I believe "/ban username" will still ban them, but for either 12 hours or 24 hours, I don't remember which. 12 would be my guess.

Post deleted. I received word that our problem was a hardware issue.

Thanks for posting that Scottie. What seems odd about this is that I checked things server side to restart the server, I had trouble keeping the server running. I checked and rechecked the setup file, and even reinstalled the server files with no change in stability. It may have been a server hardware issue, but still strange that we could all still race, see and send messages, and register finishing positions. Scottie won the race, and when he finished, it was just behind me. When I entered turn 1, I was removed from the race with the message "banshee56 did not finish".

Now that I think about it, I wonder if it was my ADSL connection that was a bit of the cause, I kept disconnecting and reconnecting to Ventrilo. When I finally quit racing LFS for the evening, I opened the Vent server interface to find 5 connections to the Vent server.

Really strange.

BTW, the server is running V5, and is located in Texas, so it was fairly close to almost all that were participating in the event.

Nice idea, but you've completely excluded the entire Western Hemisphere from competing in the entire event by starting at 10 AM GMT.

OMG....you don't even know what happened on my server, and you are calling me a fool? For your information, I have 10x more laps in LFS than you, plus 13 years of real life racing experience, so yeah, I know how racing can be in regards to incidents. Preston was banned on my server for a combination of things: a single incident that he was clearly at fault, for which I warned him, to which he argued with extremely vulgar language, for which I kicked him, only to come back on and continue the vulgar personal attacks, for which he was perma-banned. No room for that on any server. Get your facts straight before you defend someone that has admitted to intentional wrecking.

EDIT: You know what, I don't even know why I'm defending my actions. I run a fair server for which I help pay. I'll do what's in the best interest of the community, regardless of what you think.

For your information, I banned Preston because he came on a server that I help pay for and displayed actions and tendencies that I don't care to have on my server. Honestly, actions like mine in those cases only make this game better, because we are protecting the integrity of the better servers and the community.

I've been playing 3+ years, and if it not for running a league, I probably would have slowed a lot. Now, when new patches and content come out, I find my interest level re-ignited, so yeah, I think I will be playing for a while. I would expect my interest level in LFS would remain high enough to at least see the sim develop through S3.

I generally don't post directly to you or the other devs regarding the sim, but I would like to make an observation. Over the past year or so, I've noticed that you have started to defend yourself against posts like and1's, and I sense some growing frustration in your posts. I think his relative lack of experience with this sim (he's finished all of 13 races with an S2 license) has led him to be a little more impatient when it comes to waiting for updates.

I just wanted to publicly voice my support for your, and Eric and Victor's, efforts on the development of LFS. Sure, I've had times where I've wanted this or that, or was getting anxious for another update, but there is a reason why I've been playing this sim for 3+ years now: I enjoy watching the sim develop as much as I enjoy racing.

Keep up the good work and enjoy the ride as much as we do!
