Quote from Victor :1) well, it's kind of intended for single news 'events' yes. But, you can edit your post as many times as you want and you can add multiple results per post, so you can keep adding to a post as you go.
But if you'd do that, currently the post timestamp would remain the same, so the post would not appear on top, in the public eye when you add results, unless people will filter by your league (not yet added).

Good point about the time stamp. Here's some thoughts on the news interface relative to leagues/series and single events:

The main interface could be split into two sections (each sorted by timestamp):

1) For General LFS and league news and single event results posts

2) A section under that main news section that lists "headlines" (which simply could be something like "LOTA XRT Stock Car Cup - Winter 2008 Season - Race 1 Results"), that would be linked to the results entry of the same name within the series post. (I use the term 'series' because we call LOTA a 'league' and each type of racing a 'series', which then have coded season names.)

When filtering by league, a similar interface would show up with non-series specific news on top and the same results headlines.

Number of leagues in LOTA: in the past 2 years, we've run 14 different types of series: http://www.lfs-lota.net/index.php?action=rlm_league;sa=about That number is likely to increase over time when we come up with different racing ideas.

Some more thoughts/questions on this interface:

1) Is each news post intended to be for a single event? Can a news post be made that defines a series/league and then be able to submit event results multiple times so that each event's results show at the bottom of the series post?

2) Attachments: will there be a way view all the attachments uploaded for multiple use? Are only the attachments that I upload viewable by only me? Can the [img] tag be added to reduce the number of images uploaded to LFS servers?

3) manual Results columns: can we add multiple columns with the same header? i.e. race and bonus points?

4) Calendar events: how about a spot on the post interface to add race dates to the post, which will then be transferred to LFS Forums calendar? is that even possible?

Quote from Victor :how about Mixed Series instead? Or do you really mean, LOTA is a collection of different leagues, for different types of cars?

LOTA is a collection of different leagues, so maybe "Multiple Series League"?

EDIT: Who approves the news posts?

EDIT2: How about an option to not show the league title if the logo is clear enough?

Victor,

In the options to select the league type, there is only:

24 Race
Single Event
GTR League
Single Seater League
Normal Road Car League
Endurance League
Drift League

There are at least two leagues out there that have multiple series with different types of cars: LOTA and OLFSL.

LOTA has series for GTRs, open wheels, road cars, rally series, etc etc. Can you add an option for "Multiple Series"?

Victor,

LOTA would love to help test this service. We have a 4-race series starting on Thursday evening EST.

Either myself or "hollywood" would like to have access to the interface for LOTA.

Thanks!

Quote from Priitmek :Sorry for sounding too rude, but be assured that it was nothing connected to the team or its ability to host a server. The leader of the team is just an a** and he, with his minions, has been screwing LFS Estonia around for over a month. I will not go into details, but we're dealing with a major idiot here. It' s nothing personal since I am sure that I am speaking for most of the Estonian community members, who have been suffering several times due to the actions of the person in question.

Well alright then...negative attitude properly applied then.

My kart (not me, as these are a year after I stopped driving):

I raced dirt & pavement oval karts for 13 years, with about 50 race wins, a couple local track championships, and a national Top-4 season finish. One of the best times of my life.

A server does not make a team, young man. And the lack of one surely does not mean you have to close the team.

You've got everything else a team needs, like members, a website, a forum, skins, etc. etc. What exactly do you need a server for? Team league race practice? Screwing around? What?

As M.vdBroek said, why can't you or one of your guys host a server when you need one? It doesn't have to be 47 slots, just big enough to do what you need.

Just wanted to make sure everyone understands that while this a LOTA series, it's not held during the weekday evenings in the US, so it doesn't have the time restrictions you may associate with traditional LOTA series.

The XRT Stock Car Cup is a weekend series held on Sundays at 20 UTC, and is catered and open to the entire LFS community! At it stands now, the registration is open and is half full. Larger grids is where the format shines with heat and knockout races in the schedule, so if you are looking for a unique, stock car styled series, the LOTA XRT Stock Car Cup is where you need to be!

For info and to register, visit the XRT Stock Car Cup page.

Because you have trouble finding (and turning DOWN) that "outbound" setting in Ventrilo. My ears are still ringing. True story.

No, seriously, you did a great job in the 16hrs and we genuinely appreciate you teaming up with us for the overall win!

The XRT Stock Car Cup is an XRT-only stock-car type racing series consisting of 4 oval events and 4 road course events. Formerly known as the StormCup, the series includes the traditional stock car racing features such as Safety Car regulated starts/restarts, Safety Car periods, the "Lucky Dog" rule for lapped cars, and required pit stops.

Events on the Kyoto Ring Oval including the special knock-out formatted All-Star Challenge, two oval events on custom courses at the AutoCross Arena, and road course events highlight the eight event schedule. Colorful skins, exciting drafting battles, and close, hard racing make the XRT Stock Car Cup the definitive stock car racing series in LFS. All events start at 20:00 UTC (15:00 EST).

Schedule & Tracks:

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

Victor,

We have an update to the spot currently held by this banner (added per this post):

We would like to change that banner to this one:

...with this link: http://www.lfs-lota.net/index. ... lm_league;sa=series;id=35

Also, in the "League of the Americas" league section, we'd like the following changes made:
1) Please change the section entitled "StormCup" to read "XRT Stock Car Cup" and remove the website listing for that section
2) Add LFS username BigTime as a moderator for that section (if that's possible)

Thanks for your help!

Quote from tenmantaylor :Turn 1 at Aston National (and some other configs) is almost identical to Parabolica at Monza.

This is a good thing, early apexes sort the men from the boys

Not nearly as much as late apexes do like that of Aston National Reverse.

Thanks guys!

I know LOTA has typically held racing series that are more time beneficial to the Western Hemisphere, but we've been working on some plans for a couple stand-alone events that the other half of the world can compete in as well, so we are looking forward to seeing even more of the LFS community racing with us soon!
League of the Americas: Two Years Old!!

Two years ago today, LOTA officially started serving the Western Hemisphere with quality LFS Racing. Two years, fifteen racing seasons, and 110+ league races later, we're still going strong! We've had a lot of help along the way, and we'd like to thank them here:

Server Providers: The team members of Stars & Stripes SimRacing and CoRe Racing for dedicating one server each to LOTA. Thank you!

LOTA League/Series Officials: Over the past two years, these guys have helped to lead LOTA in the right direction: Chris Schletter, Brian Shanahan, Albert Terrahe, Scot Marsh, Chad Seip, Nolan Scott, Kevin Burns, Phil Diaz, David Sirois, and myself. These guys have put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make this thing happen. Thank you guys vey much!

Other Special Recognition: Members of BlackSheep Racing for helping with testing the orignial league idea and administration in the early days; Brian Shanahan for being a server admin many many times; Nolan Scott for all the great movies and for pitching in with server admin duties; Josh Gringas for always entertaining us and for pitching in with server admin duties; Ben Keough and for pitching in with server admin duties; Chris Schletter for all of his work on the RLM and the site outside his regular official duties; Chad Seip for most of the original LOTA logos; Lukasz Kaczmarek for his great GTC race reports, Yannick Martin for his Formula GP2 Challenge podium pics, and many many others! I'm sure I am missing a few so I'm sorry for that, but rest assured that we appreciate your efforts as well!

A very special thank you goes out to those who have donated money to LOTA to help pay for the website hosting and LFS server rentals. You guys are so generous and we really appreciate your help!

Lastly, and certainly most important in my mind, we want to thank each and every driver that has raced with LOTA over the past two years. You guys are why we do this, and when we see things like the upcoming MicroGTR Shootout have it's registration FULL in less than four days, it makes it all worth it!

THANKS FOR RACING WITH LOTA!
