Though, freakin women drivers still get a better deal than us guys.
I allways new women got cheaper car insurance than guys, but never quite checked just how much....
This year on my MG Zr 1.4 16v, I pay £1200, i've been driving for 2 and a half years (Though i've got 0 NCB since Direct line wouldn't release it) anyhow, I checked how much my GF would be to insure my car if she just passed her test. £1000, she's 2 years younger than me...
So I check on my 2 previous cars, on my 1.4 Golf she was £150 cheaper....
I know this is complete rapage of this thread, but I had to get this off my chest, considering how many daft women I see doing daft things on the road it's daylight robbery!
I think i'll finally have to get a PS3, When i first got the Playstation it was for the Granturismo, then the Playstation 2 was for GT3......anyone got any spare PS3's...
I know it would be a pain, but why not just try the tweak and if we find awesome settings with Scipys calculations then just get some smart guy to make a pack so it makes it easier for all us dumbasses who can't work out how to use tweak.
Or is there problems with running a tweak only server? But even still, if we modded the XRR and found the perfect balance between itself and the FZR then we only have to send the values to the devs to save them having to find them out for themselves.
But erm, yea, it shouldn't be noticeable but he didn't use 2pack primer so you can see some dodgyness in the paint when you see it with direct light, but apart from that, it's great, all of this for under a grand, including the amount my insurance went up, tax and borrowing some rover 45 alloys (My alloys needs a couple of tyres and I want to get the alloys sprayed anyway so it makes sense to borrow these. )
Amen, to add to that, after a drunken night of sheer dunkenness, I asked the question, is lady gaga a man? After some quick speculation, we sent a text to 118 118 and quickly got a reply saying no she's not a man, she was born Stephanie bla bla bla in such n such a hospital.
Though, "not the nicest face" is still pretty damn hot.
I havn't drove mine yet It's getting painted on Monday so I should have it on the road by Thursday or Friday, but I have drove my mates one, 1.4, I like them, handling is far better than than my Golf and the corsa (both had standard suspensions) but I havn't tried it for comfort. I do pleanty of motorway journeys so i'll give a comparison from the golf to the ZR then. Though the Golf is comfy and quiet as hell so it's allways gunna win when it comes to comfort...
Have you tried a quote on a 1.4 golf? Group 4 insurance, mega comfy, not the slowest, ideal first car imo.
Edit : I kinda have some bad blood with Direct line, on my second years insurance with my Corsa I was a named driver, it was only £220 a year, when I sold the car I phoned up to cancel the policy the woman on the phone asked who I was in relation to the policy holder, I replied i'm her son, she said, but this is a husband and wife policy.... :S She then went on to tell me that husband and wife policys have a discount, which when taken off put the policy up to £500 and claimed that I had to pay the differnce even though I was phoning to cancel the policy.
It was all done over the phone and was a mistake at their end, I never even knew that being husband and wife would or even should have a differnce on the policy, especcially since the details of both drivers are the same. Regardless, I didn't pay that, they claimed that they would retrieve the money throgh the courts, it's been nearly a year now with no word.
Quite interesting that it drops by so much, if I had kept my golf my quote went from £750 to £690 with my first years no claims.
I allways heard that the first year drops it by around 30%, but for me it's more like 10%....
For a ZR i'm being charged £66 for my last 2 months on the policy, which is ontop of the £750 I paid outright, brings it up to about 1k, we'll see how much it drops with my 1 years no claims, if it doesn't fall much, bye bye ZR.
Wtf, would you preffer that the car had no crumple zones? If so and the car was made completely out of unbreakable materials, sure the car would still hold it's shape, but it wouldn't do any good for you in a body bag!
Silly? Don't be so ignorant, 1.2 with 70bhp is pretty damn good, the only better ones are the corsa 1.2s which do 75 and 80bhp.
For a first car, a damn 1.0 corsa is fast enough, nevermind MX5's, BMW's and ZR's.
Sam, you know a student with an M3, then later you say that MX5's are for people who's mummys and daddys buy them everything...? Ever thought that was the case with Mr M3?
On 5th gear a few years ago they had the ZR on and they wanted to make it into a track car, they actually called the suspension too soft and changed it, so it's not so bad that it would only be ok on a track, but the ride is quite stiff.
The car itself doesn't need lowered, any lower and you'll be planning your daily routes to avoid speedbumps which is kinda defeating the purpose of driving a car, if you can't go the way you want to.
I'd say get a polo or something, my mate has a 53 plate 1.2 polo, it's fast enough, though the low rev power was far more than my 1.4 golf...Typical VW inside, very nice finish, nice dials, A/C n all that shiz.
Depending on how you will do your insurance, whether you'll front or not, the differnce between a polo/corsa/clio to a ZR or 1.4 16v polo (Watch out for that, the standard 1.4 16v polo is group 10 because it has 100bhp, but the other models like CL etc are much lower because they only have about 70) is going to be quite a lot.
I'm dreading phoning my insurance to change to the ZR, screw paying for it as a first car.
And yea, 330BMW as a student, your havin' a laugh.
Either it's been a vandal attack or the owner was sick of the car and just got it done himself to claim it through the insurance, regardless, doesn't bother me.
I think we'll start prepping it at the weekend or next week, so hopefully it will be on the road in a couple of weeks.
The only thing about the ZR is that they are group 9 and £82 for 6 months tax, but apart from that 10.0 to 60 and they all have leather trim etc.
I just got one on Tuesday, the drivers seat has a little tear in the leather, central locking wont work with the key or the alarm, but these are just common things.
I would've preffered a corsa sxi but since I started wanting to buy them the prices went up....they are great value all round though, 12 to 60, group 3 insurance, cheap tax and 47mpg. Quite nice inside too, aslong as some chav has't replaced the standard CD player with some balupunkt' shiz.
Sorry, I dunno why I told about the knockout comp, it's just something thats happening here atm, thee is bigger events you can pay for at the one in Falkirk, last time we went they got differnt karts to the average joe, got to have a standing start instead of being released from the pits and it was like 3 or 4 15 minute races.
The only problem with this one is size, overtaking is quite hard, especcially with someone who isn't going much slower than you.
