driver 2 drives LX4 for hour 1
* Driver 3 drives LX6 for hour 2
* Driver 1 drives LX4 for hour 2
* Driver 2 drives LX6 for hour 3
* Driver 3 drives LX4 for hour 3
*NOTE: Carefully plan and execute your swap schedules. In the above example, there is a potential bottle neck switching driver #1 from LX6 to LX4 for hour 2 because he is essentially doing hour 1 & 2 back to back.
Driving Rules: Don't wreck people. If you don't know how to drive, you won't be in this race anyway. More details to come on possible SC periods.
Broadcast: We will be looking into getting this race broadcast on Mogulus with commentary.
Registration: Please submit a post in this thread with your intention to register. One entry per team, please. If there are still open spots as of April 3rd, we'll open those spots to second entries.
Your post should be formatted like the following:

Server passwords will be sent out Friday evening to team contacts!
Sounds complex. So in sprints and qualifying teammates drive in different sessions? Is the 'endurance' a car sharing race then?
I'm presuming it's gtrs? Any balancing on them? Any idea of tracks that will be used?
Two drivers per team. Each driver competes in a designated session of both qualifying and sprint. The kicker is that between the two drivers, only one pitstop must be made during the one of the sprints...teams decide which driver makes the stop and when. This is an interesting point because the strategy and "luck" factors are endless.
The main race is gridded by combined points from both sprints for a team, with tiebreakers coming via qual times (I think...don't quote me ). The race is an endurance race where both drivers share the car.
GTRs are the cars of choice, and the balancing (per the unofficial rules) is described as:
The minimum weight of each car will be detailed as follows:
1. FXO GTR (FXR) - 1120 kg
2. XR GTR (XRR) - 1110 kg (+10 kg)
3. FZ50 GTR (FZR) - 1130 kg (+30 kg)
Do you see any issues with the RSS feed from LFS News? I am using the standard RSS feed function within Wordpress and it is showing that the LFS News RSS feed URL (http://www.lfsworld.net/feeds.php?type=news&f=0) does not output a valid RSS feed. Yet, when you navigate to that URL in a browser, you get the feed just. Is this something from your end or is this Wordpress with the error?
Did someone mention and LX6 event? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Yessir! How about this for a teaser: 3 hours, 3 man teams with two cars (LX4 & LX6), each driver must drive each car at least once. More details to come!
Just a quick note on the recruiting side of CoRe: we've established a "recruit" status level for some potential new drivers. We tried the CoRe Development Team in the past and it didn't really work out very well. Historically, we added members that we were already familiar with (and them familiar with the team), but with our newer international teammates, we now have many more contacts within the LFS community.
Having the ability to "trial" a driver is a good way to give us and them a proper amount of time to evaluate talent and personality. The "recruit" status isn't required for all applicants, but it now gives us more flexibility in the recruiting process. For those interested, there is a "CoRe Trial Guidelines" document published on our website.
As of this past week, we've added two recruits (names will not be disclosed). You can find CoRe recruits online using the "rCoRe F.Lastname" tag in all black colors.
On March 9, 2005, the CoRe Racing Team started on its journey
in Live For Speed. Four years later with many changes and new
members, CoRe Racing is still going as strong as ever. Participation
in many different leagues and races, management of several major
LFS leagues, multiple league and big race championships, and through
it all, we've built some great friendships that make it all a lot of fun.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has been a part of a
great four years and here's looking forward to many more to come!
In celebration of our anniversary, CoRe Racing will be staging an LX4/6 team
endurance race! Stay tuned to the Leagues & Events forum for all of the details!
