Well, if you put it that way you have to count all the other things you pay for, like insurance, tax and the maintenance of your car/bike.

Also, if you were traveling by train to work everyday you wouldn't just pay the 3.20 everytime you got there, you would buy a monthly ticket or soemthing....

Quote from ajp71 :Utter bollocks... I took my test in a 2 litre car.

Insurance companies also always ask what type of license you have when you take out insurance...

Popped into my head too, my big brother sat his test and drove around in a 2.0 turbo diesle audi, actually made me laugh reading his comment.

Quote from ajp71 :Try getting a quote on something that isn't such a commonly crashed car by young drivers, whilst Corsas may be chavved up and crashed by those wanting a 'wicked sub install' Kas and Micras are crashed lots by incompetent young drivers, more typically the types who just can't drive and have somehow managed to pass their test on the third attempt. My Dad's 1.6 Focus was only £800 comprehensive with Tesco with me as a named driver.

My mates parents have a 1.6 focus LX and he's insured on that untill he gets his own car, they're only group 5 insurance which is quite low for such a fun car which is relatively fast.

I was going to downgrade from my 1.4 golf to a 1.4 polo, but upon checking the stats on it I found it was group 10 insurance for the standard model which is crazy, but it does have 100bhp and is quite fast, but still, 1.8 astra sports can be insured for less.

I have my mum as a named driver on my policy, but try elephant directly for a quote, they were by far the cheapest for my own policy.

Who are you getting quotes from? When I went TPFT with elephant it actually went up, same with alot of other insurers.

Here's an A3 we also have at the garage, fricking beautiful, 1.6 though they are still group 9 insurance, we had a 1.8 turbo in once, no one would ever give me a quote.

I've only had the golf 6 months (first tax is up at the end of the month ) I was 18 when I got the golf, I had the corsa for about 16 months, that was 600 through my mums insurance then 220 for the next year with direct line, but haha, for some reason they put my insurance through as a husband and wife policy, so it came through much cheaper because they thought my mum was my partner......hahahahah.

Once we all realised the mistake when I was canceling the policy they tried to charge me £250, yea right.

You can get a mk4 golf quite cheap nowadays, mine cost me no more than £1300 so far and that includes some problems i've had with it, thougth I baught it when it had a few scrapes and scratches on it from an auction and got the paintjob etc done rather cheaply on it.

I'd seirously price a 1.4 E golf though, stay clear of the 1.6's though, they might have 25bhp more, but the 1.4's sell for more because the 1.6 just plain sucks...

My golf MK4 1.4 is only group 4 insurance, which is facking cheap, this year is my first year under my own insurance and it was only £750 with elephant who seem to be the best insurers for young drivers.

The only thing is the 1.4 only has 75bhp, 0-60 in 13.6 seconds which is dog slow compared to 1.2 clios etc, but above 70 it seems to fly along rather easily.

I would recommend the older MK3s but we have a 1.4SE one of those in at our garage and it's group 8 insurance and only 60bhp...

I started out with a 1.2 corsa with nly 40bhp and to be honest, you don't really need a "fast" car and the chances are your gunna give it a few scrapes.

The only thing I would say about the golf is that modifying them can be quite pricey, though what can you expect from such a german pimp mobile?

Just my 2c, I know there's most definetely better first cars out their, but when I thought about golfs I allways figured the insurance and maintenance would be quite high, but I guess with it not being such a young persons car it's alot cheaper than you expect.

Btw, with a 1.2 punto I was quoted £850 a year (Well it's a 10 month policy, but you still get the 1 years no claims) and I can get about 36-40mpg out of a tank of fuel and i'm not the most conservative driver out there...

Good stuff Arechee, I think I have some spare time on Sunday night to try and come up with 5 tenths, though to be honest most of my laps are within a few tenths of the WR, so these 5 tenths wont come easy.

Good to have something to make me play LFS though, havn't had any sort of motivation at all lately, hopefully if we get this new patch things will spice up again.

I'm sure I can remember Victor saying that he still has all the charts from the previous patches saved and there will be some sort of hall of fame in the future, don't quote me on that though.

It's quite true though, you can see Arechee even got bored and just wanted to put in any old lap to get the first place like KyGP FZR.

I done the same with a few laps when I done it months ago, what's the point in wasting time on a hotlap when you don't need to?

Anyhow, I suppose I have to update some hotlaps, though it's not gunna be easy to beat him at all, especcially when he has quite a few laps where he has quite alot of time to gain.

Grats.

Yea, most people use that when driving the MRT/FBMW, but instead of pressing the clutch they pull the lever to shift, hold it in then lift off a tiny bit to change gear, stops you missing gears.

My mum and dad have MSN, my mum doesn't use it though, but my dad does, considering we lived 120 miles apart for about 6 years, i'm f**king glad he had it.

I used to have Toyos and the level on grip with them is rather good.com, especcially in the rain. I had to have my rear tyres changed to another make and in the rain my 1.2 corsa would oversteer pretty much all the time.

I used to work with a guy who has a 205 2.0 turbo track car and he uses toyos on that too, so i'd say they were quite a good performance tyre.

Beautiful car and beautiful pictures

Just a note on the turbo lag, these new VW TSI's have a supercharger and a turbo strapped onto them, supercharger kicks in while the turbo spools up, crazy....

The car is stunning on the road too, though i've allready been in the situation where i've had to brake rather heavily for one pulling out infront of me, clearly paying to much attention to the lovely dash board...

Quote from asdad :Is ethical the use of less than 180 degrees in a g25 to be faster?

When LFS engine detects the degrees and the steering config of the players and records it in the spr's, bawbag and some of his "pro" friend will lose all respect that many guys have him. The time will put each one in his place

Why I'm demo racer? I paid for my license!

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5415/lfss.jpg

whats that!

Yea, the "respect" people show me is only for how fast I turn the wheel, nothing to do with how fast I make the car go.

Ok, anyway, i'm really sorry to all those people who respect me and my pr0 friends, but I have something to get off my chest, yes I only use 270 degreese rotation. I'm so sorry, please don't hate me, please don't throw me out of this great community and please, give me a chance to change.

Ok, so seriously, just for arguments sake, In the profiler I use 271 degreese of roation (It wouldn't go to 270 :P ) 100 force feedback and 0 for the other two options. (Damping or something) In LFS I have it at 270 again and 1.00 wheel turn compensation and 20% force feedback. I used to use alot more force feedback but they start to die really quickly, I don't understand why the wheels are able to have such strong force feedback, yet they can overheat so easily.
