Quote from danthebangerboy :

So which was it, a 1.2 or a 1.4, me confused.

Sorry if it was unclear, James described his 1.4sport as "nippy" but for me, my 1.2 corsa which took 16 seconds to get to 60 was "nippy" and his 1.4 sport doing it in 10.5 seconds which is pretty damn quick.

They might not check, you might get lucky, but if you have an accident with a 20 grand mercedes you can be sure as hell they're gunna find any little reason to invalidate your insurance so they don't have to pay out...

Yea, they won't check untill you've had an accident.......

The first year of no claims is the most important and will save you the most money, 1 years no claims nocks about 30% off your current quote and when your paying 1500 for insurance it's sure as hell gunna make a differnce.

Quote from james12s :, and really the corsa sprts aint that quick, more nippy. the link in my sig

My 1.2 trip corsa was nippy, but 0-60 in 10.5 seconds is pretty damn fast, especcially for a 1.4.

The quickest standard 1.4 I know of is the MG ZR doing it in 10.0 seconds and when you consider that the MK4 2.0 Golf does it in 10.1 seconds.....it's far from nippy.

As for the driving, your gunna do some stupid stuff in it, you think you wont, but it will happen.

There was a guy on radio 1 yesterday talking about getting the cheapest car insurance deals. The first thing he said was use atleast 3 differn't comparison websites as some of them favour some companys more than others.

Then when you find your cheapest quote go directly to that site and enter your details because the comparisons sites will add some on.

Then when you've found your cheapest quote go to a cashback website and buy it through that and you could get money back through that.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cashback-websites

I was quite surprised to hear about this cashback thing, but you should read into it and how it works, it's quite interesting.

Btw, i'm with elephant and this was my first year on my own policy for a 1.4 Mk4 golf and it's £750 for a 10 month policy, it was the cheapest I could find and I get 1 years no claims 2 months earlier.

I've seen this girl quite a few times now, in ads and such for differn't websites (Like the dating thing at the top of torrentleech) and somehow I seem to have remembered seeing the picture before....

I was thinking that, if you didn't want it to carry on then just stop posting, seems simple.

Anyhow, what kind of car are we getting now? I'm getting massive notions to get a new car, perhaps something smaller or similar size with a bit more grunt, but I think I might just wait till I can get a GTTDI.....

Quote from tristancliffe :Same with cars - anyone who says one brand is particularly shit in the wet is probably a terrible driver in the first place.

Actually, that's quite a bold statement to make considering it's untrue, i've only been driving for two years and i've only had two cars but still i've been lucky enough to experience good and bad tyres.

I got a set of alloys for my corsa a few months after buying it, they were just average tyres, can't recall the make, but they had pleanty of tread and were good in the dry. In the wet they were garbage, massive understeer, but I just figured that's just how it goes with a corsa in the rain. So I get a new set of alloys with Toyos all round, the fronts had about 5mm of tread left, the rears only about 1mm before being illegal. The differnce in the grip in the wet was massive, the car held the road so much better, being in the rain no longer felt like running on ice.

So I get another set of part worn tyres for the rear, meaning 2 toyos on the front and 2 "Good average" tyres for the rear, similar tread pattern etc. Now, in the rain the car would oversteer every chance it got, I can think of countless amount of times when the rear completely let go, sometimes when not even pushing the front tyres at all.

The golf I have just now has yokohamas on the front and they are awfull, as soon as the rain is falling the grip just disapears. The guy who painted my gold told me as soon as I put these wheels on it that the yokohamas were awful rain tyres, he used to have them on a 1.9tdi passat and it would wheel spin in 3rd year.....

Anyway, sorry to interupt your massive multiquote arguments here, but I just figured i'd throw in my 2cents...

Well we see these sorts of things on animal channels anyway so it's hardly a 'big' thing, the funny part is the peoples expressions.

Quote from DeKo :the difference is, what is on the speedo at 100+ doesnt relate at all to what the car is actually doing, they get very very innacurate when they get to that speed.

Don't I know it, mine said 115 once, yea right.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :A 1.4 Fiesta will get 120mph (maybe) which is more than your peice of American shite, look at your roads too, shite unless you live in the canyons

Yea, a stock fiesta wont do 120mph, unless it's down hill, will have to be a pretty big hill at that though.

On the other hand, 1.4 golfs go over 120 easy.

I would of been on a traders policy but you have to have had your licence for more than 1 or 2 years, I don't know if their all like that but it will certainly bump up the price if a 17 year old driver is put on the policy.

Nice info Psycho, I knew that the cost of public transport was going up but I didn't realise it had went up by so much, though I didn't think that the cost of driving had gone down....
